It Is Recommended That You Watch INVADER ZIM
Your friend Dave, El Cosmico here, it is, as my pleasure on the nook-nak natverk such fun as to be able to
share with the goodly lot of you those happy moments of media fare 'pon which
mayhap such ought to FEED.
Take your ER, your BIG ISLAND QUESTION SHOW, your FPOOFBATLERY, I enjoy shows on my tube
which are fun and entertaining. Which are a bit different from yesterday, a
bit new, and with funnitude ALSO.
Earthenoids, the wise know, have no sense of things in general, and
specifically very little as well. So, here I recommend one show that some who
don't yet might soon find joy in watching.
INVADER ZIM
YOU LIKE ICE CREAM, YOU LIKE ICE CREAM, YOU LOVE IT, YOU CANNOT RESIST ICE CREAM,
TO RESIST IS HOPELESS, YOUR EXISTENCE IS MEANINGLESS WITHOUT ICE CREAM.
How many shows have YOU watched lately that have offered such clear and helpful
insight? How many that resist the urge to dance around truth with tales of how
perfect and beautiful things are, or how dramatic and wonderfully thrilling the
lives of the COMPLETELY MUNDANE are?
You, after all, read websites, and so, presumably sit down a lot in chairs.
Look now, at the creepy greyish shadows that live within the supposedly white areas
of your monitors, caused by your inability to ever get your white points and gamma
correction properly set.
Me, I don't have that problem, nor do I ever miss an episode of INVADER ZIM. It is a tale of the
difficulties faced by a diminutive member of the INVADER kind, tasked with conquering
our fair planet. Assisted by his highly advanced robot GIR.
On occasion, one might find ZIM stealing organs to avoid further suspicion during
examination for head pigeons, riding floating pig transports, or having his eyes burned
blind by the sun. Also, sometimes he is covered in germ-immune SPACE MEAT.
ZIM is the creation of one fine fellow JHONEN VASQUEZ, familiar to many in the
comic book world for his work with SLAVE LABOR
GRAPHICS. Titles he's well-known for include such visionary works as JOHNNY THE
HOMICIDAL MANIAC, and I FEEL SICK.
SLAVE LABOR GRAPHICS has, of course, other fine fare such as the works of stunningly
brilliant overlord EVAN DORKIN, whose genius opus MILK AND CHEESE remains one of the
finest works yet seen in the history of western civilization.
IN ANY CASE, you owe it to yourselves and your kind to examine what JHONEN is offering
up over at the otherwise INTENSELY EVIL AND CRAPPY NICKELODEON.

and get your screensavers and such, even though screensavers haven't really been necessary or
effective for YEARS.

busy and pleased at least for a little while, blood running through them like a pair of radioactive pants.

Invader Zim rocks! It is the best show to grace Nickelodeon since the early episodes of Ren & Stimpy.

considering how "adult" and dark the humor in this thing is. One episode that seriously creeped me out and made me laugh at the same time was when ZIM was befriended by this annoying little kid, and to stop him, he uses some kind of alien probe extractor thing to take out the kid's eyeballs and implant mechanical ones so he wants to befriend the next living thing he sees, which is a squirrel. Most of the episodes are really like this.....it's like Seth MacFarlane and Tim Burton collaborated.

Invader Zim is just amazingly funny and the stuff they get away with is unbelievable. Still, I think Angery Beavers is the best adult Nick toon made

I was wondering when there'd be a talkback about this show. I watch it every week. The pig ship / water balloon fight was their best episode. Can't wait for August 17.

Maybe if people caught on earlier it wouldn't of almost been cancelled...BUT YAY IT'S BEEN RENEWED FOR ANOTHER SEASON. WOO HOO!!!! so I may not be the best judge. But I saw the first episode and thought it was ok. There were a couple of funny things in it and I really liked the design. I thought it had some real potential. But as far as nicktoons go - keeping in mind their primary demographic - I have to say that SpongeBob SquarePants is the best thing they've had on since Ren & Stimpy. It's hysterical and the actors do such a great job.

