Wanna see a couple of Pics from PLANET OF THE APES that just RULE'

Hey folks, Harry here with a pair of gorgeous shots from PLANET OF THE APES... I think this first shot of Mark is excellent. I really dig the look of it, but more so the last shot which purports to be Michael Clark Duncan... Well, I've seen similar shots, but I have not seen the lower part of this picture... the chest piece before. I like this more subdued less garishly colored stuff. Really dynamic and creepy. Check out the third pic at the link below! Enjoy and thanks to our friends in Brazil for letting the rest of the world in on their excellent scoop!

Hi Harry:

Remember our Tomb Raider exclusive pics at SetOnline.Com.Br ? Now we have three greats pics from Tim Burton's PLANET OF THE APES. I never seen anywhere the Mark Wahberg piece. It's the coolest thing. We have two more pics in high-resolution: one showing Michael Clarke Duncan fully in make-up and another one that i've never seen showing Tim Burton directing Wahlberg.

All the three pics are OFICIAL. SET ONLINE is the virtual counterpart of portuguese-language magazine SET, published in Brasil.

I think You will like it a lot and I hope they are really news to you.

Thanx again

Harry, "I think this first shot of Mark is excellent. "

    by iaido

Uhhhh, "excellent"? Well, Harry must have a hard time flipping through any mens magazine without going, "Ohhhhh! Ahhhhhh! This is the most amazing photography ever! I am flabbergasted!" every other page......oh well, i'm a jerk. i'm tired.

and then there's the 2 DOZEN APES pics at Corona...

    by EricaRose

I guess you guys must have missed that stuff along with some extra's set report yesterday. At least it's in English.

  • Jan. 31, 2001, 9:25 p.m. CST

That looks like Michael Clarke Duncan all right...good shots.

    by Lenny Nero

It's Tim Burton so, in my opinion, there's no way it could be bad. Sorry, I had a soft spot for Peewee's Big Adventure when I was 3, and it just continued on from there.

Sorry, but I have to go with the opposite of your comment. It's Tim Burton, so in my opinion, there's no way it could be good. All style and no substance, baby.. go on Tim, you do your thing.

That's how everyone will act when they see this film. You'll see.

    by Monkey Lord

Did someone up there REALLY just say that the makeup sucks? Bigtime, at that? LoL! You've got to be kidding me! That was a joke right? The makeup is incredible! In the still image, anyway... The true test will be to see how the makeup looks in motion. But so far so good! And the armor looks pretty damned awesome, too. Here's hoping they treat the Planet of the Apes properties with the respect they deserves...

    by The Fat Baldwin

You wanna feast Dr.Zaius? Feast on this! All we need is Chest Rockwell, a leisure-suited Reynolds cameo and some sweet monkey love to "Feel My Heat" to top it off. Ow! If this crashed spacecraft is rockin', don't come-a knockin'! FB out.

    Wow that set looks amazingly...

    by Klam Bake

LIKE A SET! I'm sorry but I really think Burton and crew screwed up this whole deal. I'm in complete agreement with 3-bag enema here. They had a chance to do something new and amazing with this project and they decided to just do the same old thing. Oooh, so the make-up looks slightly more realistic than the original. So what! A guy in a monkey mask is still a guy in a monkey mask. Unless it's MJY. From all the pics, I gather these apes are equivalent to the Romans or some similar time frame. Does that mean no firearms? Hey I'm as much for gun control as much as the next liberal but I don't need to be preached to by Goth Boy and his half assed rapper turned actor. Enough of my bitching. Hey, at least I can look forward to LOTR in December.

If Charlton Heston in full ape make-up says to Mark Walberg, "Get your stiking paws off me you damn, dirty human!" I just might change my mind.

