JASON X... the cyberversion here!
Hey folks, Harry here... I have no concept of whether or not I believe this JASON X movie rocks or not... New Line's frustrating musical chairs they seem to be playing with its release seems to show doubt in their film... but the entire West Coast AICN crew dug the marrow out this flick at an early as can be screening... Will we see it on screen? Will we see it this year? Will we see it in time for Halloween? I hope so... here ya go....

Hi! I've always done alot of reading on upcoming and current movies, but
never submit, even when someone does days after. This one I figured you
would want. There has
been alot of Jason X news floating around, especially with the release dates
moved from April 13th to August 17th, now said to be October 12th. Jason has
been seen in pictures for the new movie, but they are trying to keep it
relatively top secret what he looks like after he has his cyborg make-over.
I sincerely thought it would be better than this. It looks like something
out of the computer games "Fallout" 1 and 2. I had such high hopes. Who
knows? Maybe in the set, with dark backgrounds and glowing lights it won't
be half bad, but he could have been better. It does seem to be the actual
cyber Jason from the movie, because it is a promotional standee that is in
production for the movie.
Thanks, and keep up your constant updates. Its a daily routine to check out
whats new here.

I am talking about the site, not the picture.

he does...and that guy from power Rangers...whatsisname...Zed !! I think.
-
I think the new Jason rocks! Yeah, maybe it could've been a little better, but I'm happy with his new look. If New Line was smart, they would release Jason X this summer while the buzz is good and strong.

Another installment in an ever decreasing series that was shit t
by pupkin
The only concern I have is that it will not only be released, but enough people will go and see it to convince them to make another, instead of focussing production time and money on developing new ideas for horror. It can't win, even if its not as bad as it looks, its still a childish and tired idea that needs to be laid to rest in concecrated soil, under a full moon, whilst a priest reads Catholic prayer, and Rabbi chants in Hebrew. Just to be sure.
-
you can't kill jason off yet.. he's got glowing, red eyes now. that's erm, new and.. refreshing.
-
Looks kitschy, I don't think it's that frightening or cool looking. Still, could look a lot worse. Cafeman's right: Zed from Power Rangers all the way (aye yie yie, Zordon! Whatever chall we do?). I suppose it's all about context (i.e. lighting and camera angles) but even if you photograph a lump of excrement in the proper light and at the proper angle it will still look like $#!t. Take care, good morning, Go-Go Power Rangers.

I've been a fan of this series since I was eight years-old. I've seen all but two of them on the big screen( I was too young to get in at the time), and want nothing more than to see this movie sometime before I die( or grow-up). Jason Vorhees is a horror film icon. Along with The Creature From The Black Lagoon, Michael Myers, and Frankenstein, he deserves more respect than this. Come on, Warner Bros. had the balls to put out Batman & Robin (Damn you, Joel Schumacher! Damn you to Hell!!!), so I'm sure it's not that bad. So now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

I wonder where a person who is dead for 20 years goes to get cybernetic implants? How does he pay for it? Maybe his insurance covered it. Maybe he could recommend Freddy a good cyber-doc.

this is a promotioal standee for the McFarlane doll... ant to see Jason X this year

This is modeled after the first regenetation stage by the nanbot
by uncapie
The nanobots completely rebuild Jason so that his entire body is made of armour. As for the release date, it has been pushed back until 2002, a very dumb move because the best time to release this film would have been in the summer or October around Halloween. It would be guaranteed a profit, if marketed right. Currently, New Line is restructuring its whole company. In a nutshell, they have put all their eggs in one basket with "Lord Of the Rings" hoping that this will be their "Star Wars." If it doesn't make big bucks for them, the coimpany will be financially crippled. They'll be ripe for a takeover or go under the way Orion did.

Yeah, I have to admit, I'm a big "Jason" fan! Except for 6,7 and "Final Friday"! I truly believe that "Jason X" will rock! And I do like that sculpt above! Can't wait!
-
I gather that this is a promo photo of the sculpt for UberJason from series 4 of Movie Maniacs, due in stores Aug/Sept of this year. Fair enough.
Seeing that New Line are playing hot and cold with releasing Jason X and that this figure was supposedly kept under wraps until the film's release, will we actually be able to buy this figure this year, or have New Line managed to nix that too ? -
So very very, LAME! I mean c'mon, they had two options here. Either go with a design that was obviously cliche and kinda mock the original, or give him a makeover and make him even more badass.
instead they took the third option and made him look like some reject from the Unisol factory -
I'm a Jason Voorhees fan. I really am. I celebrate the man's entire catalogue. For my money, it just doesn't get any better than when Jason Voorhees slammed that girl in a sleeping bag up against a tree in Part 7. hehe. Jason rules and a lot of you "film geeks" should lighten up. Not every film can be directed by P.T. Anderson or Steven Soderburg. The Friday the 13th films aren't the scarriest of horror films out there, but they're pretty damn fun. So, to all you naysayers of Jason X, shut up because I don't want to hear it. Go talkback in Ebert's message board or whatever. This site's for film geeks only and some of you don't seem to fit in at all. Release Jason X in August, New Line. Good luck with the film!

