One Sheet Prototypes for MADE!!!

Published at:  Apr 06, 2001 4:26:59 AM CDT

Hey Folks, Harry here with something kinda cool... Some folks I know over in the wacky world of Artisan decided to send me an advance look at some poster ideas they had for Jon Favreau's new film... MADE... Interestingly enough the performance I'm most curious about seeing in the film is PETER FALK!!! Ya just don't see that guy in much, but when I have... I smile big time. I wonder which of these posters (if any of them) will be the final one. I guess we'll have to check the Official Site to see for certain which one ends up being THE poster... So for now check em out... which is your fave?

    mmmmm....

    by straxboy

...good tagline(ahem)....punchy....isnt that the kind of thing they normally reserve for Sandra Bullock movies, y'know..."the girl from 'xyz is BACK - and she's badder than ever!!!" Oh I know it's only a first design but I hope it improves with age. Gotta be a funnier mob comedy than Analyse Shit!

...But I think I would definitely have to go with #4. It's the most exciting out of the lot.

I beg of you please do not do a Blair Witch 3. The sequel set horror back ten years, and urinated on the brilliant original. Thank you for supporting Darren Arronosky, and bringing back the Swingers team. By the way, the last poster is the best in my opinion.

I like the "fight night" style posters up top. Looking forward to seeing this flick, actually.

If I was the guy who had to chose the final one of these posters

    by brokentusk

    I would shoot myself.

It's not that the posters aren't...ah...creative...
it's just that they kinda look...bad and done before.

I pick none of them, but I suppose the white one is the best of the lot in terms of coolness (what's up with "the guy's from 'Swingers' are back"? - that's just stupid)

    ... wait, there's more.

    by smurfette

I can't tell you how long me and my friends have been waiting to see this movie. The guys have big shoes to fill, because Swingers is such a classic, but with Columbo in the lineup they've got a shot (even with Piff-Diddy trying to be DMX and all). I thought Vinny Big Pussy was in it. Why are the names above the title in one and not the other? My vote is for the rad orange 70's poster.

I like the version without Puff Daddy

    by otis von zipper

Just kidding, but the presence of that name brings my excitement level down several notches. Swingers was a kick in the pants. Hope this one compares. So who did write the screenplay? Favreau? I'd have to go with the beat up poster since it says something about the movie at least.

Which one will preform the best IMHO...

    by thedanshadow

The white one, #2, is cool in an artsy austere kind of way, but Favreau's expression sucks. Look at it. He's trying to look tough but comes off as constipated. #3 has a fairly good design, but #4 has the best picture. There's a cool action going on...you sense a moment between Jon and Vince, and their moods contrast each other.

The person that needs to solve this poster dilemma is out there. His talents, strength and skill, will prevail. His name...Jason Lindeman.

I've heard of Jason Lindeman aka "the Lindy." His strength will be the guiding force in this aptly named "poster dilemma." His raw talent will outshine all of the other contestants, and his brilliance will blind you, Please get him on this project, STAT, he is our only hope.

    Go With the THIRD Poster

    by thekeenguy

The first two are reminiscent of the original Out of Sight poster, which, while trendy, obviosuly didn't do wonders for Out of Sight's gross (though EVERYONE should see Out of Sight). And the fourth poster pushes the "Swingers 2" theory too far. Some people just wouldn't go, because they are thinking the don't want to see the same movie again... But the third poster gives of the actors we recognize immediately from Swingers, and then shows us... these two guys are in for a LOAD of trouble. I want to see the movie based on the THIRD poster.

    None of the above, but...

    by dataset

If I had to choose, I would modify the photo on the first by printing black on blue instead of black on white. Offset the photo more like a silkscreen, Warhol style. Make it more future-retro with ultra simplicity. But what do I know? I'm from Dallas. We're all into Nascar and wrestling anyway. And sheep. And trucks. And our beloved Dubya. Yep. That's us Dallas folk. Art? We want fart jokes on our movie posters.

Numerous Reasons this story makes the hair on the back of my nec

    by llghtst0rmer

    (1) Jon Favreau. (2) Vince Vaughn. (3) Jon Favreau AND Vince Vaughn. (4) Puff Daddy. (5) Mob movies... they're DONE already. My GRANDMOTHER knows all there is to know about the fucking mafia at this point. (6) The Guys From Swingers are still _alive_... let alone "back." (7) Did I mention Puff Daddy? (8) The straight-from-the-80's-buddy-movie tag line. (9) See numbers 1-8.

I half-expected to find a credit for "Danielle Von GershdinMOOSE," a la Monty Python & The Holy Grail. (I wonder if they got the 1000 trained llamas to do a script re-write....)
