Jack Black Wants to Make a NACHO LIBRE Sequel!

Evening, geeks!

NACHO LIBRE is one of those films where a lot of people don’t really know what to make of it at first. I found that over time, and with more watches I grew to like it quite a bit. The movie was fun and actually had some good messages.

The film was loosely based the story of Fray Tormenta, a Mexican Catholic priest who had a 23-year career as a masked luchador and competed in order to support the orphanage he ran. In Jack Black’s version: he played a cook/monk at a Mexican orphanage named Ignacio, he turned to wrestling after he was robbed for the the tortilla chips he was collecting for the orphans. I was surprised that Nickelodeon Movies took on anything that even touched on religion, but I’m glad they did!

What’s the deal with Nickelodeon Movies, anyway? They produce movies just so few and far in between. I think the most recent thing they did was the straight to television HEY ARNOLD!: THE JUNGLE MOVIE (a movie that neatly tied up the TV series, giving a lot of the long time fans true closure on the show).

According to Deadline, Black revealed that he wanted to make a sequel to the movie on the JONATHAN ROSS SHOW. You all will probably crucify me for having an unpopular opinion, but I like Jack Black. However, I don’t think that a sequel to NACHO LIBRE is really necessary. The movie was a good one off thing on its own. There doesn’t need to be anymore development of any of the characters. If he wants to please the fans, he should just focus on the PICK OF DESTINY sequel, or work harder on getting BRUTAL LEGEND 2 out for the gamers.
