Live Action TRANSFORMER THE MOVIE Test Shot''' Real or Fabrication'

Hey folks, Harry here.... Just over a year ago I talked with former Studio Suit BigWig Chris Lee about his Production Company, SUPERMEGA MEDIA, about their entire slate of development projects. (CLICK HERE TO READ THAT STORY!) Just recently we heard about the movement of Stephen Norrington being on board the SHANG-CHI project I told you about originally in that report... Well, if the following is real... then it seems that we have the first look at some of the test work done on the Joseph Kahn directed Live Action TRANSFORMERS THE MOVIE that we first heard about a year ago. And loook... IT'S OPTIMUS PRIME!!!! LOOK! Oh Maaaaaaaan, I wanna see this movie baaaaaad. I'm going to be talking to Chris as soon as I'm done with this TV stuff I'm doing this week, to get to the bottom of this... but if that is real.... WAY COOL... If it isn't real, then SuperMega ought to release something that is, cuz if some fanboy doctored this baby up... then Christ... I can't imagine how cool a real FX house would do it!

Harry Here... Is this a Adobe Photoshop fanboy pic using a picture from the latest issue of TOYFARE? I haven't seen that issue yet, but HomerFett claims that's the case in the 2nd Talk Back below! Anybody else confirm this? I've just done a bunch of hunting around online to see what I could see... I don't keep up with the modern TRANSFORMER toys like I did my Transformers of yesteryear... but I managed to find THIS, and from that, I think we can pretty much say that 'Huffer' down below is a 'Bluffer'. I'll keep the story up just so everyone can comment (call me names) and discuss the possibilities of a TRANSFORMER movie, which I will be following up on very soon!

I can't say where I used to work/still work/never worked, but I can tell you this is a legit test from predesign work we did on the live-action Transformers movie project.

I don't know if the movie will ever see the light of day, but it was fun creating the animation tests.

This sucker actually transformed. Here's a still. I'll try to hit you with a few more.

Call me, Huffer."

    Damn, that DOES look good.

    by Mr_Intimidation

I still remember running home just to see reruns of this show. Damn, what is it about the idea of transforming robots? it's such a simple concept, but it's so damn....GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. I just hope they leave those God-awful "Beast Wars" crap out of it. Jesus Christ, talk about taking a great idea and smashing it in the head until its brain oozes out, then stamping on the remains, and finally smashing it on the head again just to be sure, THEN finally burying it.

    the wonders of Photoshop

    by Homerfett

Wow!!!! somebody scaned a picture of the Medicom transfomer figure from Japan and put in a Cityscape, Check out the last issue of Toyfare for the exact same picture. By the way the toy cost more than a Franklin if your looking to run out and by it.

    by Mighty Ostrich

If this was real Optimus should be towering above the buildings. He looks about the same size as Goldbug! :)

    'fraid I have to agree.

    by GermanCity

Anyone who thinks this a bit of ground-breaking special effects is fooling themselves. Aren't we a bit past super-imposition? On the other hand, if this was created as part of a testing process, just to get a feel for how things might still kinda sucks. I'll not let myself get excited about this in the least. I hate having hopes dashed. But there is certainly no good reason not to make this movie. It'd be great to see the old 'bots back in action. I have to disagree with the above poster about the lastest incarnations of the 'formers. While I wasn't a huge fan of Beast Wars, I watched every episode of MainFrame's Beast Machines on FOX. That show kicked ass. Beautiful CGI for a TV series, and a decent plot to boot. But I was always hoping for a throw-back to the original series. Classic Prime, classic Megatron, am most of all, StarScream....the back stabbing bastard. If they could get the original voice-actors, I'd be on board. Hell, I'd watch a 2 hour film of the Transformers beating the living energon out of the Go-Bots. "I am Optimus Prime, leader of the Autobots, ancestor to the rulers of Cybertron.....and I will not allow my patent to be infringed!"

    by Kyle.Reese

Those characters were cool. Octomus Prime, his ach-rival who turns into a gun (funny when you notice how big he is as a robot), that transformer who changes into a cassette player too... Wait a minute, this sounds like I'm being sarcastic, but I'm not.

that just looks pants. 5 minutes work for anyone who knows their way around a graphics/photo program. Or is there MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE?.....TRANSFORMERS DA DA DA ROBOTS IN DISGUISE! Ahhh nostalgia...