CRAP
-
Give him dreadlocks and he'd be a dead(no pun intended..hehe)ringer for the Predator.
-
Didn't he get sucked into Hell in the last film? What's the explanation going to be of how he comes back this time?
-
The new and improved Jason kinda looks like between Shredder from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Lord Zedd from Power Rangers. And I think the crew of The Grendel need a can opener to defeat Jason at the end of the movie.
-
It really pisses me off that this film is being held back by New Line. There's alread a lot of buzz (both good and bad) going on about it. By the time 2002 comes around, most people probably won't even care about Jason X anymore. Hell, some are already getting tired of it. This thing has been in the can for how long now? And the release date gets pushed back. I guess I just don't understand hollywood. I actually enjoy friday the 13th films, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I've been looking forward to this movie since I heard it was being produced. I don't think the movies are very scary, but they are fun as hell. I just wish New Line would release this one some time soon.
-
ARRRRGH, i've been keeping up with this film since pre-production, LAST summer! I remember that they were gonna MAYBE have it out LAST OCTOBER 13th, and i was looking forward to it then! Then it was pushed back to this past april.. oops, pushed back again. This August! Yes, finally -- now i can go tell all my friends at school to be on the lookout this summer for it, and they'll think of me when it comes out in the summer and go "hey, that kid knows what he's talkin about! " .. Uum, i guess i'll be going back to school next fall and still be telling those people to keep their eyes peeled.. i'm gettin sick of this. It reminds me of the phantasm sequel that probably won't ever get made. They can't find the money or the backing to put it out. But it would be a smash if it did come out, most likely . Now, we've got what might have previously been a similar situation, except they GOT the money and MADE the movie! Now it's benig held back.. laaaame
-
Does anyone not think that he will be shot into space? I mean, what the hell else would happen, the ship blows up while two people escape in some sort of crazy pod conveyance?
-
I've already seen it and I liked it. It's not "Citizen Kane", but its an escapist, popcorn movie. The plot is well thought out and it comes to a final, full circle conclusion of the series. As I said before, New Line is putting all their eggs in one basket with "Lord Of the Rings." That's their crapshoot that they're focusing on. If "LOTR" doesn't perform as huge cash cow, see you at the slaughterhouse.
-
i think the whole jason in space thing is the biggest piece of garbage ive ever heard of, im an old school jason fan who believes that #6 can never be beat, but the first thing that they can do is at least have him at camp crystal lake
-
Well lets see. I think it looks ok and all but i seriously think its a step up after all. Think about its the fukkin future what yall expect. I mean im a jason fan as well as the next person but dont expect much from the movie. To me its a waste (not to see it, im talkina bout making the film). They should have at least stick with the basix ya know, campers and counsulors dying vicously and grusomely now thats the way to go. But to me he reminds me of robocop by the leg and shred by the chest and zed by the face. Y not make him look like the terminator and call it a day lol. The film says these pilots from space comes to earth as a feild trip and finds two human popsicles, one woman and the killer himself Jason Vorheeves. (Basically the film mite be a flop by first run during its release.) But i tell ya one thing Freddy vs. Jason is goin to kick ass. Rumors say its about a kid being killed by "invisible Freddy" and the case runs through Crystal Lake where we meet Jason. So the 2 squares off. Now thats what i want to see. Anyway i said too much. (sorry)

This will probebly be the ONLY good Jason Film, as for the rest.
by punkrawkradical
When money talks bull shit walks...Thats all this is, same goes for every other horror flick made ever since the first HalloweeN film...But I have a feeling that this Jason movie might just be the best Friday13th yet. All the other Fridays are just simply boring, they're also TOO cheezy. But most of all they are simply boring, with absolutely no suspense or scaryness(if thats a word)...Each movie of the friday series is exactly the same, confusing plot that always changes out of no where, beginnings that pick up where ending DIDN'T leave off, shitey ass soundtrack, the only difference is the teens and the setting, thats all. These movies are made to of course attract teens and money...Ever since the masterpice "HalloweeN", copycat films on a mission for money have been spreading like mad...The pathetic scream and i know what you did teeny bop movies that arent even true horrors, but this next jason movie is actually a step up in my book...Ive seen a few pics tho, and im disappointed with the futuristic design of the ship and the new jason look, seems too spandex/ovely, and the soundtrack is disappointing, they could of used some rippin heavy futuristic music instead, like music that we hear on the very first EVOLUTION teaser/trailer...I also dont like THE new design of jason, i the the idea of A new design but not THE design they chose...
