Ashley Judd to play Selina Kyle in CATWOMAN

Hey folks, Harry here... and sometimes the trades make me laugh so hard I have to breath into a papersack...Today was one of those moments when I turned to Variety to find out that Ashley Judd has signed onto CATWOMAN to play the lady patent leather and latex. Now that in and of itself wasn't the funny part, what was funny was the idea of saying that CATWOMAN was a rapidly developed project... I mean... It has spent massive years in development... Going from draft to draft to draft... from screenwriter to screenwriter so many times, I don't believe anyone could keep track.

It all started with Dan Waters (HEATHERS, HUDSON HAWK, HAPPY CAMPERS, MODEL DAUGHTER & BATMAN RETURNS) then moved onto
Laeta Kalogridis (BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN, THE FOUNTAIN SOCIETY, LUCRETIA, A TASTE FOR DEATH and TOMB RAIDER)
then onto
Theresa Rebeck (HARRIET THE SPY, GOSSIP, WENDY AND THE LOST BOYS, MILITARY RAPE and WIRED)
then onto
Kate Candella - sole credit
then finally onto
Christine Roum (BODYGUARD II, 'Law & Order', A STAR IS BORN remake, EVERY DAY and DON'T SAY A WORD).

And the drafts started about a week after BATMAN RETURNS opened in theaters. Stay tuned though... Moriarty and I are on the case to find out as much as we can...

All I want to know is where is the picture of the CATSUIT!
-
...but there's no life after Michelle Pfeiffer. Purrrrrrrrrrrr.
By the way, today is the comicbookfreakyday, isn't it? -
Sorry, but Ashley Judd has all the charisma, talent, and presence of a thumb tack. Stupid goddamn Hollywood execs, out to miscast and ruin another potentially cool film. Oh well...I'm pissed off.
-
I don't care what anyone says, Julie Newmar was the greatest Catwoman of all time. And I don't mind seeing Ashley Judd in the role. The key, as always, is whether or not the script is any good.
-
She is the only true Catwoman, just the right mix of sassiness, attitude, the figure, the height, sheer perfection. Judd's allright, I suppose, but she'll never take Newmar's place !!!
(Point made, with NO pussy jokes. I'm improving !) -
Thanks for that Rogues' Gallery, Harry. I still think that Julie Newmar was the best - Eartha Kitt makes a grand villainess (check her out in "The Emperor's New Groove"), but she just looked scary in the catsuit. And not in a good way.
That reminds me, Harry - how come we never got a review of "The Emperor's New Groove"? It was hilarious! -
I hadn't seen one of those Lois Lane covers in a couple of decades. Aaaaah, the silver age of comics. (Sigh...things ain't what they used to be....)
-
I can't abide her cutesy-perky facsimilie of a personality and her incessant quest for a movie that will catapult her to the A-list. She doesn't want to do her time as an actress, she wants to slingshot on the backs of weepy chick flicks. I find her barely attractive, dull to watch, and quite frankly grating in all the ways Catwoman should not be. I worship Catwoman as much as the next fangirl, but I don't think I can lower my standards to see Ashley Judd ruin the character. If this film happens, I will not be a part of the audience.

by silentbob x
Judd is perfect to play Catwoman,
I'll say that. But, could someone
tell me why this project has
languished for so long on the
draft board? I mean, it's been
9 years(Since Batman Returns) How long does it take to write a blockbuster script? Let's hope this gets made before next summer and preferably doesn't open near Ep II's opening so it won't get
ignored. I also hope Harry or some jizzlicker at Variety isn't yanking our chains. I hate April Fool's day with a fucking vengeance! BTW, wouldn't Janeane
be perfect to play the original
Spiderwoman(Jessica Drew)? Well,
I can dream, can't I? Snootch to
the Nootch. -
She's hot off her first big hit in years(WLB), so why wouldn't they try to get her back in the role? Judd would be a good replacement though.
-
why oh why couldn't Joel Shumacher be heterosexual??
-
She would make a great catwoman soooo sexy. Any of you dorks have the University of Kentucky hockey poster with her on it, ohh those legs. The Rebecca Gayheart one isn't bad either.

Amen Brothers, JULIE NEWMAR IS THE ONE TRUE CATWOMAN!!!!!
by thedukeofnewyork
You know they were gonna go with the costume from the comic books with the dress and the cape and she sewed together the original super tight form fitting Catsuit herself. Julie Newmar is probably the sexiest woman in the history of television. I mean, come on she brought sexuality to an otherwise assinine show for children. Goddamn, she was hot! Remember those episodes where she'd be all "Why don't you join me Batman, all you have to do is ditch bird boy" and Adam West would be all "I can't let you hurt Robin". I was always like "let her kill that little pansy and fuck her brains out, you big dumb fruit !" If there were ever a candidate for immediate cloning it is Ms. Julie Newmar hands down. Clone up a whole batch a Julies and sell them on the black market to all us drooling fanboys. Seriously though, does this mean they're writing Catwoman out of Batman Year One because that would suck.

Phew! Anyone got a Kleenex? -
Ashley Judd is a very capable actress. She is adept at bringing an aching humanity dillrod to the roles that she plays. She was simply amazing in EYE OF THE BEHOLDER, and pretty much carried Double Jeapardy, thereby saving the film from itself. She would be an incredible Catwoman. Plus, she is one of the finest cuts of she-veal that has ever shrunken my pants. She really chowders my hormonal dillrod, while warming my emotional dillrod at the same time - thereby creating a dual syncronous butterfly stomach celebrity stalker dillrod. I wish that she would show up on my doorstep stark naked on a rainy night, covered in blood. I love that scene...

Who, other than a retard, wants to sit through a Catwoman movie.
by wee willie
They did all they could with that lame character in Batman Returns, which, other than it's production design, sucked goat ass. And of all the interesting actresses out there, why would they pick a white-bread mayonaise cake-eater like Ashley Judd. I'd sooner eat my own foot than sit through anything with her in it besides HEAT. Is there no end to the fountainhead of lame ideas that flow from Hollywood?
-
Julie Newmar. Yessiree. Boy howdy. Dammit, why isn't my computer showing the picture of Ms. Newmar!!?? Anyway, Michelle P. was a great Catwoman. Awesome. She even rivaled the ultimate Catwoman, Julie W. But I remember how disappointed i was when I heard Annette Bening had to drop out of the role. I thought she would be great and that Michelle would not be as good. So, perhaps Ashley Judd (who I really like, but can't imagine as Catwoman) will surprise us in the way Michelle surprised me back then.
-
Theyve left this one a bit late haven't they?I thought the whole point of a Catwoman film , was to cash in on the success of Pheiffers appearance in Batman Returns. Now that another actress has been cast{ Not surprisingly as pheiffer just doesn't look like a kitten these days} so that all seems somewhat pointless.By the way , the only actress who actually looks llike the comic version of S.Kyle these days is Julie Strain...shes exact.I suspect that the currant comic artist is basing his version on her. Finally nice to see that another talk backer , realizes what a hot bitch Janeane garofolo is...i thought I was alone in the world on that one!
-
I think Angelina Jolie would make a pretty rockin' Catwoman. Charlize Theron would look good, too. And Liz Hurley in a catsuit, anybody? But otherwise Ashley Judd is fine - she is certainly gorgeous enough.
-
Either go with that Slice of American Pie, Shannon Elizabeth (picture HER in a catsuit - woofah!) or go the full-bore Bettie Page route and squeeze Jennifer Connally into a spandex bodysuit. Sure, she's probably out of shape right now, but a month of no-dessert din-dins and a couple hundred situps would cure that problem. I always had the feeling Mah Jen-nay would make a most-excellent super villianix.