I want this more than Episode 2 - is that wrong?

    by dastickboy

Very obviously a fake, and if not, that CGI house SUCKS! What's happening at SuperMega Media? Ever since Harry did his initial piece nearly a year ago, I've been checking back to their website and nothing seems to have moved forward. Damn they had some good plans - Ecks Vs Sever, Heavy Gear Live Action, Everquest movie, LA Swat, Transformers - where are these productions at?

    Who's Ducky?

    by jeffv

JPEG file header says "Adobe", if that's a help to anyone. It also has the name "Ducky" in it. About the lighting: if this were a professional test shot, then shouldn't there be a shadow cast on the people at the crosswalk on the right?

  • Jan. 30, 2001, 4:29 a.m. CST

    You must be joking.

    by Psyclops

Does anyone actually believe that this is a real 'test shot'? Get the fuck out of here! I'm not one of those people who claims that every new post on this site is fake, when those 'Planet of the Apes' pics came out a few months ago I pretty much agreed that it was genuine, but this is a horribly fake and not to mention cheesy looking photo. It's the damned action figure fitted into a crowd shot for christ sakes!!!

  • Jan. 30, 2001, 4:34 a.m. CST

    by slav

That pic was a piece of shit and I've seen better looking shit off my arse...... As much I'd like to see a live action Transformers movie, the mention of aThundercats movie tickles my dangly bit. That would be prehaps even more awaited.....

  • Jan. 30, 2001, 4:44 a.m. CST

    Okay, now I'm calm.

    by Psyclops

I just realized how much I really miss the Transformers. As a matter of fact, I miss every single cartoon from the 80's... even the Go-Bots! I think a Transformers live action movie would be a great idea so long as it was in the right hands. I'd love to see the old gang back - Optimus Prime, WheelJack, Bumblebee, Starscream and that raspy voiced Megatron! Galvatron was pretty sweet too! Sigh... I wish I would have kept my old action figures... at least the HE-MAN toys are coming back for a limited time. "By the power of GraySkull..." --you know the rest.

Page 71 of the ToyFare w/ Harry on the cover

    by squidman

Wow, I'm sorry to break this to everyone (but it seems that you all figured it out on your own anyway). The ToyFare with the picture of the new Simpson's Comic Book Guy action figure on the cover features the same shot (a nice TOY, but an inferior cinematic effect). All in all, a valiant effort. Just a personal aside, if they ever did a Transformers live-action movie, I'd pray for a little more realism. Let's see a little dirt on Prime's hide from road-wear. Let's see windshield wipers on his chest. Don't stream-line it so much. Oh well. Begin mocking my opinions at will.

  • Jan. 30, 2001, 5:36 a.m. CST

    sad but true

    by MrGreen

It's true, the pic of Prime is of a new (rather cool) toy out now in Japan. here is some one selling it on E-bay, if you look closely at the chest you can see the matrix of leadership inside.

  • Jan. 30, 2001, 5:53 a.m. CST

    I want this movie!

    by tylerdurden

I don't know what the deal is with that pic, but I do know that I'm glad this movie might still come. I was starting to believe that reading about a life-action TF movie last year was all just a dream!

  • Jan. 30, 2001, 5:59 a.m. CST

    Sigh. . .

    by RenoNevada2000

Yea a Transformers movie would be fun, and I wasn't even a fan of the original cartoons. But to me the Live Action movie that is just SCREAMING to be done is Frank Miller and Geof Darrow's"Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot!!!!!!!" Giant Monsters fighting a giant robot!!!! OH YEAH! (I'm just psyched because Fox Kids is finally running the series in the afternoons!)

  • Jan. 30, 2001, 6:44 a.m. CST

Yeah, It's fake, but still cool to imagine

    by moviet00l

By the way, Optimus' arch enemy was Megatron, and the tape deck was Soundwave. Remember the tapes that he could eject that would also transfrom (Ravage, Rumble, Frenzy)? Cripes, I thought that was the coolest thing ever when I was a kid. Hell, it might STILL be the coolest thing ever. And the Go-Bots sucked.

  • Jan. 30, 2001, 6:49 a.m. CST

    So what if it's fake?

    by Jobriga3

It's still a damn cool picture and kudos to Harry for posting it. All you who so cleverly figured out that it was a Photoshop manipulation can pat yourself on the back.

  • Jan. 30, 2001, 6:50 a.m. CST

    by Stefka

Well, even if it is fake, at the very least it convey's interest. It certainly got us talking at the very least. Now how about a fake Voltron the Movie screen shot!!!

