HoneyBear continues to illuminate the MATRIX 2 set with Pics from the Sky!
Man oh man... Harry here, when it rains it pours and folks the sky has parted this week on MATRIX 2. I'm so happy to be bringing you some wonderful stories this "April Fool's Day" when other folks seem so intent on trying to... ahem... be funny. Ah, there's more than enough real stories to bring up without reverting to childish pranks... And folks... damn... DAMN... I want one of them silver coats... and that old-man Elvis Mitchell hair that these Virii guys are sporting... Mighty cool. Now, I turn you over to HoneyBear, who climbed a tree and brought us our honey!

Hi Harry,
I'm just a fan of your site who happened to be at the right place at the
right time and wish to be referred to as "Honeybear". I am posting pics that
complement "Burlyman's" photos.
I did see the car run up onto the curb (as mentioned earlier by Burlyman)
and narrowly averted what could have been a disaster because two extras
sitting at the bus stop were mere inches from the car's fender. But I was
relieved to see no one got hurt.
I am including pictures of actual takes and have a picture of the Caddie in
the middle the turning maneuver; I to was impressed with the driving ability
of these stunt doubles...Anyways, Enjoy!
HoneyBear

Above, look at those bad-ass silver coats!!! DAMN THAT'S FINE LOOKING!!!

Above is a scene with a stripped down version of the car, so they can get interiors as well more controlled intimate shots while moving quickly.

Above is another photo of the Cadillac being used by Trinity and Morpheus...

The above is an image of the BackDrop... which I can't really make out all that well...

Do the cars fly and stuff??? Oh I can't wait

Great pictures !
A few more and we can make a comics book version of Matrix 2 -
...whatever that means. (mp3.com/luzer)

30 minutes devoted to it. Dig this: the camera doing it bullet time effect around the car, over the car, inside the cars glove compartment, delving deep down into the radiator... its going to be beautiful... the car stopping at lights, making left hand turns, yeilding for traffic, using its power windows...
and yes, Trinity WILL adjust the rear view mirror!!! -
Or does anyone else think these silver virus guys are an iffy plot move? To me, it just doesn't make sense why a computer virus would be manifested in the form of a silver plated John Travolta from Battlefield earth. Or in a human form at all, for that matter.
-
Yes, they're cool-looking. We all see that. Thank you. Did anyone else notice what looked like bullet-holes on the top of the Cadillac?
-
hehe...personifications of a virus...oh man this is too lame.
-
mmmmm....pretty piccies.... more more more MORE MOOORREEE!!!!!

There is no spoon - and JarJar Binks is dissing you...
by dillrod deluxe
I am working the dillrod overtime just dreaming of Trinity, and her leathery heiney. George Lucas is a hack. Anyone who enjoyed Episode One is a turd. Whenever you see JarJar Binks on the movie screen, or in toy stores - that's really George Lucas laughing in your face, while he force feeds you a brown sandwich. He is laughing at all of us, all the way to the bank. The original Star Wars is beyond reproach - everything after is a travesty. And Episode Two is going to be another brown steamy pile of crapulence...it really harshes my serenity dillrod to see all of the Star Wars and Star Trek fans buying into the ongoing desecration of what began as masterpieces. Sheep...

Nice color silver on those cars. Kind of matches the color of THE IRON GIANT. Seems to me that if you knock out the roof and clear out the seats those cars would make a nice pair of roller blades for Him. All the cars need is a Nike swoosh.

yeah that's right hahaha...dam! i used to think only f*cking middle age accountants & lawyers [the most boring people on earth] drive cadillac's! Caddy's were as exciting as VOLVO'S! but after seeing the coolest people in film like trinity & morpheous driving cadillac's i'm beginning to like them too!

