ANDROMEDA Finale!! Talk Back!!
SPOILER ALERT !!
The “Andromeda” finale aired in most U.S. markets this weekend, so we thought we’d provide a little space for talkback. Here’s what Herc had to say after screening it in April.

1.22 Its Hour Come ‘Round at Last. (Season finale.)
A very, very violent cliffhanger featuring the deaths of scores of hungry, horny Magog and much unpleasantness for the Andromeda’s crew. Sadly, it doesn’t really reveal anything new about Trance.
As the episode begins, the Andromeda crew has just added a sixth world to Dylan’s new Commonwealth.
But the happy tone is short-lived. While poking around in Rommie’s brain, Harper discovers and accidentally restores an old back-up copy of Andromeda's personality core. But it's a copy that was made during a pre-Hunt secret mission. When restored, the back-up Rommie assumes that her entire crew has been killed and the people she now finds onboard are intruders.
The Andromeda heads off to complete her 300-year-old secret mission (a recon to find the source of the Magog invasions). Andromeda-controlled androids capture Trance and force her to navigate. The rest of the crew tries to figure out what's going on and regain control of the ship.

ANDROMEDA (voice over): Intruder, halt!
TYR (striding defiantly down a corridor, rifle raised): Not likely.
The android version of Rommie is unaffected by the personality change, and her pissy confrontations with her moussed-up other selves are great.
ANDROID ROMMIE: What do you mean you don’t recognize me?? I’m you!!
ON-SCREEN ROMMIE: You are a modified type-A maintenance android fashioned to look like my A.I. persona. You are decidedly not me.
HOLOGRAM ROMMIE: It’s not responding to my instructions like the other androids.
ON-SCREEN ROMMIE: Whoever modified it must have given it the ability to override my direct control.
HOLOGRAM ROMMIE: I will disassmble it. Perhaps it will give me information about the saboteur.
ANDROID ROMMIE (turning to leave): Like hell I will!
ON-SCREEN ROMMIE: This section has been sealed!
ANDROID ROMMIE: Oh really?
(The doors slide open effortlessly for Android Rommie.)
HOLOGRAM ROMMIE: Stop! Where are you going?
ANDROID ROMMIE (striding away): To find out what’s wrong with me. Sometimes I can be a real pain in the ass!!
But just as it looks like the crew are getting Andromeda back under control: WHAM! Magog swarmships clamp down on the Andromeda. (And in case anyone forgets the Magog are rapists, their ships not only clamp on to the Andromeda, they actually seen to hump it as well.) Soon Andromeda is inseminated, if you will, with platoons of squealing, angry Magog.
DYLAN: Why did it have to be Magog? I hate Magog.
What's with all the Magog? Andromeda’s secret mission was a long-range strike into Magog space to try and locate and eliminate the source of the Magog invasions once and for all. Andromeda was the only survivor, and staggered back without her crew after wandering blindly through the slipstream for over a year. Her memories were locked up, all records of the mission were destroyed, and she was given a new captain – Dylan - and crew. The Magog swarmships attack because Andromeda is being guided deeper and deeper into Magog space.
To make matters worse, it turns out these Magog have a leader named Bloodmist who's smart, wears armor, and carries a rifle, and emotes like he's Richard III. He tries to tempt Rev Bem into switching sides, promising to reveal big secrets about the Magog’s origins. (At this point Rev reveals his full Wayist name – “Behemiel Far Traveler” – and his true Magog name - “Redplague.”)
BLOODMIST: Join us. We will restore to you all you have lost. Your history. Your culture. Your pride.
REV: We have no culture! We have no history!
BLOODMIST: None that you know of! But you’re of those who went before. The first ones. For ten generations you have lived in ignorance – until now! Now that the hour of the awakening approaches. Follow me, Redplague, and I will show you the face of God, then all will be revealed!
REV (brandishing his Wayist medallion): I have seen the face of the divine! I see it every day! In the Universe! In all the divine’s creations!
BLOODMIST: Do you believe you were made by The Creator?
REV: All things are created by the divine!
BLOODMIST: All things but us! Hear my words. There is still time for you. But now I must go. I have pressing business elsewhere.
(Those who read Herc’s last set of Andromeda spoilers know the finale also features a return appearance of Enigma, the impressive-looking energy-dude who turned up briefly in “Harper 2.0.” Feel free to put two and two together.)
Andromeda ends up at the Magog homeworld – actually twenty hollow planets joined together, lit by an artificial sun, filled with trillions of Magog and heading toward the Commonwealth.
By episode’s end, Andromeda has giant holes blasted in her by point singularity bombs (the baby black holes used by the big bounty hunter Jeager in "Harper 2.0"). Rommie's been impaled by Bloodmist and stuck to a wall. Harper and Tyr are paralyzed, infested with Magog eggs (!), and taken back to the worldship. Rev's ripped off his Wayist medallion and gone after them (but it's unclear whether he's gone to rescue them or switch sides and join his brothers). And Dylan, Beka, and Trance are all lying unconcscious on the shattered command deck.
Herc’s rating for “Andromeda” 1.22?