  • Jan. 30, 2001, 7:26 a.m. CST

Be careful what you wish for.......

    by Ravenid

Be carefule what you say about bringing back tv shows as movies. We've already had Inspector Gadget & Masters of the Universe. And we all know how good those movies were dont we children? This sort of mindless spouting of 80's cartoons could spark off a cheesy cartoon series live action revival. (Eh wait we're too late Dungons & Dragons, Spiderman (Kinda) plus the 100's of animated ones. Oh well.) But seriously they already did a new CGI version of Voltron. Do you really think the world is ready for a live action version? Because if the can do that the can do...........HULK HOGANS ROCK AND WRESTLING!!!!!!!!! You Have been warned!!!!

  • Jan. 30, 2001, 7:32 a.m. CST

Must have Cullen and Welker doing voices!

    by Someguywithaname

If this is real they gotta have Peter Cullen(prime)and Frank Welker(megatron) back to do the voices. I can remember thinking how cool a live action Transformers would be in the mid eighties--but I figured it would take 20 years. Well--they had the technology to do it ten years ago. Too bad Chris Latta isnt around though--it wouldnt be the same without Sssssstaaaaarrrrsssccrrreeeeeeaaaaammmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jan. 30, 2001, 7:34 a.m. CST

    It's a fake.

    by Waspinator

That, as mentioned before, is a recent statue of Optimus Prime made in Japan, called Metalforce Convoy. It's a pretty nifty picture, though, I have to say. Oh, and if you hate Beast Wars, you obviously haven't watched much of it. Despite the concessions that had to be made because it is a toyline-based cartoon, it is a wonderful show. The writing is infinitely superior to the original cartoon (which, yes, was extremely cool when I was 10 years old, but now almost makes my skin crawl). Oh, and keep in mind, Optimus Primal is not Optimus Prime, and BW Megatron is not the original Megatron. Even Beast Machines, the inferior successor to Beast Wars, has better writing that the original TF cartoon, though the storyline isn't all too wonderful. 95% of serious Transformers fans got past the "BEAST WARS SUX" phase several years ago, when they realized that it really is a great cartoon, that does indeed build on the original (including cameos from Starscream, Ravage, and in a way, Unicron, plus the lifeless bodies of Optimus Prime, Megatron, and others.) Ah, I could go on and on about what a wonderful show Beast Wars is. But I won't.

  • Jan. 30, 2001, 7:34 a.m. CST

    On the other hand

    by Someguywithaname

The chances that a live action T film sucking is quite good. I fed the data into teletran-1 and he concurred(in Casey Kasem's voice of course). And sad but true--some damn hollywood hack would fuck up the design or characters.

  • Zoids? They are still going strong in Japan. The even have a cartoon series over there. I know I have a link to a web page about Zoids somewhere. Ahh yes here we go: Try that.

  • Jan. 30, 2001, 7:41 a.m. CST

    Beast wars? bah

    by Someguywithaname

That show was made in my backyard(Vancouver). I know a guy who works there. And I caught a few episodes. The concept is terrible(robots turning into animals). At least on the original they had autobots or decepticons creating the dinobots etc. Cheetor? Ratbot? The show is made up of one liners. I'll take Marvel's sunbow contribution over Mainframe's any day. Dungeons and Dragons was better than all of them anyway. And the voice cast was far superior on those old shows. And dont forget the music! They gotta release the soundtrack for the original shows(including Gi joe) on disc one of these days.

  • Jan. 30, 2001, 7:46 a.m. CST

    by Ravenid

DEAR GOD NO!!! If you value your sanity at all you will not buy any cd that has the thems from ANY old tv series that you liked for one reason. THEY DO NOT LEAVE YOUR HEAD!!!! Ever since I saw the picture on top of the page I cant get the Transformers tune out of my head. I've started to hum it now. I'm at work, people around me think I'm crazy!! Thank god I cant remember the Ulysess 31 tune. That drove more young children to suicide than Barney has ever done.

Sadly Its A Fake....But We Can Still Hope....

    by 20th Century Fox

Harry, My friend youve been duped...If this is a test shot then the FX house that did it anit gonna get the job cause it SUCKED!!! It looks like a CG creation superimposed onto a live picture. O.P. Looks CGI not Metallic (Just look at the cars and look at O.P. and you will see what I mean.) Now dont get me wrong I WOLUD BE FIRST IN LINE to see a live action TF movie WITH the orginal voice cast (Ahhh who cant not love Chris Latta as Star Scream with his wonderful sarcastic lines "Youre All Military Morons..." said he to the combatacons...) but sadly I agree with the poster its gonna take MAJOR cash to make this puppy work in live action and yes it will need a good story and some depth in other words if you have 60 foot tobots fighting some people are gonna die...

    by Spyhunter

A lot of the original series actors have passed away, including Chris Latta. So if they were to include a lot of the old characters, they're gonna have to do some recasting. I think Michael Pataki would do a decent job as Starscream.