Ashley Judd: Just The Pussy I've Been Looking For.......
by rightwing dude
Someone had to post it! It may as well be me!
-
Ashley Judd, whilst a sweet piece of eye candy, has about as much personality as a sack of doorknobs onscreen and can't pull off Catwoman. Now, Liz Hurley on the other hand, has THE LOOK and goes nice with leather. If she could only drop the manly English accent...
-
I'd much rather see a Tigra movie starring Angelina Jolie. West Coast Avengers and Tigra sleeping with giant cat men from an alternate dimension took me through my teenage years. All that golden furr, mmmmmmmm. And if this should ever happen on screen, I pray for the teeny blue bikini and not the sports bra that the animated series artists came up with.
-
NOOOOO!!! What a boring, typical Hollywood idea! I for one can't stand Ashley Judd. She's been in one decent movie, Heat, and she was far from the star attraction in that. She's an average actress at best. And in the looks department she's not all that. She's been lucky so far, career-wise, but she'll be found out for the no-talent hack she is. Just about anybody else that was mentioned would make a better Catwoman. And true, both Newmar and Pfeiffer oozed sexuality without even trying. I hope that this movie is about as successful as Supergirl, that way we won't have to suffer through Judd's cutesy act anymore. Okay, I'm done ranting.
-
Namely the Sleazy G factor. (Nice to see that we're in the same age bracket my friend. Bananarama in High School indeed.) And what's intolerable is the fact that haven't added my own sassy brand of objectifying sexism to this discussion. Brace yourself. ***** To the fellow who mentioned Jennifer Connelley, let's just stop right there: Connelley IS Wonder Woman, period, and they'd better make that sucker fast before she gets too old (see what I mean? I'm a sexist jerk). As for Catwoman, I'm of the mind that you can stick Charisma Carpenter in just about anything and have it sound like a good idea. I like my comic book characters to be more full-bodied, if you catch my drift; except for maybe Harley Quinn. I could see Ashely Judd in motley. In fact, send that idea to Judd's agent and see what happens.
-
I too, can't get enough of Jennifer Connelly. I thought she was cute in Labyrinth, but then Rocketeer came along and, BAM!!! Full blown sex goddess. And I've been a fan ever since. Man, did you see that movie, Career Opportunities? This guy and Jennifer are trapped in a department store with a couple of burglars and hilarity ensues. Okay, not really high cinema, but she is such a piece of ass in that movie that I HAVE to watch it every time it airs. Whew, what was this talkback about again? Oh yeah, Judd, Catwoman, whatever.
-
Had some episodes on Sci-Fi just today. Man alive! I remember being hot for her at eight! (Latency period? Who had a latency period?)
-
...who cares about a possible plot? Other than the obvious joy of seeing a hot girl in tight leather (which if that was the only point I'd sit through that GOD AWFUL Black Scorpion shit) what IS the point? I read a few Catwoman comics but they never really seemed too interesting. Her only interest as a character for me was her relationship with Batman (other than the T&A factor as mention). The boy scout and the bad girl. I think that's why it has taken so long to get the movie going. "Hey! Hot lead actress in tight outfit superhero movie what a great idea!" "What's it going to be about?" "Uh, um, uh, I don't know..." Will it be a high adventure heist/caper flick with superheroes? A regular comic flick with super villians and the like? And who the hell would be the villian if there was a clear cut one? Of course, with the seeming upcoming flood of comic movies, some are bound to be real stinkers, and a catwoman movie has farther to climb than others I think. T & A is nice, but I need a little more to get me involved nowadays... after all, I can buy porn.
-
Yeah, I though Ensign Leffler was pretty hot, and she was in more than one episode, but I'm not quite nerdy enough to know exactly how many. I still like Judd, and think she is pretty and can act well enough. But I think she is too thin to really fill out a catsuit. Same goes for Charlize Theron. Connely is a great suggestion, except she would make an even better WW. Charisma Carpenter is a great idea, but she is too unproven for the title role of a big movie. I wish they would take a chance on her though. How about Salma Hayek? She has the curves and the sexy charm. She can do attitude. She's a little short though. Denise Richards can fill a catsuit, but..um.. lacks subtlety. You know, a little over the TOP. This sucks. Even I don't like my ideas. Maybe they can pad Judd's suit for her like Britney Spears does. That could work.
-
Don't get me wrong, she's gorgeous, but can you imagine Catwoman with that thick accent?? Yeah, me neither. Now, Denise Richards... hmm.. your suggestion intrigues me... Subtlety?? My god, man!! It's Catwoman!! What's subtle about that?
-
I was always an Emma Peel man, myself. Still, Catsuited Totty is Catsuited Totty. If Judd can turn her image around, this might be kinda cool.
-
Yes. Yes I can imagine a woman named Selena having an accent. But can she kick butt? Thats another question. Denise Richards is one cup size from absurd. With the right costume it could work. But you would need some restraint. At some point it becomes campy. Watch 7 of 9 or Michelle as catwoman, and then watch something like Barb Wire. One is overtly sexy, and the other is trampy and lacks taste.
Seth, you've gone a ruined the whole dream by pointing out that the thing actually should have a story. I hate you for being right. -
Loving the images of Jennifer Connely as Catwoman. Aronofsky, think about it. My vote for Wonder Woman would have to be for Michelle Forbes. Connely seems too childlike. She still looks like the young woman in Hot Spot (check that one out JC fans). Forbes was last seen in the show Homicide and a bit part in Escape from LA (amongst other things over the years like Next Generation). She looks like she could kick some serious ass.