I'm not here to get into a Matrix/Star Wars debate, even though I felt TPM was superior. My reasons for disliking the Matrix are not superficial. I felt the directors had in their grasp a brilliant idea, reduced to pretentous drivel by an unintelligent script. The idea of uploading information into one's mind is fantastic. Unfortunately, I couldn't enjoy it, because it seemed every five minutes Morpheus had to reinterate that Neo was "the One". I swear he said this over and over, possibly to create tension, or ispiration. However, it sent those gay chills up my back, and made me wonder if the W. Bros were begging for Oscar attention. I enjoyed the Matrix on a action level. If they hadn't taken themselves so seriouslly, and maybe reduced it to a really good sci-fi kung-fu film, it would of been great. But this need to reveal things, and insert uplifting plot points, hopging to make this film more than it is really disturbed me. Anyway, since I'm on a rant, I have to say that I despise any director who deliberatly hires Reeves once, let alone three times in a row. The idea of him becoming any kind of a Christ figure is very, very, very disturbing to me. And did anyone notice near the end, during the big fight with Agent Smith, Reeves gets up, dusts himself off, and does this awful flex with his arms. I laughed so hard when I first saw this I almost pissed my pants. Then I realized I was the only one in a packed theatre who laughed. THEY ACTUALLY THOUGHT THIS WAS SERIOUS!! Once again, I'm a Hunter S. Thompson in a sea of Dan Rathers. Fuck it.

....Or rather a few simple points to make as I see them. Firstly: Matrix scoops are and have been great -- I personally believe there is no harm in seeing the Pix (you'll see more in the trailer when it materialises). Personally, I'm staying away from too much plot speculation, and that's what it is -- speculation. What sounds and/or looks cheesy to some of you now will in all probability be either put forward in a different way or added to in the post production/editing process. And there's a whole other side of this production we most likely won't see -- all the interior stuff that'll take place on the studio sound stages, the real plot-heavy stuff, will remain secret. And the pix we're getting are no doubt heeping the directors happy that the hype machine is still working and the fans really care about these films. These guys have proven they know what they're doing. Finally, I have this to say on Star Wars -- I totally saw the man's vision in TPM. The first three films I saw when I was a kid...and I was a kid, someone who hadn't studied media or film, and I enjoyed them AS A KID. Looking at the original 3 now, and applying an analytical mind, yes they are flawed, yes they could be better. They are not paragons of cinematic perfection in terms of structure or dialogue, and neither will Episode 2 or Episode 3 be. I urge all true Star Wars fans to do what I did with TPM: disengage your media-literate brains, forget the cynicism of your adult life, and just be 7 years old again -- that's who these films are for. It's obvious that I have a more respectful attitude towards film than a lot of you out there. Scorning flims before they're finished and you've seen them is not a productive hobby.
And as a response to the backbiting I'll no doubt get as a result of this post: You are not a unique snowflake. You are not your fuckin' modem. You are not your film-literacy and your oh-so-clever-and-mocking insults. You are the all-singing, all-dancing, crap of the world....and to Harry, I say: keep up the good work.

...if you look at the greater picture of all fantasy/sci-fi stories unfurling from humanities collective conscious. It is possible to see core abstracts glowing through the major work. Both StarWars and the Matrix revolve around the idea of looking into yourself to find the diamond within; which can give you everything you need succeed your potential. Both external and internal battles take place on the path to enlightenment. This paralells with the world religions and mythologies and any intamate relationships with people(s) you conduct within your own life. Stop thinking where you wish.... remember that all of infinity is held within a grain of sand. No matter how disapointing aspects of TPM were to me, I still look forward positively to Ep.2. Maybe even more than Matrix 2!! Even though I enjoyed the Matrix more than any other sci-fi since Terminator. I saw the Matrix as a direct step up in terms of the collective fears of society. Ghost in the Shell shows how advanced the japenese culture is...especially when you consider Akira was released in 1985!!!!...so Otomo must have concieved his vision...way back.......reeeet a'm off for another pipe (cobra Pollum - totaly wicked!!!)...chill freeks

These movies are fun, and little else. People who see them for intellectual content are in desperately bad shape. People who see them in a generally serious tone are even worse off. The first time I saw that scene in the subway, I started laughing like a cracked-up jackol, and some of the people around me caught on when he did the little "wave-your-hand-like-a-pansy" while "sort-of-trying-to-grimace-as-if-you're-shitting-cobras" thing. --- The best part was when I saw it on video for the first time, and a bunch of the guys I was with cheered when Smith blew a whole in his scrawny little chest. They became fast friends.

As an American who moved to Europe two years ago, I can honestly say that, with the possible exception of a couple of recent Chrysler models, American cars are utterly awful-looking, especially that Cadillac. If they're going to feature an American car, why not do it like they did in the first movie and use an old Lincoln Continental with suicide doors or a Chrysler Imperial or something of that ilk? But what am I saying... the Matrix sequels have become too big for their britches. It's all about product placement. Hmm... Kind of like the large Swiss Army/Victorinox logos that kept appearing in Armageddon. Grrr. At least Lucas would be pretty hard pressed to work in a Coke or Doritos product placement in any of the forthcoming Star Wars flicks, let alone a shitty American car.