    Come on, Harry...

    by Theta

I could tell that was a fake just by looking at it. Admittedly, it's an excellent fake, but it's STILL obviously a fake. As for a live-action "Transformers" movie...making a good one would be HARD. The cartoon was designed to sell toys, not tell stories, although it's been pointed out the series was obviously inspired by the 70s energy crisis. With the California blackouts, you might have an interesting story there.

    it's a fake alright

    by Private Witt

i have to agree with Waspinator. Beast Wars was a good cartoon but Beast Machines was crap. BM got into that spiritual angle and it messed up the whole Transformers "idea". The best episode of Beast Wars was Code of Hero where Dinobot sacrificed himself. That was a well done episode. Anyone remember the Inhumanoids? That was a kick ass cartoon. I think i'm going to go watch my tape of Transformers The Movie.....and it's the one where Spike says "shit"!

    I THINK I remember zoids....

    by HugoHeir

I have this memory in the back of my head of toys, specifically a brotosaurus with a couple of missile bays strapped to its neck. Does this sound familiar to anyone else? That stuff was off the hook! btw, that pic is lame fake, but it's still interesting to think about. A thought: if this optimus prime is a pic of a japanese toy, does that mean that in this scene Optimus starts tearing down buildings breathing fire (much to the dismay of the japanese locals, no doubt)?

    Too much gaussian blur

    by Project: 2501

I seriously hope this was posted just so you could send a warning to people sending you garbage leads. A blind man with amputated fingers could tell this was faked. That looks like a stock photo for one, and I'm willing to bet that picture of optimus prime they used started out as a .jpeg when they got it. Looks like they ran guassian blur to correct its initial compression, only to have its numbers and quality crunched again. I'm surprised they didn't go as far as adding the Solar Flare effect, every monkey that learn photoshop loves that one......

    Reading Comprehension. . .

    by RenoNevada2000

It's nice to see that even after Harry says its a composite of a picture of a toy and a picture of a street some here are still denouncing it as really crappy CGI. Pay attention people there will be a test on this!! (And if you want to see crappy Computer Graphics I could show you some stuff on my old TI-994A.)

  • Jan. 30, 2001, 9:13 a.m. CST

    That ain't real

    by Cwells

Is it me or is there no one looking at this big robot in the middle of the street? I would look.

  • Jan. 30, 2001, 9:17 a.m. CST

This will henceforth be known as mistake number one.

    by spydahman

I guess I could maybe believe that this rather crappy image is part of a testing process. But this is a bad idea to begin with. I love the Transformers just like any other child of the 80's, but this is still a lame idea. It would look rediculous. The hole idea of the cartoon is so far fetched that to try to depict it in a "realistic" fasion could not turn out well. In order for a revisit to the world of the Transformers to be taken at all seriously they'd be better of just doing a compleatly CG film. That's my vote.

  • Jan. 30, 2001, 9:27 a.m. CST

    by 1stGodling

  • Jan. 30, 2001, 9:40 a.m. CST

    Obviously fake, but fun

    by shuyun

Yes, it's kind of funny that a giant robot carrying a big plastic toy gun is standing ignored in the middle of a busy street. Someone had some fun, and if the creator comes to this site they'e probably having a good laugh. Still, as much fun as this shot it, I really hope they don't try to make a live action Transformers. Those kinds of robots could only exist in a cartoon, or maybe a CGI film. C'mon, freakin 50 foot robots turning into a hand pistol? or boombox? It would look horrible. The fanboys would end up hating it, and since they're the only ones that would go see it, it would bomb horribly. Why do we always hear so much bitching on this site about how awful remakes are, yet when someone mentions remaking an old, bad (yes I loved it when I was 10, but I couldn't watch it now)cartoon, everyone goes nuts?

