ALI Trailer, Miyazaki's latest trailer + more!!!

Published at:  Jul 19, 2001 1:59:30 PM CDT

Hey folks, Harry here with a look at several items. First there's the ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT online presentation of the ALI trailer. ET!!! What the hell sort of piss poor digital quality transfer is this?!?!?!?! You have the debut of what is possibly one of the most prestigious and anticipated films, and you do a subpar piece of utter excrement disgracefully inadequate job of bringing it to the silicon screen? Every 8 year old with a computer knows how to do this better! Dammit, learn! Sigh... sorry folks, I really wanted to see the ALI trailer, but if Entertainment Tonight isn't on television screwing up trailers with Mary Hart or Bob Goen voice overs or CHRYON burn ins... well they reduce it to abstract art online. How do studios or artists put up with shabby treatment like this. This is a MICHAEL MANN movie for Christ's sake. This is a movie based on ALI!!!! GET IT RIGHT!!!! Sigh...

Hi Harry,

u can find a 2.30 minutes trailer of the upcoming michael mann-epic at:

    Smith looks just like Ali

    by mattr

but maybe that's just due to the lousy quality of the trailer. He definitely sounds just like him.

like, is there a licesne or something to host websites and whatn

    by jungle-face-jake

If so, then Entertainment Tonight should never ever have any permit in showing another trailer. Even tho what i saw was just basically a fucking slide show, i can tell that the trailer was top notch and it should be treated with a top notch transfer. At least i didn't have to go to the hospital after another mary hart induced seizure(mary hart seizure joke copywrited by Larry David, writer of Seinfeld)

Do you think the powers that be actually like chronologically messed up talkbacks? Perhaps it limits discussion which, in turn, limits the amount of criticism they face (other than the criticism for shitty talkback orders). Since the orders have been messed up here for as long as I can remember, and it wouldn't exactly take Bill Gates to fix the problem (least I can't imagine, but us rabbits really don't know shit about computers), I think the only possible conclusion is that the Big Boss Man really doesn't give a shit.

Three women at once, Babe?! Are you some kind of animal?

    by chesty larue

Come on, now. These sports films- excluding the "I love Brian Piccolo" scene from "Brian's Song"- can be more painful than a Brazilian panty wax (I know!). Ya'll remember John Goodman as "The Babe"? Remember what a shit-pile that was and how you cried so bad an usher had to escort you back to the lobby and then call your mother? Or was that just me? Oh, but my bikini-zone is *Smooooooth*......

    Ali Music

    by chesty larue

It was 'Bring It to Me' by Sam Cooke...but it sounded like Terence Trent D'arby was singing it. Weird.

    ALI

    by sierramountain

This movie looks so amazing. I just hope it will be a flawless masterpiece as The Insider was. I have no doubts that Ali will match or even surpass the quality of The Insider. Michael Mann's thematic sensibilities in movies are always about stubborn and reluctant heroes. Always doing what they do to preserve their pride and dignity as men only to gradually become a true hero by doing their heroic deeds for the right cause. And Ali certainly seems to be another film about those exact themes. This is something Mann specializes in and this movie will certainly be a frontrunner for the 2002 Oscars. I just hope Mann finally wins a much deserved Oscar for direction. Even if another film comes out during winter that is better than Ali, Mann should should be compensated with an award for what happened to him two years ago when he lost out to Sam Mendes.

    by sith lord jesus

Yes, we can, by adopting a slashdot-style interface. http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=4421&release_id=34462, Herry. It's all there. Oh, and ALI is gonna rock the hiz-ouse.

So is he going to call Joe Frazier an Uncle Tom?

    by magusreno

Or are they going to water it down and be pc? It looks like they'll take the ueber-glorification route, especially considering Will Smith was cast. The Spirited Away trailer looked unf'nbelievably dark and groovy though.
