Hey folks... Harry here, well an element of the United States will fall into THE LORD OF THE RINGS... well actually... techincally... it will just be churning American/Canadian water twisted digitally into stampeding horses just outside Rivendell... Ahhhh, this should be wonderful looking. When you have DIGITAL DOMAIN picking up a few spares on the effects side... you know you are in good hands... DD is simply one of the best effects studios ever!

I work at the Cave of the Winds at Niagara Falls, NY. It's a tourist attraction that takes visitors up to the base of one of the American waterfalls. Today, I had the pleasure of helping out some of the crew from Lord of The Rings. Apparently they got in yesterday and were shooting the rapids and the whirlpool in the Niagara River. Today they were shooting footage of the Bridal Veil Falls which is the smallest of the three waterfalls here. Peter Jackson was nowhere around as this was just some special effects photography. One crew member told me that the footage is to be digitally altered and will be used in the scene where Frodo is chasing Gandolf and Gandolf summons horses from the water. I've never read the books so I'm not sure if I got all of that straight. Anyway, they had tons of Digital Domain cameras and equipment and seemingly took a lot of footage. It was pretty exciting for me and I hope you at least find this mildly interesting.
