SEX AND THE CITY Premiere!! Talk Back!!
The fourth season’s first two episodes air on HBO Sunday starting at 9 p.m.
Here’s what TV Guide says:
The Golden Globe-winning comedy series kicks off its fourth season with back-to-back episodes.
As an apprehensive Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) approaches a biological milestone (her 35th birthday), she wonders whether the notion of a soul mate is a realistic goal or a quaint fantasy. Ever the dreamer, Charlotte (Kristin Davis) is unapologetic about her belief that there's a perfect match for everyone, but she's unsure about ending her trial separation with Trey (Kyle MacLachlan). Meanwhile, Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) walks softly but carries a big shtick at an engagement party, where she does an impromptu comedy routine about being single; and Samantha (Kim Cattrall) dreams of forming an unholy alliance with a priest (Costas Mandylor).
In the second half-hour, a foulmouthed, free-spirited fashion-show coordinator (Margaret Cho) asks Carrie to be a runway model at a charity event, but the writer is troubled by what people will think. The never bashful Samantha poses for nude photos so she'll have a future reminder of her desirability; Miranda is confounded by a potential beau's image of her; and Charlotte is reluctant to take a good look at a certain part of her anatomy.
Both episodes, written and directed by Michael Patrick King, are proof that this show is still going strong. Tonight's list of guest stars, which includes Alan Cumming, Ed Koch and Heidi Klum, is yet another reason why people are still talking about Sex.

yaa-boo-sucks I win.
Sex & the city is ok though. -
I keep trying to get into this show because of all the buzz but every time I watch it I just don't get it. It's not even as funny as Ally McBeal and all the female characters have more relationships than any woman I've ever known. Are they supposed to be representative of the average woman? The actresses themselves have said their characters are much sluttier than they could ever be. If this show was about crack whores I could see it but these are supposedly normal working women.
-
My prediction: someone OTHER than Samantha gets naked.
-
.....then I'm glad that Aiden's back this season. And even more so, Im glad he's back, and his precense is, in some way, tormenting Carrie. Aiden was my favorite character last season(or whatever season it was where he was Carries boyfriend, and she cheated on him). The whole Mr. Big-Carrie-Aiden triangle thing showed how women make the stupidest mistakes. I loved the way Aiden handled his relationship with Carrie and himself, like the way he was willing to, break the whole thing off at first cause Carrie was a smoker. Now there's a guy that feel good about himslef and doesn't have to be an asshole about it. Somebody to look up too.

I tried watching Sex and the City once, but couldn't get past ass the pro-female anti-male attitude that the characters have. If there was a show that portrayed women the same way that SatC portrays men, NOW would be picketing HBO.

My goodness, virtue just abounds on this talkback! If a show can offend geeks who spend most of their time downloading porn from the internet, well then, something must be done! But seriously, folks, I must say I enjoy a little Sex In The City, if only to hear the word vagina as much as possible. What's wrong with a little raciness, eh? Say what you will, at least there will never be a "very special episode" in which Carrie forgoes buying some new strappy shoes and sponsers a third world child instead.

I am a 31 year old male living in manhattan. i go to the places these women go and I hear the same nonsense that they hear. In reality, women that age in this town are just old. These girls aren't young and hip, they are old and clingy. After watching this nonsense for four years, I can't take it anymore. The only problem is my girlfriend and all my friends love it. These women went from light and entertaining to sad and desperate. At this point this show is going down faster than even Samantha would.

several times - but after 10-15 minutes, I realized that NONE of these women are people that I would want to hang out. That they would bore the major crap out of me every time. And at the same time I realize that I am SO lucky being the way I am and doing the things I do, and having the friends I have, and also SO lucky to have such a best friend in my boyfriend. Whoo. really. If this show was really about women who have control of there lives, why oh why did they have an episode with Kim Cattrall's character with the flu and her calling her exs' to see who would take care of her? Weak. Very.
-
Once again I fool myself into watching this damn show, hoping to find a glimmer of talent, humor, or at least a chuckle. Once again I failed to see any of the above. I've done my part. I've watched this total waste of time enough. Oh god...only a year or so til Tony and Co. return. I can hold out, I think. Jump the Shark moment for this series? The first time Cattrall got naked. At least my wife doesn't like it, so I have no reason to wander over to HBO on Sunday nights.

Please,
You guys are full of it. This show is so well written it's much better than most of the shit that is on TV these days! I don't know what you like watching, but if Star Trek is your thing, or more serious drama, then of course you wouldn't want to watch this. I completely relate to most of the things that are discussed. -

If women are really like this, all of us guys are doomed...

Can you imagine spending the rest of your life (or any extended period of time) with any of these characters? Okay, maybe Kristin Davis, but even her virginal gee-whiz attitude towards life would get annoying and you would need to move her into a trailer park for a taste of REAL Americana. Make her gain 50 pounds, put her in a Kool-Aid stained bathrobe and on a diet of Macaroni and Cheese and WWF on the tube every night. That'll turn her into a real American woman!

It would take some insight to even begin to see how this show may relate to how real women talk and act like. Gay men and women would most definately see any parallel to reality and this show. It is a ccomedy for christ sakes! It is directed to an audience that apparently gets its humor and insight to women. A lot of men would want to catch a clue and see how honest of a portrayal these actresses give. It is witty, sharp and apparently from the talk back's above, threatening to some!

