Freddy Beans here with a trailer cut to look very dark in tone for TYREL.
This looks very interesting.
The story follows Tyler as the sole black man on weekend getaway with a bunch of Caucasians for a birthday celebration in the Catskills.
The title TYREL is clever and eludes to how Tyler’s name is misheard and becomes Tyrel over the course of this one.
The poster and concept seem to steal in plain sight from GET OUT. Unlike GET OUT however, there may not be a horrific tea induced ending here. The horrors here are misunderstandings that creep under your skin and fester to create larger problems in a group dynamic.
Not being accepted and wanting to belong in a group. These are universal concepts that touch all of us.
I’m not certain this is a horror film. It seems to play with tension and race relations but maybe it ends on a happy note. Of course it could just as easily end up like SURVIVING THE GAME right?