Ten actresses who'd be a better Catwoman than Ashley Judd...
by martinblank
1. Michelle Pfeiffer. I mean, c'mon, tell me she didn't kick all ass in 'Batman Returns.' Since she was never likely to reprise the role and especially not now... *** 2. Rose McGowan. Worth sitting through 'Monkeybone' just to see her as Miss Kitty. Rrrowrr. *** 3. Fairuza Balk. Also would love to see her realize her hope of playing Death if the Gaiman film ever gets made. *** 4. Catherine Keener, if you want to go a little older. Proof? 'Being John Malkovich.' Hssss. *** 5. Lena Olin, if you wanted to go even a little older still. Proof? 'Romeo Is Bleeding.' *** 6. Lucy Liu. Her whip-cracking corporate dominatrix scene in 'Charlie's Angels' may as well have been a dry run for Selina Kyle. Yeah, she's Asian, so what? Eartha Kitt is African-American and she played the role. *** 7. Minnie Driver. That jawline was made for a superheroine mask. *** 8. Courtney Love. Since she won't be kicking ass in 'Ghosts of Mars,' let her kick ass in this. *** 9. Famke Janssen, except she already has a recurring superheroine role on her plate; same goes for Carrie-Anne Moss. *** 10. Rosie O'Donnell. Because even Rosie O'Donnell would be better than Ashley Judd. ******* On a related topic, does anyone else wish they could hop into Doc Brown's DeLorean, zip back to 1994 or so, and fix things so that Tim Burton and Michael Keaton could make a kick-ass third and FINAL 'Batman' film in a trilogy and bring in Winona Ryder as a female Robin a la 'Dark Knight Returns'? Just dreamin.
-
That is since Pfieffer isn't in the running anymore for whatever reason (she's old, I know). The great thing about Judd is that she's not flavor of the month anymore and in fact needs something to keep her around in H-wood since she hasn't been in a good movie since...hell, Normal Life? Hmm. Anyway, glad Jolie didn't bite on this one since she was most likely offered it, being a more recent and Oscar winning flavor. She would have been a boring choice since she already purrs so much. Yeah, I think Judd will score with this one like Pfeiffer did because she is in a position to really surprise. To be rediscovered like Pfeiffer was. But one proposed piece of casting I heard about back in the Batman Returns days that interested me, and still does, was Burton's idea to have Robin played by Winona Ryder. That would have been great -- a female Robin. Not so much "female" but that her look and body type fit that part somehow even though...well, I assume she doesn't have a dick. Can anybody back that up? I don't want to spread any bad info on AICN because I haven't yet been able to back that point up.
-
Second, any Batman fan worth his salt hates the Burton movies. That was not Batman. That was Burtonman. Horrible. Thirdly, I have to be honest, I have some reservations about your Catwoman suggestions. For example, Catherine Keener? Please, I beg you, put down the crack pipe and think about that for a moment. And Milktoast, if you're listening, Marlon Wayans (of the Wayans bros.) was actually cast as Robin for Batman Returns. He part was cut from the script before filming.
-
...OH, and my Wonder Woman vote also goes to Connelly, probably the most talented of the bunch, too. Just picture it, fellas.
-
Julie Benz. She got the looks and DEFINATELY the voice. She also a fairly good character actress to boot. But now,as a few others have said, what's about the plot and story?

that's really all i have to say, except that nicholas cage would make a better superman than naomi judd's less talented daughter would make a good catwoman. yeah, i went to u.k. i have seen ashley judd in person. it ain't pretty.
-
I remember hearing about it back around the time of the 2nd Burton BATMAN flick, but since then--nothing. I don't know quite how it could happen except in a low/mid-budget, "BLADE" sort of way. It should be interesting to see what transpires--I remember seeing a script online once, perhaps I should dig it out. . .
-
Bug here. Must..add...coments..to this droolfest. I don't see this film moving into development, but I'll play along. I am kind of impartial to Ashley Judd. She ain't great, but she ain't that bad. The ultimate Catwoman of today has to be Angelina Jolie. Holy Methuselah, seeing her in that black leather would sure straighten out my antennae. I also have to agree that no one else but Jennifer Connely should go near a Wonder Woman film. She would be perfect as Diana. Mmmmm and mmmm again. And don't forget Faruzia Balk as Harley Quinn. She's creepy and kooky and all together ooky. Perfect for Harley Quin.
-
Please tell me that was a joke UNBANNABLE. Ashley Judd as Catwoman? It may work, but she wouldn't have been my first choice
or anywhere from 2nd to 100th for that matter. -

Jennifer Connelly as Wonder Woman? Oh, by Aphroditie's leather c
by sith lord jesus
I have to say, casting her would truly be inspired. I've loved her since I first saw her in THE ROCKETEER, and she was magnificent in DARK CITY and REQUIEM FOR A DREAM. It's true, she's a total Goddess, and not only that the woman can ACT, unlike Ashley Judd. I'm still partial (MORE then partial in fact) to Lucy Lawless playing my favorite Amazon warrior, but yes, Jenni-chan could definately pull off the role if called upon. However. . .neither one in the part means ANYTHING unless there is first a DECENT SCRIPT. If it's just a 2-hour T&A droolfest featuring lots of shower scenes then it WILL bomb. Remember CYOTE UGLY? Neither does anyone else. Sorry guys, but I want a Wonder Woman movie accorded the same tender loving care lavished on the first two Superman films, the first two Batman movies, BLADE, and THE X-MEN. I want an EPIC reinvention of the character, by goddess, nothing else will do. As for CATWOMAN. . .well, as I said before, I can't see this thing moving forward beyond a mid/small-budget attempt, if at all. As someone else asked, what would it be ABOUT?
-
Courtney Love as catwoman
i just think catwoman needs cojones and vamp and charm and beauty. i mightve said angelina jolie if she already wasnt laura croft. it just needs to be someone who men can be really really attracted to and fear at the same time, although michelle did a fine job in Returns. -
The only one who could play catwoman is Pfeiffer. Besides i
-
She's beautiful, plain and simple.

heh heh. I don't smoke the crack or do the drugs. (I was expectin some flak though, so that's ok) I like Keener, she has attitude. Main point of my post was, anyone but Ashley "I wanna be in show business too except I can't sing so I'll be in movies" Judd. Let her pursue her craft on Lifetime movies. *** I liked what Burton did with his Batfilms also, it wasn't Bob Kane's Batman or Frank Miller's Batman or whoever else's Batman, but one thing's for sure, it DAMN SURE wasn't Joel Schumacher's Batman! *** But as the man said - "There's your opinion and there's my opinion, and they're just takin separate cars this time, that's all" :)