Yo, I lived in NYC for many years (still live in the Metro NY area) and these ladies are VERY true to life. There are (as stated in the first season) about 1.8 million single women in Manhattan and 1.3 million single men. God it was geat. Westchester doesn't have these ratios, damn it. Anyway, single Mahattan chicks in 4 charaters age groups are genrally neurotic, man-hungry party animals. My point is that these characters represent a fair assesment of a sizable chunk of the female population in NYC and those that don't live here should shut the fuck up.
-
how fucked up this country is about sex. We must be the only nation in the free world where the act of women talking about vaginas becomes a matter of constant discussion. What's the big deal? It would seem a matter of simple deduction to conclude that the half of our population that have vaginas would discuss them in a manner compatible to their personalities. Now, whether to be repelled or attracted to the characters on the show is an entirely different matter.

HBO Continues to WOW! with originality and writing excellence!!!

I was really dismayed to come back to this post after two days and see that so few people either watched these two episodes or decided to Talk Back. I've just moved back to Washington D.C. from New York City where I spent the last six years. No show since Seinfeld has got New York so INCREDIBLY RIGHT!!! I really feel sorry for all you "fanboys and girls" out there who have never had an opportunity to live in New York City for any period in your life. This show really picks up on the subtlties of how on one hand life is so grande and larger than life and on the other hand it is very lonely, cold, sad and a little unnerving for all the inhabitants seeking some form of normal life. You see it's easy to shuttle around from event to event in New York because there is always that next BIG thing or place that you JUST HAVE TO GO TO. Any place you go to at any hour on any day is full of people. Sex is so plentiful that it is often reduced to just another event that gets you through the day. But who do you really know? The two scenes that totally blew me away were the one where Carrie is left alone on her 35th birthday and the one where BIG is sitting outside her apartment in the company Lincoln. That shows how fragile life really can be in New York. Those few minutes with BIG drinking champagne with balloons may seem small to some, but having lived there, that's usually all that there is time for due to everyone's hectic schedule. These four friends are all they really have and let me tell you in New York if you have three other friends who love you and will tell you the truth.... you're lucky. I hope that this info will help you appreciate that this show is not about the big moments because they come a dime a dozen. It's about the small ones... And if you just don't get it... well go play with your tricorder or something... You're missing a very special show.

what you wankers don't understand about Secks And The Citee is that it kicks ass. those women are so spunky and inspirational that it makes me want to go start my own line of clothing.
-
Look at the post a couple previous to this one. After reading it I am reminded why I get pissed off when I hear the term "fly-over" country. Do I need to live in every locale that a fictional series occurs in order to really understand it? No. That's like saying only black people can direct movies about black people. It's ridiculous. Bad writing and unoriginality is plainly obvious no matter where I've lived. It's a lazily executed show with nothing to say.

"...and there are a million conversations and activities that validate this every day because the collective male unconscious has perpetually informed men that women are soft, docile creatures we can fuck and discard at a leisurely pace until we find the right one." Leisurely? Speak for the other automotons, but I'm "fucking and discarding" at a much faster pace than leisurely. I think it's beacuse I watch "SatC" and I now know what women need and want...The only credit the show gets from me is that the Samantha character is dead on (The "Friar Fuck" line was kind of funny). How many times have you been at a club or a bar and saw the just-a-little-too-old broad trying desparately to "fit in" with a younger crowd? It's fucking pitiful. Admittedly, I've pulled a few Samantha-types and they're just as slutty as the show portrays. Now on to a more important topic, whacking material. "SatC" is not decent whacking material, because the sex scenes are wayyy to short...oh wait...that actually doesn't matter to you geeks. Admit it, how many of you geeks finished when Samantha was masturbating? That scene was what...12 seconds? But for us true "fuck and discarders", "SatC" is not decent whacking material. The closest thing on HBO to decent whacking material is "The Hitchhiker", certain segments of "Real Sex", and certain segments of "Taxicab Confessions" (from time to time HBO Zone will have some good shit). Skinemax is quite simply the best cable channel for pure whacking action. "Hidden Passion", "The Sexual Matrix", "Sex @ Students.edu", and a whole host of other flicks abound for your whacking pleasure. The Spice Channel is a ripoff. Showtime has "Hot Springs Hotel, but the simulated sex is just too obvious and the chicks don't grind enough. I'll be here until Thursday, try the veal...Vote for a "Leprechaun in the Hood" talkback.

What are you talking about? Sex and the city rocks!
Why is it that you can post a million posts about Katie Holmes` tits and Cameron Diaz` ass put when it comes to Sex and the City you act so prudishly all of a sudden? Are you scared of women who talk honestly about sex? Do you choke on their jokes because it confirms your greatest fears about what women actually talk about behind your backs?
Sex and the city is a sharp, witty and sexy show. It doessn't take men or women too seriously which I think is really liberating. The girls there might be sexual predators but they capture the soul of modern women pretty accurately I think.

When a show I don't like comes on, I just change the channel.
by brother putney
I never would've thought i'd like "sex and the city" but once i started watching it, i really got into it, it's a hoot and it doesn't take itself seriously enough to warrant sincere, righteous ire. If you can't relate to it on any level, "sex and the city" isn't the show you should be watching. And if you want to slam a lame HBO show, pick on "Arli$$" which has no charm or true wit whatsoever but continually manages to occupy TV airspace that could be better served by... just about anything.
-
That's the only way to rejuvinate the show.

And Parker needs to show LESS face...
