"Titans" unloads 4 new character intros!

 TITANS title

Hey folks! Four new Titan videos are up on YouTube:

I think Brenton Thwaites actually looks and acts the part of Robin pretty well. I could be wrong, but it feels like Berlanti and crew are going for an 'Instagram-famous' take on superhero popularity for this show, and that could be good, actually, something I wish "Heroes" had gotten into. This is a step up from the ill-conceived "Fuck Batman" of the original trailer, and this isn't a bad take on Robin/Nightwing as a newly-emerging leader. Okay. Could be good.

I'd like to think Berlanti told the casting director, "Raven should sound like Tara Strong", the same way Batman should always sound like Kevin Conroy. I am hoping he didn't say, Raven should sound like she's been up all night screaming Your mother sucks cocks in hell". I like how they are trying to take Raven to a J-Horror place, but they are going to have to make this a touch more subtle. I am not yet sold on Teagan Croft from this short bit, but willing to see what she does in the pilot.

This is the one character that I was reasonably sure I'd hate, and I already think Ryan Potter's Beast Boy is the best, truest depiction of a Teen Titan we've seen yet. Comedy is hard, though, and they can easily make him a green annoyance if they aren't careful. Good luck.

I want to be kind here, out of respect for what they're doing. But, with all respect, this isn't Starfire.

This isn't remotely the things that made Starfire cool and a great part of the team's dynamic. Where is the naiveté and unfamiliarity with human customs and exceptional positive idealism that made Starfire so endearing and important to Robin's continual edginess? This level of wary and streetwise would be perfect for a 6th-season Starfire, but pointless here. Anna Diop is wasted in what I can only describe as a way-off-base attempt at the character, and it's a shame.

Alright, Talkbackers, have at it.... your thoughts?