Stop thinkin' with the little head, fellow geeks. Connelly ain't
by dave_f
Yes, she's a decent actress. Yes, she's magically babe-licious. NO, she doesn't have the kind of presence and charisma you need to play a warrior princess chick. She's too feminine, too voluptuous, and I just can't picture her kicking ass by any means. My own casting choice has always been Julianna Margulies, a top notch actress who even resembles Wonder Woman from the George Perez run of the comic (the run that, not coincidentally, should serve as the bible for any serious Wonder Woman flick). Here're some Margulies pics to back up mah claim: http://www.001pics.com/margul~1.html **** I like the look - she's in shape (check them abs) and pretty damn cute, but not such a babe that her looks would be a constant distraction, or that we couldn't picture her being a take-charge bad-ass. Could pass reasonably for Greek too. Only problem is that she's about 35, probably a little too old to open a franchise. Long-rumored Catherine Zeta-Jones might work though. Her Welsh ancestry and exotic good looks give her the chameleon-like ability to blend into a wide variety of racial types. Solid actress too, as her performance in "Traffic" and even "The Mask of Zorro" will attest. Seriously, though, forget the Jennifer Connelly fantasies. If the sex appeal is all you see in Wonder Woman, campaign to have Maxim do a photo spread of her wearing the costume. Hell, I'd buy that for a dollar. But Wonder Woman has the potential to be as important a superhero as big man Superman his own bad self, so let's not screw her screen debut over by letting our libidos do the casting. And read the George Perez run before you question my omnipotent wisdom, dammit. ***** As far as Catwoman goes...sorry, but she ain't worthy of a movie. She's actually one of Batman's *least* interesting baddies, being notable almost exclusively for her sex appeal and nothing else. Giving her a movie will only dilute Batman's big screen status since the poor guy hasn't even had a decent flick of his own yet. Ashley Judd's cute, and Julie Newmar's Catwoman had the same...er..."formative" effect on me as she seems to have had on many Talkbackers...but I hope this project falls apart soon. It's good Maxim material and not much else. They should give over a whole issue to various Hollywood starlets trying on the latex so we can get the fetishism out of our system. Everyone will think clearer afterwards.
-
I'm sure Jennifer Connelly would be great, but the list for Wonder Woman begins and ends with Catherine Zeta-Jones. She's got that regal air that is a requirement for WW.
-
Dude, you're asking me if I'm gay and then, in the same sentence declaring that Julie Newmar is the QUEEN OF ALL YOUR DREAMS? Remember that trannie movie with Wesley Snipes? Newmar is a HUGE gay icon. Anyhw, the reson I don't like Catwoman or any other movie based on a comic book is because at their root, all they are is grown-ups in tights pretending to have superpowers. It's trite, it's boring (to me at least), and it's totally not my bag, baby. All power to anyone who likes this stuff, I just don't. Although I am a hypocrite because I love the Superman movies. Thing is there's only one woman who should play catwoman. Jessica Alba.
-
But I can practically hear your patent leather cat suit squeaking as you typed your last post, clutching a martini in one hand, a long slim Kool between your pursed, indignant lips. I bet you'd scratch Ashley Judd's eyes out if you could, for daring to try to carry on the torch lit by Julie Newmar, the S&M bitch-godess of your wet dreams.
-
But you wrote: "Hey man, Last time I checked sexually fanticizing about a 6 foot woman with 38, 23, 38 measurements was the furthest thing from gay." Allow me to retort: Hey man, the last time I checked, having actual SEX with an actual FEMALE was the furthest thing from gay. The 'fanticizing' you describe sounds INCREDIBLY gay to me. Oh my God man, is it possible for you to not shove your foot in your mouth?
-
I'm drowning in testosterone! Hahah...seriously, all you guys admitting your childhood fetishes because of a single TalkBack is funn-Y. Too bad there's not a Captain America news item, then we could be even ;)****Ashley Judd: could take her or leave her. She was good at playing mean in Eye of the Beholder, even though the script was tripe. Never saw Double Jeopardy -- avoided it, in fact. She's sexy, but not in a warm sweat and latex way, more frigid. She'd actually make a better Poison Ivy I'd venture. Julie Newmar is the most amazing looking woman -- and she's still hot. Julie Strain however, IS A MAN, BABY! Angie Harmon for Wonder Woman, maybe...Jennifer Connoly, absolutely not! She's too squishy (btw, squishy is nice, just not for WW...). She's also got those really cute carrot chompers out front which prevent me from taking her seriously at all.****I must ask what the point of this movie is. Okay, maybe not, but I'm guessing to sell toys and indulge teenage fantasies. Catwoman is a good supporting character, but she loses her appeal when Bats isn't around. Same for Wonder Woman outside of the JLA, IMHO. I think the script would have to be REALLY good.
-
I suppose you want a shot of her tied up every other frame as well? Hahah... Wonder Woman has evolved beyond the "naive to the outside world" character she debuted as. If they try to sell me that cheesecake fluff, I will be very disappointed (which is what it sounds like when people like Mariah Carey are rumored for the role). This is exactly why I don't care for her outside of the confines of the JLA. Cormorant, as for the George Perez run, it bores me and I don't like the way he draws WW, or pretty much any female character for that matter (although he is a good storyteller). Also, Catherine Zeta Jones in in her thirties as well. The problem with Margulis is she doesn't have sex appeal to a wide audience. Angie Harmon is too petite, so is Carrie Ann Moss. Get an unknown.
-
But anytime I see a comic where all the action takes place on Amazon Island, I'm out. It just doesn't interest me because the point of having her in Man's World is so she can interact with it. And Wonder Woman doesn't belong to just America anymore. Neither do Batman or Superman, but, she's more international than either of them. So what are we going to see? Her stable of villains, quite frankly, sucks. Terrorists? A mad scientist? That's why I think she's better off in a team where she can do the fish-out-of-water thing played of their personalities with their villains, it just seems more appealing.
-
Actually, fantasizing about women would be more heterosexual than having sex with them (unless you're a woman yourself). Plenty of gay men know women in the biblical sense', although probably in the bonus-biblical sense too...they're probably not thinking about women when they're doing it though. Lots of repressed homosexuals go out and get to know scads and scads of women 'in the biblical sense' as a form of denial about their true desired lifestyle. The reverse is also true. I know when I'm getting reemed by a gang of countercounterculture Hells Angels, I'm thinking about chicks as much as possible, just to keep my psyche on the up and up.***Margulies as Wonder Woman? I don't see it. Her face looks like a horse. If I was her, and Hippolyta molded me out of clay, I'd be like, 'thanks Hipp, but why does my face look like a horse'. Besides, she always has this expression like her ovaries fell out, and she can't find them again...she always has this mopey, sad, 'i'd pluck my eyebrows but i can't get a WeedWhacker that close to my face' look. I really don't give a rats ass though. I'd go see a Howard The Duck sequel before I'd go see a Wonder Woman movie that wasn't suffixed with something like 'Does Dallas'.*** I'll bet I've known a lot more women 'in the biblical sense' than Comedian! But, then again, I used to teach Sunday School, so maybe that's unfair.*** The panty hating Ashley Judd may not be the consensus choice for Catwoman, but I can say this about her...she hates panties. I think it's about time young women of today finally got a role model like this.*** I have more to say, but I hear motorbikes on my lawn. Peace Out.
-
Catwoman don't do much for me. Pfeiffer was great in "Batman Returns" and I pulled up this article because as a geek I'm required to scan all comic related bits. Ashley Judd is a weak choice. My wife looked at the monitor while I read the article and said " Y'kow who would be a good Catwoman? -- Calista Flockhart ! " I said " That's nice, dear", bit my lip and kept reading. So I don't have an opinion on Catwoman, but I want to share 2 comic-babe opinion that have been touched on here. I always thought Winona Ryder would've been an excellent Batgirl. A bit bookish to handle the Barbara Gordon aspect of the part, but with a spark to fit the part (and a bod that would fill a Yvonne Craig-style Batsuit in the most amazing way) but Joel Shoefucker screwed the whole Bat- franchise so what're you gonna do. As far as Harley Quinn, I think they could do a lot worse than Jenny McCarthy. What do you say ?
-
You got me. I still hold that her supporting cast is dumb as dirt, and nearly EVERY CHARACTER IS DERIVATIVE OF HER IN SOME WAY (Amazons, Wondergirl, Artemis, Donna Troy. The title of the book should be called "Amazon Island". It's almost as bad as Batman and all his bat-babies running around Gotham. I do like her arrogance, tho. It's one of my favorite aspects of her character. I also think characterizing her as naive is, um, naive...she has an innocent quality. Well, maybe she's naive in that her dating choices could potentially break up the JLA, but other than that, not too naive.
-
Sleazy m'man! Being tied up, or tying up others has NOTHING to necessarily do with sadomasochism. It's a power thing...whether you chose to exercise that power with pain, pleasure, or charging your frat buddies $5 a pop for a peek is entirely up to you, your kinks, and your partner. For example, if I have this *ahem* friend, who wishes to tie up the pantyless Catwoman Ashley Judd spreadeagled over his coffee table, it doesn't necessarily mean that I, uh, he wants to spank, whip, or hurt her in anyway possible...it could just mean that he wants to drag ice cubes and feathers and popsicle shaped back massagers over her lithe naked body (she's still wearing the boots and mask) until she's calling him KingQuixote at the top of her lungs and tearfully begging him to tilt at her windmill ASAP! sigh...uh, yeah I have odd friends.
-
I, for one, would take Steve Rogers in OR out of costume.
-
for many people who consider themselves dominant, their primary function is to please their submissive...they just do so on the Dom's terms! Most submissives are that way because they need freedom from responsibility in order to enjoy themselves...this is why many men in powerful positions, CEO's etc., are often sexual submissives, as are women who come from a religious or otherwise sexually restrictive background. And there's totally nothing wrong with that...we all have are own kinks and preferences, and provided we don't hurt anybody in enjoying them, I say, go nuts!*** And Sleazy, I also like to give pleasure to my partner...I just don't need her to tell me how to do it. ;P

