Michael Douglas: "The Quantum Realm plays an important part in all the next chapters, I think, of the Marvel films."

Michael Douglas and the Quantum Realm

Hey folks... Metro, a UK newspaper you find on the London Tube or on buses, pointed out some interesting things about the collected knowledge on Avengers 4 so far, after Michael Douglas was quoted in an on-air interview with Ryan Seacrest as saying that the Quantum Realm is a big part of how the MCU moves beyond the Avengers and the first ten years.

Here there be possible SPOILERS! Consider them theoretical spoilers, because so much of this could be Merry Marvel Misdirection...

There's been a whole series of rumors about how the Thanos snap in INFINITY WAR will be resolved as pictures from the set have leaked and details about casting and characters have been revealed. When "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." premiered its season finale just after INFINITY WAR, the cast was peppered with questions about why the death of half the population was not covered or briefly eluded to in the finale. It is an unusual move for the show, which has up until now greatly coexisted with the MCU's continuity-- up to and including the complete destruction of S.H.I.E.L.D. in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER. And then, a scene at the end of ANT-MAN AND THE WASP gave us the first indication that anyone in the MCU was experiencing the Thanos Snap:

When asked if the cutscene at the end of ANT-MAN AND THE WASP was directly involved in AVENGERS 4 or just an after-shock of it, Michael Douglas said:

Right. Right. That is absolutely true. ‘I mean, all of them — I mean, the Quantum Realm, that’s the key. That’s the key. The Quantum Realm plays an important part in all the next chapters, I think, of the Marvel films.

This casual comment, Janet Van Dyne's off-hand remark about Time Vortexes in the Microverse, and other information such as Paul Rudd being filmed alongside Robert Downey Jr. in a battle of New York scene would seem to confirm time travel via the quantum realm is a definite element in how the heroes defeat Thanos.

Since we know Emma Fuhrmann is playing an older version of Ant-Man's daughter, Cassie Lang in AVENGERS 4, and that the rumors are the story begins 5 years after the events of INFINITY WAR, a picture is coming together as to why the second seasons of "Luke Cage", "Iron Fist". the finale of "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and the "Daredevil" third season all avoid any reference to the Thanos snap.

The reason these series do not even refer to a world-changing event is that it's already been retconned for those characters. The 4th Avengers film will make it so the snap never happened via time travel.

Doesn't spoil the film for me to know. And I'm still curious to see if Nebula gets her hand in the glove, after all, and how Dr. Strange's future viewing revealed how it would all work out...
