TARANTINO CASTS LENA DUNHAM, A BUNCH OF OTHER PEOPLE IN “ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD!”

Roni Rampant here,

Well, this is a thing that happened. According to Deadline Hollywood, the Tarantino-helmed ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, starring Leo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, has made several notable additions to its cast, including Maya Hawke (daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke), Austin Butler, Lorenza Izzo, and – perhaps most surprisingly – writer, producer, actress and famous naked person, Lena Dunham.

Dunham has been no stranger to controversy since her polarizing show GIRLS became a hit on HBO, but the quirky millennial seemed to go from “loved or hated” to “just plain hated” after making a series of racially insensitive remarks, burning up whatever remaining good will she might have had when she decided it was a good idea to defend a GIRLS staff writer, Murray Miller, from accusations of sexual assault  by young black actress Aurora Perrineau, who was 17 at the time of the alleged incident.

Leonardo diCaprio and Brad Pitt do Hollywood in the 70s.

ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD is set in 1969 in Los Angeles, and sounds like an Altman-esque tribute to “the final moments of Hollywood’s Golden Age.” It features multiple storylines and a large ensemble cast that includes Margot Robbie, Timothy Olyphant, Dakota Fanning, Al Pacino, Emile Hirsch, Scoot McNairy, Luke Perry, and Tarantino favorite Michael Madsen, among others.

Tarantino’s movies have been known to breathe new life into the careers of people like John Travolta and Pam Grier, so maybe he can sprinkle some magic dust on Lena Dunham’s career, as well. What do you think? Is Lena due for a comeback? Or are we still waiting for her to go away?

Also - can we talk about how Brad Pitt is giving off strong Redford vibes here? Hubba!