Any movie fan worth their salt likes Burton's Batman movies
by darthflagg
IMHO, of course. I have no objection to a new Catwoman, but I can't imagine any actress topping Pfeiffer's performance.
-
What the hell's going on here? I leave for a couple of hours and all hell breaks loose! I can't leave you kids alone for a minute, can I?? Leather fetishes, wooden clothespins on the nipples, sadomasochistic fantasies and other wierdness I'm not even going to go into. Anyway, Connelly is gorgeous, but all wrong for Wonder Woman. Frankly I can't think of any name actresses, off hand, who would be perfect for the role, so I say go with an unknown. Remember, Linda Carter was an unknown when she was cast as WW for the TV show. Someone suggested Jenny McCarthy as Harley Quinn. Perfect! I don't know, is she too goofy to make a credible Catwoman? She would definitely fill out that catsuit. I guess the question is moot since those idiots have already signed Ashley "No Talent" Judd. Okay, everybody play nice!

You started the whole "What are you gay?" thing. All I did was retort. But touche to your last post, dude. You got me there.

but I think he got you in his last TWO posts...didn't he?

ala inspector gadget was what i was goin for with the title. Anyway, everyone shut up. I want this movie made and i want it made a lot and yur criticism isnt helping!! Hell, we all want it made, no matter HOW bad it is!! When i saw angelina jolie in girl interrupted i seriously had a 'holy shit!! she is the purrfect catwoman!' thought(yes, i think to myself in puns as well:). but i dont think she should do it with her already doing tombraider and all. ashley judd i dont really care about. michelle pfeiffer IS too old, sorry to say it. she now plays wives and concerned parents like in story of us and other stuff. ID luv to see her in it but she is now knitted too tightly into that sweater. also, it would seriously make her and the movie seema bit more pathetic. the movie is a shaky idea as it is and making it 8 years after the idea was conceivably hotmakes pfeiffer look like shes pethetically trying to scoop up old glory and just shows how OLD the idea really is! i luv my michelle pfeiffer and all so i hope i havent sounded too harsh. also, did anyone hear of that catwoman tv series theyve thrown around and i think made a pilot of?? its out there, seriously, i saw it on dark horizons..baff

So what i want to know is, who plays Batman in this new Catwoman
by arcturus
Because, as you all know well and good, the Dark Knight just HAS to be in a Catwomen movie...it would be like a superman movie without Lois were it not the case. Well, I heard that Harry is auditioning for the blob in X-Men 2, but if he doesn't get that, I say he makes a play for the role of the caped crusader in Catwoman!