That "article" on theforce.net has to be one of the funniest April Fool's jokes I've seen in ages! It felt as if a million fanboys cried out at once and then were silenced!

Why are there nuns with guns?
I don't understand how gun toting female clergy fit into the Matrix fiction, but I'm sure the brothers W must have a compelling reason. -

Anyone who thinks TPM is better than The Matrix is on drugs!
by batutta
The Matrix wipes its ass with The Phantom Menace...Do I look into The Matrix for deep philosophical content, no, but as a story it's much more coherent, thrilling, and moving than Episode 1. And I don't agree that you have to see Episode 1 in the same frame of mind as you did when you were a kid. I can look at the first three now and see that they're far superior to TPM. They're not absolutely perfect, but on the issues that matter (story, character, emotion) they deliver one hundred percent. TPM doesn't give you any characters to give two shits about, and the story is unfocused babble about trade disputes. And who the hell thinks the Wachowski's were taking things too seriously. If your idea of subtle humor is Dumb & Dumber I guess The Matrix would be Schindler's List, but I thought that movie had a very dry, ironic wit about itself that kept its messianic pretentions in check. I laughed too when Keanu flexed, but it was a good laugh, because I saw the filmmakers winking to me off camera.

And now I hear Buster Rhyme's in it? I'm all for adding color to the Matrix being a black man myself, but how's about more actors and less rappers. And please tell me it's a rumor that Jada Smith's in it playing Fishburne's love interest. You mean nobody considered Angela Basset? It's bad enough she didn't play Storm. What's next Macy Gray's in Spiderman?

I can't wait for the next Matrix film. However, I'm into film and film studies/work so much that when I see on-location pics it ruins the movie viewing experience at first. Now, when I flippin see the movie for the first couple of times when it gets to that scene I'm not gonna think they are in the Matrix my logical head will think "IT'S OAKLAND/SF!!!". My suspension of disbelief only goes so far that plot spoilers are ok but I like to see behind the scenes stuff after I have seen the film. I'm sure geeks of filmmaking in general would agree. I'm a hypocrite looking at them anyway becuase it was like waving a million dollars in front of my face. :) However, I could care less about Virii or car chases... I wanna see what Yuen Woo-Ping is doing with the fights?!?!?! After CTHD I'm more excited about that and rumor has it the kung fu battles will also be in the sky a la Superman 2!! Whoaa :O
-
I heard that same thing too... first they wire-fu people up to rooftops, then they wire-fu people walking up 90 degree walls, now they wire-fu them over bamboo forrests... christ how much wire and people will they need to make Keanu fly around skyscrapers?? lol