First off, for the record, Dr. Radium is done by Scott Saavedra and not Jhonen Vasquez. Second, yesssss INVADER ZIM is the best show on television. Third, how could you mention Slave Labor comics and not mention Lenore by Roman Dirge?! Have you got the brain worms? :)

As Gir would say, "I luuuuv dis show!" With all my love to Groening, this is probably the most consistently funny animated show out there. Definitely the best show Nickelodeon's had the God-given sense to show since the Pete brothers. It amazes me some of the stuff that's on this show (like the afore-mentioned organ-stealing episode. "SQUIDDELYSPOOTCH?!?!"), considering it's on the channel made famous by "Rugrats" and "Rocket Power", two of the most watered-down and idiotic things I've ever had the misfortune of seeing (watching small cousins with cable can be Hell. Damn the contract of family!). Jhonen is the man! All we need is a Filler Bunny show on Comedy Central (or better yet, HBO!), and this guy might actually get the attention he oughtta. My favorite episode is the one where the kids get their careers chosen for them, and Dib gets matched with that paranormal investigator. "What do you know about Count Chocopuff?!?" Well, anyway, this is great, hilarious stuff. Gir is the man/robot/dog. Nice call, Herc. This has been a Moment with User ID Indeed! "I REQUIRE PUNCH!!!"

I hate the custesy-bootsy goth comix trend!! all this stuff is mostly wack. there's no way that cute-goth is reaching its imaginary demographic of precocious kids and raven-haired teen drama queens. in fact the only people reading Jhonen are ironic intellectual fattys like me and that guy on the simpsons. after a couple years of the scary Godmother, Squee, Lenore, etc., I'm exhausted by it and ready for the next big thing. having said all that, I think JV's stuff is the best of the lot, and yeah ZIM is a fun enough cartoon. no big whoop.

This is one of the funniest animated shows on television. I was immediately hooked by the first episode and haven't missed a show since! I urge all of you to seek it out and give it a chance... it may be a bit off-kilter at times... but that's just part of the charm. Oh yeah, and I think GIR is funny little shit!--"I'M RUNNING!!!!!"

Maybe Vasquez didn't do Dr. Radium, but his character Professor Membrane is obviously the same guy. BTW the water balloon episode would make this show a classic if it was the only one ever made.

I've only seen 2 episodes of Invader Zim so far, but I'd say it's more weird than funny. The Vasquez character designs are pretty much the same as those in the comic books Squee and Johnny the Homicidal Maniac. Overall, this show feels very Squeeish to me. Squee was weird and had interesting goth art, but overall, I didn't find it very funny. I liked the Wobbly Headed Bob stuff and Meanwhiles more. I'm not sure who this cartoon is aimed it exactly. It's not really kiddie fare, but at the same time, it lacks the hip social commentary style of shows like The Simpsons and South Park that appeals to older viewers. Anyway, I think Spongebob is by far the best cartoon on Nick at the moment, and along with the Powerpuff Girls and Futurama are my favorite animated shows on TV these days.

This show was introduced to me a few weeks ago by a six yr. old. Being that it was on Nick, I wasn't too anxious to see it as that network has been slowly going downhill since You Can't do that On television was taken off the air, but I was thoroughly impressed by what I saw. I can't believe such a work of genious came out of the home of Aaron Carter videos and double dare 2000.

I saw about 2 hours of this show about a month or so ago and instantly fell in love. Jesus Tapdancing Christ! THIS is the funniest cartoon I have seen in quite a while, but it only gets aired at the shittiest times for me. (Only once a week, according to TVguide.com...) If Nick were smart, they'd promote this show more, air it at different times, and so on. I've been telling people about this show for a little while, but Nick really needs to help me out here... ATTN: NICK... AIR THIS FUCKING SHOW MORE OFTEN! But whatever you do, don't fuck it up like you did with RUGRATS (Series was great, but the movies were shitty (IMO)) Man, I can only say: Every episode of this show looks practically as good as an animated feature. (You just watch... Now that AICN has an article about it, Nick will realize what they've got and do whatever they can to give us more.)

Since you brought up the brilliant, apoplectic Evan Dorkin in the same breath as Jhonen, be advised that for the better part of this year he's been working on an animated version of his brilliant, apoplectic "Eltingville Comic-Book, Science-Fiction, Fantasy, Horror and Role-Playing Club" for Cartoon Network. Yes! In all their squealing, arrested-development, fanboy glory! I hope to God CN picks it up. In the meantime, order Dorkin's brilliantly mordant "Dork #7" from Slave Labor -- it's the best comic written in the last 10 years.

I love this show. My only complaint is that it's on only once a week, and it's timeslot coincides with Time Squad on Cartoon Network. Time Squad isn't as good as Invader ZIM but I still like it. It has a good style to it. Anyway, I only have access to it till the end of the week then I go home where I have no access to it. Darn the luck.