Jeezus GAWD, this is the sickest, most disgusting Talkback I've
by sith lord jesus
Ah, female superheros--they do bring out the beast in us all, do they not? I've had an idea for a live-action Lovely Angels movie for over a year now, but after reading some of the posts here I've a horrible feeling that I know how it would end up: "I'm Yuri and that's Kei. You've been a VERY naughty little criminal and you're going to be punished, so hold still while I apply the whipped cream. . ." 0.o; As Keneau would say, "whoa." Anyway, Cormorant, I've got to go with Sleazy_G on this one: Jennifer Connely CAN act, and as Wonder Woman she would really do great in the part. However, Sleaze-man, I have to part ways with you on Lucy Lawless--remember, Swartzenegger isn't the world's greatest actor and yet I can't imagine anyone else of that era in the role of Conan. It's the same with Lucy Lawless and my favorite Amazon. All WB needs to do is A.) hire a REALLY good scriptwriter; B.) drive a dumptruck full of money up to James Cameron's doorstep; C.) get Lucy Lawless or, yeah, Jennifer Connely on the phone (and hire Basil Poleouris for the score) and you will have a SEVERELY ass-kicking epic summer blockbuster. And yep: the George Perez version is exactly what needs to be filmed. Like it or not, LL has been playing a variation of Wonder Woman for years on Xena which is why she'd be great for the part. Like you, I am not interested in a stupid ass, brainless tits-and-spandex exploitation film. But let's go for broke! Think DeMille. Think Ridley Scott. Think Spielberg at the top of his game! What we need here is a huge, GLORIOUS 2 or yes even 3 hour long tour-de-force about the Greek Amazon warrior who comes to the world of men from Paradise Island and lays the SMACK down on crime and evil! The only thing she needs is an opponant worthy of her stature. A fully fleshed out character who is her opposite number and who poses a real threat to my favorite Amazon's very existance! Superman has Lex Luthor; Batman has The Joker; Sherlock Holms has Dr. Moriarty--who does Wonder Woman have? That is what she needs. That and a kick-ass script that will truly do justice to the story. I shall this night sacrifice a studio exec to Cthulhu in the hopes that it will be so.

I heard the Boston male voice choir humming "The Halls of Montezuma" in the background as I read your post. That was just...Beautifull!

Hi kids, Uncle Idiot here. Let's go over all the neat stuff we learned today's Talkback: 1) Jennifer Connelley IS
Wonder Woman. 2) Superninja is hot for Captain America. 3) Sleazy G knows how to please the ladies. 4) Jon Quixote knows how to please his dom. 5) The Comedian knows how to scare the shit out of Superninja. -
Unless you're over 6 ft., with blonde hair, blue eyes and a square jaw answering to the name of Steve Rogers you can FORGET IT!!! Or, if your name is Hugh Jackman, and you've suddenly gone through a nasty divorce. Or, your name is George Clooney, and you happen to be a big actor or something...Or you've somehow become possessed by the ghost of Carey Grant. Or, you're name is Yun Fat and you've likewise been through a sudden divorce, FORGET ABOUT IT!!! Actually, I'm as big a pervert as you guys, I'm just not going to talk about it. Ah, who am I kidding? I find that latex actually makes you, um, sweat a lot, and you can't really move too much. There's also the whole think with sensitive body parts and objects that apply pressure which leads me to the conclusion that many fantasies are best left just that -- in your head. But good luck to you all!
-
good piece of dialogue? The unfortunate part of Xena is that its shown that Dear Lucy can deliver terrible dialogue...terribly. Given, the whole show is cheeze, but I believe she's talented. However, I wouldn't just throw her the Wonder Woman part unless she can create someone that doesn't invoke the infamous Warrior Princess. The script is the thing, as someone mentioned. I agree that it should be epic, but at the same time, as a few people have said, she doesn't have a real stable of villains. What I forsee as a problem in that area is that the Joker might've seemed ridiculous in a Batman movie if no one had ever heard of him before. What I mean is he's an established part of Batman's history which makes him more acceptable to the audience. With that in mind, I think Hollywood will go for something very modern and realistic. Perhaps a Luthor rip-off? I just don't want her to get one of the boring modern James Bond villain types. I would love it if they did a whole riff on Greek Mythology, but that probably won't happen, given that the whole theme of her character is a journey to Man's World, and the (heh) comedic potential with the whole fish-out-of-water thing. Like a PG-13 Barbarella or something.