How ironic that only now, after five years, as I for the first time register to Talkback, a blurb on the screen warns me to refrain from personal attacks or I may be banned. It's ironic because I'm posting for the first time in five years, since the site first went up and I first started coming here, in response to Harry's latest personal attack on another movie website. Because of such antics, AICN has finally become intolerable, and I am not coming back anymore.
Before the rest of you Talk Backers either a) dismiss me as some loser, and then proceed to argue about whether the Matrix was better than TPM, or b) agree with me and rant for a while till you feel better, and then come back to the site tomorrow, please hear me out. And Harry, I want you, especially, to read this, and respond if you care.
I have honestly been around since the beginning. And for four years, I loved this site. I loved its casual, regular-joe appeal. I loved Harry's reviews, even though they sometimes misled me (Way of the Gun..) and often I had to skip past the descriptions of waiting in line. And most of all, I loved the characters that inhabit AICN - Harry, Moriarty, Quint, etc. It made the site accessible.
But for the last two years or so, the site has been in a steady decline due to Harry's continual lack of professionalism. I can overlook the countless spelling and grammatical errors. I can overlook his rabid fanboy-ishness (and indeed, have at times shared in those sentiments as I read something cool). And I can even ignore all the useless editorials, opinions, and other off-topic posts that get put up on AICN's front page. But I can't overlook Harry's huge ego anymore. It has gotten so large as to make it impossible for a person with intergrity to ignore it.
Harry, your fifteen minutes in the spotlight have gone to your head. Guess what? Your site is no longer King of the Hill when it comes to movie news. Dark Horizons has steadily built up its own following and consistently remains on-topic. And what appears to be your main rival, Corona, has maintained its high quality of professionalism and integrity since its inception - notably, around the same time as AICN's.
So is this why you, today, feel the need to knock Corona for making April Fool's jokes? That you feel the need to call them "childish?" Out of an inferiority complex? Insecurity that your site is no longer the big kahuna? Or a long-held jealousy?
First of all, Corona does this EVERY YEAR. It is a tradition for them. Calling them "childish" for it would be the same as Corona calling you "childish" for describing waiting in line in your movie reviews. Or what time you woke up that day when you saw such-and-such movie. The April Fool's jokes are as much a tradition for Corona as are your mourning, weepy posts whenever an aging actor passes away. IT IS NOT FAIR FOR YOU TO KNOCK THEM FOR A TRADITION.
Second, who the hell are you to call them "childish" for making April Fool's jokes? YOU?!?!??! The man who screams "ME WANT PWESENTS!!!!" every time an opportunity for presents rolls around? The man who can remember nothing about Charlie's Angels, the movie, except for Cameron Diaz's "swirly" ass? The man who types the word "drool" in most of his posts?
I'm sorry, Harry, but this is the last straw. You have broken the camel's back. As a (former) faithful reader, I have put up with all of your antics and more. But I just can't sit back and let you knock what is the best site for movie news out there today. I can't let you sit there like a little boy and hide behind your celebrity and your ego and make fun of them for a tradition that is honestly more respectable than any of yours which you tout on this site. You have finally revealed your complete lack of integrity and professionalism, and I am never coming back to this site.
Please know that this is not an easy decision, but you have forced my hand. I know that I'm not very important to you, and I don't care. I want you to know that a reader who has been with your site since the very beginning has finally been turned away by your own hubris. And even if you or one of your assistants deletes this from Talk Back, I am emailing you a copy so you know how I feel. How a long-time reader, a reader since the beginning, has thrown in the towel in disgust and called it quits. -
I can see 'GoodbyeAICN' points and it's vaild/true. I love both AICN and Corona alot, they are both awesome sites. Yet I've always noticed subtle bitterness over the years between the two which "IS" what is childish. I don't think either realize that alot read both... Harry has his style which is the guy next door, average joe logic and natural every day jargon grammar for the film geeks which feels more realistic. Corona is like a nice tiddy upcoming film database with a small professional demeanor to how it handles it's scoops. BOTH ARE AWESOME SITES... SUPPORT EACH OTHER! STOP THE BITTERNEES, FREE MANDELLA!!!
-
Please ignore my earlier post. I have asked that it be removed, and I hope it will be. Like an idiot, I jumped to conclusions (on today, of all days...) and I was wrong.
-
I suspect those Wachowski boys got lucky on 'The Matrix'. I think they're capable of some truly dreadful things, and 'The Matrix 2' could easily be one of them.
-
Well, they might as well be. I liked Matrix and TPM, so sue me. They were both cool, if flawed, movies. But they were also different styles of moviemaking. If you prefer one to the other, fine. But don't belittle other fans just because you think your trilogy's better than their one. Let's hope both movies kick ass in 2002.
-
Anyone who sees this as a "debate" between why the Matrix is better or worse than any of the Star Wars movies is a fucking loser. If you all loved movies as much as you say you do, you'd understand that THESE ARE TWO SEPERATE MOVIES!!!! They take a total of 5 fucking hours of your life, approximately (cause i didn't go back and count the minutes cause frankly, it ain't that important), and one can completely enjoy one, and AT THE SAME TIME, completely enjoy the other one. What a fucking concept. I don't get why people must turn this into a George-Lucas-is-a-slut-that-sucks-the-W.Bros-off kind of debate. I don't even see the connection other than special effects and a "chosen one" plot. They are different stories told in different ways by different people to say different things. The summer is big enough for the both of them. Its not like you have to choose which movie you're gonna devote brainspace to. There is enough room in your head to enjoy both of them....well, for most of us, at least. This being a talk back, all I have to say is that Matrix 2 is gonna be the coolest Caddy commercial you've ever seen.