We learn that the Magog actually killed one of the crew (not Rommie)! The ship puts the two giant battlebots in its hold to work. And the nerdiest Lone Gunman, Bruce Harwood, has reportedly signed on for a recurring role as a nerdy spy – a spy Rommie has to retrieve from a world that hates and fears androids. Oh yeah, and we’ll learn Enigma’s connection to the fall of the Commonwealth!

They will press the reset button and by the second episode of the new season all will be well and the ship repaired although two members of the crew will be missing from each episode as this show does not have the budget to even allow its entire cast to appear in all episodes.

Spoiler.........
Nothing has ever moved me to type up a Talkback before, not even B5 or X-files. But this episode of Andromeda had me on the edge of my seat and the last 10 minutes of the show had my jaw hitting the floor. The way main characters were dropping, I was having flashback to the last episode of Blake's 7! And with all the hell they had just gone through, when Romy annouced what weapons has just been fired at the ship, Dylan's horried expression let you know that no matter how bad things were, they just got worse. And the hit itself... wow!
Of course, they have to recover from all of this somehow though I don't see how. I am already dying for Fall to get here to find out.
I have watched this show from episode one and if they keep delivering like this, they have me hooked for the duration.

I don't always catch this show but I happened to watch yesterday and it was so good I thought maybe the show was cancelled and they were going out with a bang. I guess I will have to watch next season to see what happens next.

I'm the 4th poster! Excellent episode. (Warning -- repeating above spoiler!) Too bad they're killing off one of the crew next year -- I thought the dynamics of the crew work well. It probably will be Harper. So I'm not the only one who noticed that not everyone is on the show every week -- it became rather obvious, and they were running out of excuses why everyone wasn't there...
-
Okay, 5th. (And 6th)

The first thing I said when I saw them invade was, "Time to get Stan and Ollie". What they needed were a bunch of storybook characters shooting darts at them. This was only about my 3rd whole ep of Andromeda I've ever watched. Sorry, but the pilot ep didn't do anything for me and I was afraid it would just be crap like Earth Final Conflict. I swear, if Rodenberry were still alive that show would be way better and actually make sense. But anyway, I really liked that episode. Considering what little of the season I've seen of, it BLEW me away. I'm actually anxious to see the 2nd season premiere. After that, we'll see. I hope they don't kill Tyr. I used to watch Keith Hamilton Cobb on All My Children and his character's name was Noah, so that's what I call him whenever I watch the show. He's too good a character to kill. Besides, they wouldn't kill someone who was once voted one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world by People mag, would they?

Educated Speculation... may be spoilers...
Only Lisa Ryder (Beka) and Gordon Woolvett (Harpur) have anything listed on the IMDB as being produced during/after Andromeda. Of these, Lisa's project (Friday 13th part 10) is listed as 2001. However, Lexa Doig (Rommie) also stars in the movie (so it can't have interfered too much, since Lexa is not dead), and it is listed as being complete as of early May. Gordon's project (The Seventh Portal, another series) hasn't been listed as ending, so it seems likely Harpur is indeed the character killed off. -
If it isn't Harper who bites it, I say Rev will be the plausible second candidate for death. He could be killed off either trying to rescue Harper and Tyr, trying to challenge Engima, or turning against Dylan, Beka, and Trance while they try to save Tyr and Harper. With Harper gone, how will they fix Andromeda (both ship and android) in season two?