i gotta apologise for being so bloody boring in my last post!!! i havent this much fun in tb since.. well since the last time i read a buffy tb.. but this one is a fucking riot!! Dammit Village Idiot...Sleazy pleases his Dom, Sleazy! Not me! Sleazy is the sub, I'm just whipped (fucking Bikers really put their backs into it too!).*** And Comedian, you should be nicer to girls who read comic books. They're kind of like Tiggers, y'know. Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of the CONAN theme
by sith lord jesus
Heh heh. Much more appropriate for the Exquisite Amazon. Anyway, superninja: it's true, the script is indeed the thing, and that's what needs to be paid attention to first, even over who will play the part. WW's extremely lame rogue's gallery is a serious hurdle, however. She has no Lex Luthor, no Red Skull, no Joker. As I said before, she needs a REAL opposite number--not simply "another strong female only she's EVIL," but a true nemesis who is her match both mentally and physically. Even the Joker isn't truly a match for Batman, toe to toe wise. It's hard to imagine a scenario where he actually kills The Dark Knight, or where Luthor kills Superman. I want someone who when you first look at him/her, you think, "this person could ice Wonder Woman!" Hmmm. Maybe I will learn screenwriting after all, and tackle this project as a lark. At the very least, I could do that Lovely Angels thing that's been bouncing around in my head for so long.
-
Or at least that's how I feel when work and all that real-life shit keeps me from a good comic Talkback geek-out. You bastards, ganging up on my post while I was away! You know if I'd been around all day I'd have beaten your arguments into submission with cold, implaccable logic. It's true. Quixote's still reelin' from the drubbing I gave him over "Superman: The Movie". However, in lieu of the lengthy manifesto I was planning on posting that would refute all you naysayers (and expose my own forbidden fetish for the women of Elfquest), I'll have to issue some short takes on what's gone before. Here we go... ***** Superninja, the only reason you found George Perez's run on "Wonder Woman" boring is that you're a hard-core adrenaline junkie. We all know you never buy a comic that doesn't have the word "versus" somewhere on the cover, and you've often opined that your favorite storyline is "Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars." And "Secret Wars II". Shameful, yes, but that's the only reason I can imagine you not liking Perez's run. He gave Diana depth, a fantastic background, a great supporting cast, and some of the sharpest plots I've ever seen in superhero comics. It really doesn't matter to me that she doesn't have the best "rogues gallery", as though every superhero needs to have a similar cast of recurring schmucks to beat on. Perez wrote a meaningful story around third-tier villain, the Silver Swan, fer Chrissakes! Another one of my favorite stories was a straight-up murder mystery when Diana's publicist was killed - no bogeyman necessary. And the Cheetah...man, she was always great, and more brutally realized than any previous interpretation. I remember an issue where she fought Wonder Woman after Wonder Woman had been tortured half to death by this Middle Eastern sect of Amazon assassins and poisoned by the Cheetah's servant. It was a no-holds-barred showdown as Diana went toe-to-toe with the totally feral Cheetah in a match that would've shamed Wolverine and Sabretooth. Diana won by getting as bestial as Cheetah, ultimately wrenching off Cheetah's tail and just beating the living shit out of her. There's your Lex Luthor or Red Skull, Sith Lord Jesus. The Cheetah's not another world-conquerer like they are (that's good), but she definitely came the closest to killing Wonder Woman of all the foes I can remember. Yeah, after Ares, I'd say the Cheetah's easily Wonder Woman's most prominent villain. Either of the pair would work fine in a well-written movie. And, of course, you've got the entire pantheon of Greek gods, with all the heroes, villains, and monsters to play with. Who needs a rogues gallery when you can build kick-ass "Jason and the Argonauts"-style adventures around monsters like the Minotaur or the Cyclops or the Medusa? Anyone remember the issue where Zeus tried to seduce Diana, and then tried to force himself on her when she resisted? You don't necessarily need a version of the Joker when the king of the gods can be your villain, dig? I say Perez's genius was that he *didn't* try to interpret Wonder Woman like a traditional superhero. ***** Regarding Jennifer Connelley - like Superninja said, too squishy. Not by my own asthetics, but for Wonder Woman, yes. Perez made her curvy, but athletic too. Connelly would be closer to the interpretation Adam Hughes has been doing on recent covers - beautiful, but I maintain, *too* voluptuous. And I've while I believe Connelly could pull off the naive part, I don't see her as carrying "regal" in any way, or "warrior" for that matter. Sleazy_G, it's just barely possible Connelly can act tough, but can you provide a single other example besides her appearance on a forgotten TV show? 'Cause I, for one, have never looked at her and thought "Wonder Woman candidate". And if you've read the Perez issue, you shouldn't either. **** Regarding Lucy Lawless as Wonder Woman - Everyone against the idea is right. She'd ruin the suspension of disbelief because she's too obvious. Dress her in any costume you want and folks will still see her as Xena before Wonder Woman. Also, she's actually a little on the unattractive side for my tastes. I mean, she's no bearded lady or nothin', but I'd actually prefer a purtier Wonder Woman. Lucy Lawless is kinda...masculine. ***** Regarding Julianna Margulies - Man, so much backlash goin' on there that I think you lot are scared of an assertive woman. Truth is, though, I've never watched her in anything besides the occasional "E.R." while channel surfing, so I'm not beholden to the idea. But she does match the visual I like for the character, and I hear she won a couple Emmy's and SAG awards. Sleazy_G, you said she seemed too worldly to pull off Diana's naivete, but that's where the acting comes in, man! I say she could pull off naive a lot faster than Connelly could pull off "noble". As for Quixote's attacks on Margulies' looks, well, he's just full'a shit as usual. See this picture, Quixote? http://www.celebritywonder.com/cgi-bin/display.cgi?/members/margul~1/julian~7.jpg= That's Margulies looking both hot AND tough enough to hand you your ass. But what the hell, she's 35 and too old for the part anyway. Moving on... ***** Regarding Catherine Zeta-Jones...holy god, is she really in her 40's Sleazy_G, or are you just talkin' smack because Michael Douglas threw you into a bunch of trashcans that time you were eyein' her? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt this time and we'll eliminate Jones from the casting call because she's an old biddy. That leaves us with...an unknown! Ah, the land of anonymity, home of such breakout actors as Chris Reeve and Hugh Jackman. Until we cook up some more options, I'm afraid I'll have to vote for that boring route and pray, pray, pray that the casting director is directly inspired by Perez's vision. ***** Regarding Wonder Woman's supporting cast - Superninja's right again about how boring they are these days. It's shocking that she could be right after so callously dismissing the whole Perez run, but there you are. I was happy with the supporting cast of Steve Trevor, Lt. Candy, Myndi Meyer, the Kapatelis family, and the odd appearance by that nutjob, Hermes. Of course, that was circa the "boring" Perez run, but there you are. Anyway, the character has a *potentially* great supporting cast, you just have to go back to the late 80's to find them. ***** Regarding everyone's twisted sexual fantasies - Jesus! ***** Regarding my own plans for the lovely ladies of Elfquest...oh crikey, this post is long enough as is and I'm damn tired, so just make up something nasty. I have faith in you guys. And do me a favor by imagining equally long-winded posts from me in the Daredevil and Iron Man Talkbacks that I don't have enough time for. Maybe even picture a Cormorant Classic or two. Ah, thaaaaat's better!
-
She's been getting tougher. Has to lose the valley talk though. Now that my credibility is shot, how about Julia Ormond? Check out Smilia's Sense of Snow. She definately can do tough, I just don't know if she can get the physical part down though.

Ahem. I remember getting drubbed in the Superman talkback...I remember it so well that it's blocked out every memory I have about the time I challenged you on the 'Cameron Spidey Scriptment' and you made up some excuse about losing the email and being unable to respond. Heh heh. *** You really find that picture especially attractive? I mean, to each their own, but for me....well, let's just say that, although I've done it in the past, I don't like to resort to poking fun at people because of their looks. But she doesn't do it for me, and her expression always has that 'umbilical cord was wrapped around the throat' look.*** And Secret Wars was Awesome! Spidey kicking the ass of the X-Men, the black costume appears, Hawkeye putting holes in the Wrecking Crew, Magneto and Wasp swapping spit, Captain America staring down an omnipotent Dr. Doom, Reed Richards souping up Iron Man's Armor, and the Hulk carrying a mountain on his back. How could anyone who considers themselves a comic fan not only dislike or disrespect that series, but keep themselves from being completely awed by it!!*** The less said about Secret Wars II, the better. I think Superninja just likes the idea of God in Captain American's body...with a JerryCurl!
-
Just a few issues. And I did not like what I read. Same with the Perez WW run, so maybe, again, I'm being unfair.****COMEDIAN, you lame @$$, I just started getting into DC only recently, so all your half-a$$ed references will have to wait until I @$%^ing catch up! So there!!!****I like Cormorant's elipses just fine, Jon. Quite...fond...of...them...myself....****Angie Harmon might be okay if she could get a little meat on her bones.

Homemade Super Soldier Serum. Yeah, I tried that, but it didn't come out right...none of the muscles, all of the testicular shrinkage (at least that's my story, and I'm sticking to it). Next time, I'm using less turpentine.*** I didn't mean to poke fun at Cormorant's ellipses. I think he uses them properly and sparingly. Me, on the other hand....*** You'll stay away from my bikers Superninja...if you know what's good for ya!*** I don't understand how people cannot like Secret Wars. Sure, it's a cheesy concept, and sure, it started this whole crossover-multimultipart epic crap that destroyed comics..but I loved it. It's some of the best characterization of heroes like Spider-Man and Captain America and The Thing that I've ever seen, not to mention shining an interesting spotlight on lesser characters like The Wasp, promoting the good/bad Magneto that has become so popular these days, and giving us team-ups that we had not really seen before...just too too cool!
-
Just wondering why I keep hearing this type of comment? Michelle is and always will be a goddess. 43 when you're a movie star and you take care of yourself and you have a personal trainer, your own chef, and all beauty expenses are tax deductible is more like 33 in real people years. Maybe you missed What Lies Beneath but she hasn't even remotely begun to lose "it" and if you caught photos of la Pfeiff at the premiere of WLB in a sheer hot pink blouse and tight pants she could definitely still rock in the cat suit.
That said -she has no interest in the project without Tim Burton.

