Robert Zemeckis Has Found His Grand High Witch for "THE WITCHES"

Hola Dannie aqui,

Deadline broke the news today that actress Anne Hathaway will star in Robert Zemeckis' "THE WITCHES." Anne Hathaway many may know from her work on "Les Misérables" (won an Oscar for), "The Dark Knight Rises," "Ocean's Eight," "Alice In Wonderland," "The Devil Wears Prada," and "The Princess Diaries." Hathaway is being challenged with the role of the Grand High Witch, that's right the part of Miss Ernst.  Back in 1990 the role was given to Anjelica Huston, and she owned that role, at nine years old I found her terrifying in the film, so there are some substantial charismatic shoes for Hathaway to fill. Also, word has it that actress Viola Davis will be joining the project however that has yet to be confirmed.

Just for fun, I include the trailer for the Nicolas Roeg's 1990 "THE WITCHES" film enjoy and read on for more.

"The Witches" is about a seven-year-old boy who discovers a convention of witches while on vacation at a swanky hotel. The adventures and tribulations that follow horrified me as a child and I am eager to see what Zemeckis does with the project. Zemeckis is producing the film alongside Alfonso Cuaron, Guillermo del Toro, and longtime collaborator Jack Rapke. With producers like that and Zemeckis at the helm, I think this ship is set for smooth sailing. What do all of you feel about the news? I am praying it is good, and hopefully, Hathaway can channel the coldest resting bitch face and stand her ground with Anjelica's unforgettable frigidness of Miss Ernst.
