Julian Schnabel's "At Eternity's Gate" Trailer Stars Willem Defoe as Vincent Van Gogh!

 Hola Dannie aqui,

CBS Films released a trailer for "At Eternity's Gate" a film that stars Willem Defoe as the tortured artist Vincent Van Gogh. Defoe is perfect to play the emotionally troubled master painter, and I am extremely interested in where Defoe will take the role. Defoe has an insane history in cinema dating back to  1980, some of Defoe's films are "Platoon," "To Live and Die In LA," "The Last Temptation of Christ," "Missippi Buring," "Born on the Fourth of July," "Cry-Baby," "Wild at Heart," "Basquiat," "The Boondock Saints," "Shadow of the Vampire," "Spider-Man 1, 2, & 3," "The Life Aquatic," "The Florida Project," and "Murder on the Orient Express" to name a few.

CBS Films describes "At Eternity's Gate" as-

"Julian Schnabel’s At Eternity’s Gate is a journey inside the world and mind of a person who, despite skepticism, ridicule, and illness, created some of the world’s most beloved and stunning works of art. This is not a forensic biography, but rather scenes based on Vincent van Gogh’s (Academy Award® Nominee Willem Dafoe) letters, common agreement about events in his life that present as facts, hearsay, and moments that are just plain invented."

Here is the astonishingly beautiful trailer, read on for more information.

Below is a picture of director Julian Schnabel and one of his pieces of art.

"At Eternity's Gate" is the latest film by the devastatingly talented artist and filmmaker Julian Schnabel. Many of you may know Schnabel from his films "Miral," "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly," "Before Night Falls," the documentary "Berlin" and "Basquiat." "Basquiat" and "Before Night Falls" are two of my favorite films in my DVD library. I watch "Basquiat" bi-monthly and find it one of the most inspirational films based on the life of an artist I have seen, if you have not seen it or "Before Night Falls" you are in for a massive cinematic treat. Schnabel penned the screenplay for "At Eternity's Gate" with the help of Jean-Claude Carrière ("The Unbearable Lightness of Being," "The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie," and "Birth"). This all being said, it is crystal clear that I am more than intrigued and excited to see what the amazingly gifted Julian Schnabel and Jean-Claude Carrière will take us while exploring the iconic figure of Vincent Van Gogh.

Here is one of Julian Schnabel's pieces of art.

Alongside Defoe "At Eternity's Gate" stars Oscar Isaac ("Star Wars: The Last Jedi," "Ex Machina," and "Annihilation") as the painter Paul Gauguin, Rupert Friend ("The Death of Stalin," and "The Young Victoria") plays Vincents greatest supporter his brother Theo. The film also stars Niels Arestrup ("A Prophet" and "War Horse"), Emmanuelle Seigner ("Frantic" and "Venus in Fur"), Mathieu Amalric ("Munich," "The Grand Budapest," and "Quantum of Solace"), and Mads Mikkelsen (TV's "Hannibal," "Doctor Strange," and "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story").

"At Eternity's Gate" just premiered at the Venice Film Festival, and is set to hit the New York Film Festival coming up soon. The film will play in select theaters on November 16th. I am beyond ecstatically excited to see Schnabel's latest masterpiece, and I have no doubt in my mind this film will be an eloquent and emotional portrait of one of the most unforgettable artists to walk our green earth. How do all of you out there in Geeklandia feel about this trailer, subject matter, and Defoe as Van Gogh?

Stay Strong, Live Good, Love Movies!