I think we may be overlooking something obvious...(SPoilers?)
by omni-nerd
O'l Herc says that we learn the Magog killed one of the crew... but he did not say "One of the cast is leaving the series." If anyone who has seen the Pilot can attest to, Trance Gemeni (The attractive Purple one) was killed in the first episode. But she somehow has the ability to come back from the dead. This would be the most obvious person to kill off.... because they can come back at any time.
-
If any go, I say Harper is the least needed. How hard is it to find a decent mechanic? Tyr cannot die, the dude is the bad ass of the crew! I like Trance, the sweet innocent nature she has mixed in with she knows she can kill anyone and they'd believe her story is neat. Beka cannot go, a very distant 2nd to Lexi on the hot scale...but she has uses. Dylan cannot die, he's the captain and voiceover! Rev...well I guess he can die if your taking picks. I have really become attached to this show, bring on season 2 FAST!! -
I loved the fighting in this episode.Seeing the cannibal teddy bears being thrown over the railing and smacking against stuff as they fell screaming to their death was priceless. The ship being blasted was cool and the entire crew being messed up was a total surprise("My crew, Jim, My entire crew, gone!" Jim-"Yes,I know. We saw it.").The constellation of planets was awesome.
I've only seen 3 complete episodes,so somebody fill us in on all the Names:
Tyr-Badass Nietzchien
Dylan-Kevin Sorbo(Hercules)
Blonde captain-?
Purple chick-?
Andromeda chick-Superhot babe
Repair guy-?
Cannibal Teddy Bear-Redplague(?) -
Never say they would not kill off the capt. Remember they removed the first capt from B5. They can always kill Rev and the actor can just play another role in the show.
-
I know Hercules said that its not Rommie, but perhaps they kill er Robot-Body and in the next Season they clone her a Human Body :-) Then she can have a Relationship with her Captain...would be a nica Couple
CU -
Tyr-Badass Nietzchien, played by Keith Hamilton Cobb.
Dylan-Kevin Sorbo(Hercules).
Blonde captain-Beka Valentine, played by Lisa Ryder.
Purple chick-Trance Gemini, played by Laura Bertram. Andromeda chick-Rommie, played by Lexa Doig.
Repair guy-Harper, played by Gordon Woolvett.
Cannibal Teddy Bear-Maggog, played by extras.
Enjoy your new found info.

missed the first showing of this on sat....friend told me it was as good as many B5 eps. Caught the secodn showing yesterday. Damn fine episode, not too many shows with the heuvos to leave every cast member in a near dead state at the end. (exception being Rev, which is why i'm sure it will be he that dies cause he's gonna go try to save tyr and harper, and will succeed only to be killed by the magog, at which point they'll get back the monsterously fucked over andromeda, and have vengence by launching a nova bomb into that sun at the center of the psuedo ringworld/dysan sphere gobbledygook. (remember he reloaded one or two of them after the episode with the kids fighting the war again the magog (seems sort of fitting that it should come up again))

This is a response I received from AndromedaTV.com concerning the death of one of the major characters....If you don't beleive me go there yourself and hound Robert H Wolfe or Zack S....they are great at responding too fans.
"ZACK was decisive in shooting down the rumor and
i don't blame him at all for feeling he's out on a
personal mission.
ANDROMEDA has an ensamble cast that has worked
out well together...its too soon for any change. at all.
dropping a cast member sometimes is a very bad idea.
EFC had a similar chemistry in season one...
and is never to
really recover from KEVIN KILNER's departure.
WHY THE IDLE NET RUMOR?
i feel people have way too much time on their hands...
i know i know...
other shows are doing this...
ALEX was just
killed off {i presume because lisa klink is wanting higher nielsons}
in the WB's ROSWELL and the
storyarc has gone off
on a murder mystery tangent...
EFC has topped last season's cliffhanger that had DA'AN
possibly dying by now having a potential extinction event
inside the TAELON species + commonality that
also could carry away DA'AN, ZO'OR and LIAM...to the deep beyond...
EFC now has THREE leads with a deep dark question
mark over their heads...AND PERHAPS ONE OUTCOME
is that ROBERT LEESHOCK, LENI PARKER and ANITA LA SELVA
are leaving the show...
[myself i think a plethora of minor characters may die, yet i feel the leads are back come september]
again...in EFC's situation...
the depressing rumors
seem to stem from
someone who has a job that
is connected to
the ongoing decisions made on a daily
basis with the series...WHEREAS
ANDROMEDA's rumors seem to be a fan's SWAG "

is a dress wearing nancy-boy - compared to Try. I mean, holy shit - did you ever see anything in ST: TNG, DS9 or Voyager - to rival the scene where Tyr and Harper are being beseiged by swarming magog - fighting them off with knifes and fists - when Tyr, on the verge of being overwhelmed by the onslaught screams: "Where there is life...there is hope" and, then, get this - bites a Magog's freaking face off. *****What I like about this show is that it managed from day one, not after two or three seasons, to create a coherent universe, a cast that relates to each other and actors who really seem to have an idea what their characters are about. I also feel, like in B5, this show is going somewhere. There is a larger story arc, a bigger picture that we only get bits at a time. It also gives more that lip service to politics. Sure, it is not the West Wing in outer space - but Andromeda's interaction with various factions and species actually mean someting in a larger political context. No Prime Directive here; and no First Contact protocol. You need to weaken one Neitzchien Tribe - well then deviously maneuver two other tribes into war with it. It is not a perfect show by any means. However, it is about as good a Sci-Fi show that you're going get, and we really should support it.

Rommie(android) is defintely going
to have a big part next season.... The question on is what was the big secret mission Holo Rommie and Warship Rommie on?
RoboRommie will be the key to opening this mystery.....besides
she a babe..:lol -
BTW This is an excellent episode!
I am glad it got top spot on the
ratings chart!
Have not been in a Scifi series in years, since B5 or Crusade.