    Familiar uniforms...

    by CeeWulf

I hadn't noticed anyone else talk about it, but doesn't that uniform in the Michael Duncan Clark ape image look familiar? It's very much like the uniforms in the original "Planet of the Apes" movies. Slightly different, but almost exactly the same. This is very cool. I'm a little uncomfortable with the "re-envisioning" crap, but looking forward to the film. I would rather see a sequel the a re-working of the material. But, since the planet of the apes was virtually destroyed and ruined by nuclear war, I guess some changes would need to be made to the mythos.

could you all bitch a little more?

    by CutterJohnn

OK, this is only for certain people. You will know who you are or aren't. I am so fucking tired of all the bitching, complaining and critisizing that goes on here. If it's about a movie you've seen and you're offering an opinion, than fine. Far be it for anyone to take away that right. But if you're slaming something that you've never seen anything of 'cept for the tidbits you get here....then shut the fuck up. I'm sorry you don't have any control over your pathetic life at home...that mommy didn't luv you enough...that you didn't get a pony for.....ah fuck, pick one, just shut up till you see the damn film!!! Then have an INFORMED freaking MORONS!!!! God, do you comprehend what kind of pathetic losers you come across as being when you say some of the halfwitted comments stated here? Fine, whatever...I'm outta here.

  • Feb. 1, 2001, 3:46 p.m. CST

And none of you have even seen the film yet...

    by bitrott

Sad... Pathetic actually, because I'm not going to waste anymore tears on the ignorant. You don't even let a film finish its production and you're already dicrediting it because of 2 promotion quality pictures. 2! I'll admit to being a fan of Burton's but I'm not unreasonable. His films all have their share of flaws, but his contributions to visual filmmaking (as glossy and marketable as it seems to some of you proletariate wanks) areunmistakeable and universal. Let the man finish the film you pissers. As for me, I'm eager to see whether Walberg can build a decent genre career out of this one. I think he's got what it takes to be a serious franchise actor... take that as you will.

    The 3rd pic.

    by Horus

Has anyone else had a look at the 3rd pic thats posted at the original site.It shows Tim Burton looking a bit ill and haunted .How much pressure is he under on this flick? He looks like he should be in an hospital bed!.In the background to him , you can see a scarcrow thingy. These featured in the original film , just before the hunt scene. From this and every other pic , seen so far , it looks like this film, is going to be more of a straight remake , than the *re-invention* that early reports suggested. The production design is very close{as an earlier post mentioned, the costume designs for the gorillas ,seem to be a variation on Ursus/urko's get up.The somewhat Egyption styled headress for a start}Mark W's astronaught suit , is the same as Hestons as well. The Apes seem to be at the same level of technology{ low} and from the pics of a chimp, it seems they ride horses as well{ costume wise ..He looked like the apes answer, to Sleepy Hollows headless horseman!!}This is really starting to look like a sci fi version ,of the psycho remake a few years back!I suspect that whatever Fox's original intentions were, when Burton came on board, he's returning it closer to his memories of the original.Which is no bad thing...but does make the exercise seem pointless, and starts classing it in the same league as the nasty resent *re-inventions* of Lost in Space and wild Wild west.Has Hollywood run out of cult 60's tv stuff to tart up...

Of course you may speak your minds...

    by Monkey Lord

That is what the talkback is for. We just wish that those who want to speak their mind would do so responsibly and reasonably. I believe Mark Twain said something along the lines of "it is better to keep your mouth shut and let everyone think you are a fool, then to open it and prove them correct." I wish to God personal responsibility extended itself to people speaking out on things they don't KNOW or UNDERSTAND. Yes, it is your right to speak your mind on the Talkbacks... but my right to carry a gun doesn't give me the right to arbitrarily shoot you in the head does it? Think before you post, folks... "Will this make me sound like a jackass?"...if you care enough, anyways.

    pathetic and sad

    by CutterJohnn

man, you guys can't help but validate my point every time you open that shithole for a mouth you have. You guys can't do anything but bash shit, but I haven't once seen someone actually flex one single creative brain cell and justify their position or offer a better idea. you just bitch and complain...and I'll take that big bowl of fuck as long as you scarf down that huge bowl of bitching pussy flakes that you've been nursing for years and get it the fuck over with.
