OCEAN'S 11 Open Casting Call in Florida! Get up close to Brad Pitt, George Clooney and other coolness!

Father Geek here with some ultimate coolness for some of our readers in Florida if they hop right to it. This can be a lot of fun folks... opportunity is knocking on your door... Maybe you should answer its call...

Hey Guys. Don't know if you've heard about this casting call, but it sounds pretty cool to me.

"An open casting call for extras to appear in Warner Bros.' heist-comedy Ocean's Eleven will be held Saturday at ParkSide Mall in Pinellas Park. Casting director Rich King will be shopping for actors outside the entrance to Dillard's department store from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Chosen extras could be sharing a camera with George Clooney, Brad Pitt or Alan Arkin. Those actors are currently scheduled to join director Steven Soderbergh(Traffic) at Derby Lane dog racing track for three days of filming later this month.

The day is this Saturday, February 10 from 10-4. After they pick extras, filming will be held later on this month for 2 to 3 days. Interested people were advised to bring a picture and a pen to the casting call. Hope I've been more helpful this time.

No speaking parts will be cast Saturday, just several hundred people to populate scenes set at a greyhound race and a circus. The latter setting will be accomplished with a big-top tent erected in the race track's parking lot.

Extras will be paid $75 per each 10-hour work day, with up to three days of work available. St. Petersburg/Clearwater film commissioner Jennifer Parramore said Monday that filming is expected to begin locally during the third week of February.

All ages are invited to apply, but Ocean's Eleven filmmakers are especially interested in hiring seniors.

"The screenplay specifically calls for a race track in Florida where a lot of seniors go," Parramore said.

Applicants are requested to bring a small photograph of themselves and a pen or pencil to complete registration forms. There will be no formal auditions, just a fast greeting from King and his assistants who will collect those materials for later reference. Hiring decisions should be quickly known.

Ocean's Eleven is a remake of the 1960 film starring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and the rest of the Rat Pack as Army buddies plotting to rob several Las Vegas casinos in a single night.

The film is currently slated to be released Dec. 7."

So that's it. Thought you might like to know. Go ahead and post it so my fellow Floridians can join me in attempting to handcuff themselves to Brad. Hehehe!

BTW, thanks for the awesome site....I visit everyday, and I feel very cool because then I know everything before my friends. So I taunt them with my impressive knowledge. And I am happy. And they cry. And they feel the shame of their un-geeklike ways. Muahahaha. I am an evil herbivore.

    by IrishJoe

Any got any idea how many of the original cast of Oceans 11 are still alive. Damn they were some cool motherfuckers. Sammy,Dean,Frank et al were so cool. I hope they stick to the original closely and that they have the phluorescent footprints in it. If youve seen it youll know what i mean. If you havent go back to your T2 DVD and leave me alone

    ya know what else...

I'd love to see some reference to the last shot of the original Ocean's 11, where you see a bunch of their real names on the marquee at the Sands. SSoderbergh could do it by slipping in some movie marquees or video-store posters in the background, or something. (Final shot of Cradle Will Rock is a weird cousin of that kind of scene, the way it forces contemporary reality right into the scene with the actors.) I used to complain more about remake fever but I almost always like the new movie, from Cape Fear to Pscho to the Brady Bunch -- so bring on the new E-O 11!!

    Fuckin' Florida Bums

First they get to go to DisneyWorld whenever they want, THEN they get to be the only state whose votes count in the election, and NOW they they get to appear in _Ocean's 11_ which will be so cool that the term "cool" will be woefully inadequate, and the world will have to invent a new word to describe it (my suggestion: sublnarly). I wish I lived there.

Is it just me or Benicio Del Toro looks a lot like Brad Pitt???

    by su12345

Well, except the gray hair and the eyes bags...but damn, they look so much alike.

I live 20 minutes away from Derby Lanes! But you know what?

    by Milktoast

Sweating my ass off in line with a bunch of old people at that shitty mall to MAYBE get a callback to be part of a colorful blear streak when the camera pans doesn't appeal to me. I almost went out of my way to be an extra for Any Given Sunday, but I guess I don't regret not trying. And that guy above me is right. Brad Pitt and Del Toro look just like one another except for the vanilla and fudge distiction. And except for that Del Toro's eyes are closer together.

    Ocean's 11

    by Renard

As far as I'm aware most (if not all) of the male leads of the original Ocean's 11 are gone to the great casino in the sky. This movie will be great. Mark my words

    by SAH

Hey, I'll be there (right around the corner), and not because I'm figuring my gorgeous mug will garner any screen time, but I just want the opportunity to watch Captain Soderberg work. Who wouldn't?? BTW, any of you Florida geeks (or any of you AICN buffs, for that matter) check out a new site: for some cool shit about Movies, TV, Music, etc...

you beat me to it. the only thing you left out was to tell them that the first thing they should do when they show up on set is to ask the 2nd 2nd ad how long a day he thinks it's going to be--those guys love questions like that.

    irish joe...

    by coytuck

i believe of the original cast, henry silva and joey bishop are the only survivors. they aren't household names, but silva did play some pretty cool characters in the past. screw joey bishop, he was the remora of the group.
