That trailer will probably drive a lot of people batty, while absolutely thrilling others with delight.
If you’ve seen Jim Hosking’s first film THE GREASY STRANGLER you know what you’re in for. One of the weirdest disco themed greasy murder mysteries you will ever see. Probably also the only one you will see. I absolutely recommend it. You will either laugh at it for being crap for film or appreciate its willingness to go where no other film will. It’s like a Wes Anderson film dipped in peyote. Call that “Horseshit” if you must. I think it's brilliant.
AN EVENING WITH BEVERLY LUFF LINN stars Aubrey Plaza, Jermaine Clement, Emile Hirsch, Craig Robinson.
With that cast, I’m pretty excited. I’m an enormous fan of Jermaine Clement’s work in FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS. They are a hard to explain blend of comedy and folk music that works charms on my pleasure centers. Here’s my personal favorite Business Time by them.
Back to Beverly Luff Linn. The synopsis has Lulu (Aubrey) in a loveless marriage when a man from her past arrives in town to perform at an event titled “An Evening With Beverly Luff Linn; For One Magical Night Only.”
Not a lot to go on there but I can promise this flick won’t stick to that simplistic logline.
AN EVENING WITH BEVERLY LUFF LINN was written by Jim Hosking and David Wike. It’s available in theaters, VOD, and Digital HD on October 19th. At 108 minutes the disco era shouldn’t wear too heavy on you either.
