It’s a new syndicated series from Marvel. It’s about mutants. It’s causing 20th Century Fox, producer of the “X-Men” movies, to shake its corporate fist at Marvel.
Details have been scarce, but the Toronto Sun’s Claire Bickley at least knows a bit about "Mutant X's" premise and characters. Those characters, she says, include:
* Brennan (to be played by Victor Webster), who can conduct electricity.
* Emma (Lauren Lee Smith), a telepath who can influence other's emotions and behaviour.
* Shalimar (Victoria Pratt), whose DNA is half human-half animal.
* Jessie (Forbes March), who can alter his body density.
Hmmm. Isn’t Generation X’s Emma Frost a telepath who can influence others' emotions and behaviour? I’m just saying!
According to the Sun: ”Although the characters were developed with mutant aliases it has been decided that the aliases will be played down or not referred to at all.”
“The premise,” according to the Sun, “is that the world is filled with genetically altered people, mutant offshoots of medical experiments meant to create ‘designer babies.’ Some have super powers, some simply odd abilities (one supporting player can exfoliate trees). The public is not yet aware of the mutants in their midst and a covert agency called the Genetic Security Agency (GSA) is hunting them down. Mutant X's main four live and work together in a sanctuary run by their brilliant, slightly older leader Adam Xero.”
Major roles still to be cast include Adam Xero and the villainous head of the GSA.
