The good, the bad, and the downright retarded...

    by crimsonrage

...OK, a lot of cool toy properties, but not enough cool toys. I know, I know, the McFarlane toys kicked ass as usual, but some of those toys sucked. Take for example Indiana Jones, if ever there was a character that deserved a bad-ass toy, it's him. But that toy sucked! As did the "Mad Max", and "Tomb Raider" ones. The "Reservoir Dogs" ones were OK, but I really wished McFarlane did them...oh well. Lots of interesting stuff though. I'll be back with my dream picks tomorrow.

You know I am gonna get the Cheech and Chong and also Rambo(Rambo meaning the original First Blood). Mark my words Rambo will do for grownup headbangers what Taxi Driver did for actors/actresses "SuperFans". Oh wait it already has.

You missed the new McFarland Anime figures..

    by the longshot

Before the Shrek figures, there is a second series on Anime figures. None of them are quite as cool as the Vash figure, tho. New is Naomi Armatage from Armatage III. Akira, the leader of the Clown gang and a deluxe set with Kaneda with his bike, all from Akira. Major Kusanagi from GitS (I've seen better figures). Tenchi from Tenchi Muyo. And Soul Taker, from a show I haven't seen yet.

    Dream picks...

    by crimsonrage

...A "Road Warrior" line done correctly! An Indiana Jones figure with pistol, whip and a German truck playset with lots o' filthy Germans. "Wild Bunch" playset with Pike and the gang, a mounted machine gun, and tons o' Mexican troops and whores. A Johnny Cash figure with guitar, bad-ass black trenchcoat, and voice-chip. A Travis Bickle with mohawk, 44 magnum and hotel manager with blow-apart hand! "Conan the Barbarian" figures with a removable head Thulsa Doom. A Jake LaMotta figure with Black and White variant. "Apocalypse Now" playsets! One playset being the infamous helicopter attack with Willard, Kilgore, Viet Cong and Wagner music sound-chip...oh and a voice-chip with Kilgore's "Napalm" speech. The second playset being Kurtz' compound with slaughtered cow and decapitated heads. Another voice-chip with Kurtz' "moral terror" speech, and the Door's "The End". Oh and the third "AP" playset being Navy patrol boat with young Lawrence Fishburne and the rest of the gang. "Platoon" figures would be cool too.

Looks like I'm going shopping, then....

    by robinp

Well, I figure I need the Arnie "Terminator" figure, I like the T-1000 as well, nicely sculpted. Candyman would look good beside the other slashers in the series I have. Ash ? I'll have to buy "normal" Ash if I buy this one. I want to see Uber-Jason. Ah, the hell with it, I'll buy it anyway, sight unseen. The disappointing thing here for me is that "Jaws" set. The shark looks as fake as it does in the movie....or is that just another example of fine craftsmanship and attention to detail that we've come to expect from this line ?
All in all, count me in.....this is a better lineup than series 3. (Those "Thing" figures were just too obscure looking, and Shaft ? What in the blue hell was HE doing there ?).

    Where's Hannibal?

    by daigoro

Mcfarlane's Movie Maniacs are a little underwhelming this year. The only series that looks promising is the Cenobite series.
"The Fix" figure is truly sick but well made.
What about Hannibal? With the new movie just out it would have been the most appropriate time. Could have produced a Mason Verger figure as well. C'mon Todd get the rights to everyone's favorite cannibal. We want figures!

    OH... MY... GOD...

    by psyclops

Todd McFarlane is... is.. a GOD! What he has created here, not just the Movie Maniacs (and those fucking rock!), but those H.R. Giger and Tortured Souls... they look amazing! Those 'Cenobites' are incredible, and there I was bitching about why there wasn't any Pinhead figure. You know what... FUCK HIM! Those 'Souls' are the most beautiful and disturbing things I have ever seen, the detail... sweet christ, the detail!!! Damn you, McFarlane for making me spend more money this year (and I had a budget and everything)!! I mean, did you see that 'Candyman'?!? Or the Terminators?!? I WANT THEM NOW!!!! Please Todd, please make an action figure from the movie ALIEN! I know Hasbro has the rights, but you could truly do it justice! Shit, throw in a Predator and I can die happy.