The Exquisite Lucy Lawless? "Unattractive?!" HEATHAN PEEEEEEEEEE
by sith lord jesus
Approach, Cormorant, that I may smite thee with the rod of correction. Actually, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so I'll let that pass. Just let it be known that *I* find Lucy Lawless to be most hottie-licious. As for her being typecast as Xena, I wouldn't let that stop me. She's an actor: it's her job to inhabit the part of someone else up on the big screen, and convince the audience that she *is* that someone else. I think Lucy-chan can do it. As for Jennifer Connely, as someone else mentioned a few weeks in the gym can solve the muscle-tone problem. They don't need to turn her into Arnold, just give her some decent definition (another reason why I like LL, by the way: she has muscles but she's not Chyna, if you know what I mean). Did you ever see Ms Connelly in REQUIEM FOR A DREAM? Believe me, she CAN act. Now, Cormorant, you ARE correct about Cheetah, I forgot all about her; she would make a good opponant. It is the writing that matters most after all, as such even a minor character can be added depth and gravitas. Having WW face off with the Greek Gods ala Perez rather then phutz around in "Man's world" would be a better dramatic storyline, but I bet Hollywood would prefer to do the "fish out of water" thing instead. Nothing wrong with that, if done well, it's just that it's so. . .predictable.
-
Fish out of water movies ONLY work in trilogies. I've been saying this for years...thank GOD Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles is finally hitting theatres soon. I've just felt SO incomplete, wondering what happened to our intrepid outbacker since the last one. Same with Rush Hour, which is well on it's way to rounding out it's important plot points with the sequel, and hopefully a third chapter. I'm still itching for some more Coming To America movies too!*** Seriously, if there ever was a comics-to-movies concept that deserved to be NOT taken seriously, it's Wonder Woman. It should be the Charlie's Angels of comic book movies...a serious Clash Of The Titans meets Susan B. Anthony approach isn't going to win many fans...not unless you're the type of person who should be shaving your armpits, but doesn't. Too many Deities, social relevance, and heavy handedness is just going to blow! Here's your movie...the God of War escapes Olympus and is going to start, well, a war. A bad one. So they send WW, down to Earth to stop them. But even though she could give Steve Trevor a Prince Albert with a Javelin from 100yards out, she struggles to adapt her Amazonian (read, naive and non-male-friendly) attitude to the world of MANKIND. We're talking bondage jokes, an invisible plane that gets run over by a taxiing 747, and a lie-detecting lasso that works too well (WW: Now that you're ensnared in my magic lasso, you must tell the truth. Thug: You have AMAZING Tits!).
-
I'm suprised none of you fanboys have thought of this. Jeri Ryan, with black hair. She'd be an awesome Wonder Woman! As for Catwoman, I'd say Zeta-Jones would be better suited for that part, rather than playing WW. For a good Catwoman foe, how about Michelle Yeoh as Lady Shiva?
-
All you Ashley Judd naysayers, here's the drill. What do you need to play Catwoman, and does Judd have it? Sexy. The girl's gotta be hot! Well, if you don't find Ashley Judd attractive, you have to be able to see that the majority of the male population would. She's a good looking girl, even if she's not your personal cup-o-tea. Acting. I mean, don't get me wrong, Catwoman's not exactly Hamlet, but we don't want somebody who is JUST Eye candy. It would be nice if the actress can deliver the lines in such a manner that she doesn't sound like the director is whispering them in her ear. She may not be Judi Dench, but Judd can act. Dangerous. Ah, this is tricky...can Judd be deadly sexy the way a Catwoman should be. Personally, I think so. I've not seen Eye of the Beholder, mostly 'cause everyone says it's shit, but I heard she aquitted herself quite nicely. As she did in Double Jeopardy, an abortion of a movie that Judd actually made barely watchable.*** So, though a somewhat unlikely choice, Judd'll probably do fine, look good in leather, and this film'll make some bucks. I wouldn't hold your breath expecting a Bats cameo though...I have a feeling this movie will do whatever it can to distance itself from Pfeiffer's role and the whole Batman mythos...which is the way it should be!
-
As I read these posts, I don't know whether to be jealous I wasn't a bigger part of this go round, or thank the heavens that I was spared.
-
Wonder Woman is eminantly suited to a serious screen treatment; Catwoman, on the other hand, is not. Don't get me wrong, I like her, but she's a fairly minor character. As I asked before, what would a friggin' Catwoman movie be ABOUT? No one seems to have an answer. In the meantime, I like Sleazy_G's trilogy idea, it's one of the better WW movie concepts I've heard. Y'know, I think maybe I *will* learn screenwriting. I'd be fun to crank out scripts like this even if they never do see the light of the silver screen.
-
I don't think minor characters in comic books are necessarily less suited to big screen adaptations...in some cases, they are more! Look at Blade, a marginal character at best, but an interesting cinematic concept, and one that translated very well. Conversely, The Flash is a 'major' character that probably wouldn't work very well on the big screen.*** I can see a Catwoman movie working very well...I think you just need to exorcise the Batman Returns version from your head. Really it's a movie about a female thief with a conscience...and a whip. An S&M Entrapment/Mission ImpossibleII, with an itty bit of Indiana Jones thrown in for good measure. The movie will probably play out something like this: a sexy cat burglar gets imbroiled in a conspiracy that has deep ramifications and finds herself working on the side of good. Maybe not the most original of concepts, but certainly a cinematic one! And definitely more traditionally cinematic than Busty clay Amazon with magic lasso flies to earth in invisible plane to fight supervillains. Which isn't to say that couldn't work either...I guess it's really dependant on the director. Is Russ Meyer still alive?
-
Russ Meyer: He auditioned'em by the handfull!
-
let me just say...these are the funniest postings I've read in a loooong time. A few comic book friends of mine said that Selina was origionally Latin? (anyone wanna confirm?) If so, how about Michelle Rodriguez from Girl Fight?? (but i'm not too sure about her in the catsuit) Don't kill me!! Just a thought... NOW for Wonder Woman...word on the street is that Sandra Bullock is kinda attached to the project (jesus in heaven no). Whoever said Julia Ormond...humm something to think about-she can actually act, but then again, who wants to see Shakespearean Wonder Woman?? That's why I say we go with Xena. Jen-ay C. - cool looking for it, but not kick ass enough.
P.S.- I thought Michelle P. was fuckin-a as Selina
