Freddy Beans here with TOP GUN: MAVERICK casting news from DEADLINE.com.
Jon Hamm (MAD MEN), Lewis Pullman (THE STRANGERS: PREY AT NIGHT), and Ed Harris (WESTWORLD) are joining the cast for Paramount Pictures sequel to TOP GUN. They join Tom Cruise, Jennifer Connelly, Glen Powell, Miles teller and Val Kilmer, who were previously announced.
Joseph Kosinski (TRON: LEGACY) directs this one co-written by Peter Craig, Eric Warren Singer and Justin Marks (Screenplay.)
The plot is still largely unknown except that Pete Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is training another hot shot ace in Miles Teller at the fabled Top Gun school. AKA Highway to the danger zone.

I wasn’t a big fan of the sand volleyball movie subbing as a jet fighter flick in the first place. I’m sure you can tell. Only thing I’m excited about here is Iceman is back!! Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the movie, it’s certainly not bad by any stretch. I just never understood the fanfare for it. TOP GUN like it or not is iconic. So I imagine there’s going to be a shit-ton of butts flopping into the movie house for TOP GUN: MAVERICK. I’ll just be a maverick myself and watch it on Netflix, 6 months later.
TOP GUN: MAVERICK is set to be released in theaters July 12, 2019.