I like Transformers. I like G1, Beast Wars, heck, I even enjoyed an episode or two or *bleh* Beast Machines. And as much as a live action TF flick makes my nipples hard, we have to approach this like the invention of time travel. Would it be beneficial to mankind, or dangerous? I just don't want us ending up with another "Inspector Gadget" is all. A live action TF is cool, but whoever's doing it, PLEEEEEASE do it RIGHT!

    by Bry-Guy

You totally made my day. I swore to all my friends that when mymother took me to see Transformers in the theater, Spike said "Shiiiiiit!!" when the ship was going down. My mom covered my ears and, afterwards, couldn't believe they did that in a cartoon. None of my friends got to see it in the theater, so when we all watched it on VHS a million times, I would always get a flashback that told me that the dialog there has changed. I forget...either he yells "Damn!!" or just screams "AAAAHHHH!" in the VHS version. You say you have a copy with the curse left in?! How do I get a copy??!!!! Finally My friends won't think I'm crazy! I credit that very moment in my childhood with corrupting my psyche. This stupid photoshop picture just completed the job. If you go to the link to Ebay that someone posted above, you can see that one of the pictures is the exact picture used in this supposed "test shot"!!! It's right there. The fuckface doctored it up a little bit, darkening the red, adding the gun, shortening the horns on his head, and adding the shit lighting. Find out who this bastard is who's turning our one true geek fandom resource against us! I want his head!!!!!"SHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!" (p.s.) I agree with the person that said that no company would waste two cents to make a test shot for this franchise of the past. HARRY, when you talk to your friend to follow up on this groundbreaking news, try not to take his reaction personally...

I hope to god this is real. Please, please, please, PLEASE! let this be real. I mean, sure, it's a fake pic, but man, the idea is amazing... I want this bad. Really bad. Anyone interested in a TF role-playing game?

    couple of things

    by Thumper2k1

    1) yes its fake 2) No Optimus would no be towering over buildings. Lets not forget he's the size of the cab part of the truck. How many do you see that are the length of a building? Non. At most he be the size of a 3 story house. 3) Be careful of what you wish for. To those who want to see a live action movie just think about this. Keeping in mind point #2, in robot mode, Optimus and Megatron are both the same height. Are you seriously going believe that a 3 story robot can transform into a rifle? Or a tape recorder? Or any of the numerous physical inconsistencies in the show? Can a transformer change into a shuttle craft and hold a platoon of robots? Nope. It's works in a kids cartoon but not in a live action movie.

Still cool, but probably not authentic.

    by superninja

Man, I love Optimus Prime. I love the whole war-of-the-robots brought to Earth concept. Just no teenage kids befriending the Autobots if this does go forward. Even though many of the cartoons were cheezy, I thought there was this pathos about the characters, being forced from their homeworld by war and their struggle to return home. I'm a dork, and proud of it!

    Yeah, but

    by moviet00l

Normally, I'd join in with those who say a Transformers Movie could never work, but I foolishly said the same thing about X-Men and look what happened. I think the problem isn't with the fact that Megatron decreased in size by 500% every time he transformed, but the fact that they were never consistant with it. Sometimes, he's be a man-sized gun, sometimes a robot-sized gun, it was confusing. And I loved the Inhumanoids . . . "Cursed amber!"

A bad idea? the wrong people's hands a bad movie perhap

    by superninja

Transformers is a great concept. The Autobots are pursued to Earth by the Decepticons, two warring factions had been fighting over control of their home planet. They crash-land on primitive Earth, where they remain for thousands of years while their online computer collects data about their surroundings. An earthquake threatens to destroy the ship and the computer wakes them, giving them adaptability to the current century, which is in the form of cars and other machine devices. We're talking about a highly-advanced alien society, not a bunch of toys. From then on the whole point is to protect Earth's population from the Decepticons and find a way home. By the way, did the Decepticons pursue Prime & Co. because he was after the Matrix? I can't remember. If this were real, I'd really streamline the robot cast. Notice the Decepticons pick objects of war and destruction, and the Autobots try to fit in with humanity. Soundwave would have to be something a little more clever than a boom box. Any suggestions?

    Better than BeastWars

    by DiernaSoul

After looking on that image I'd say somone did a quick cut and paste job in Paint Shop Pro!....I agree that Optimus Prime should be way bigger. I'd love to see a live action Transformers movie using the original Transformers of course and the Dinobots!!...YEA! Grimlock!!...I don't like the Beast Machines...altho I have seen some eps...but only cuz the rat dude is cute...*L*...My mom's boyfriend is a huge BeastWars fanatic tho. But man! I'd love to have a Transformers movie with the original cast!..It just wasn't the same after Optimus Prime was killed off! As for a Thundercats movie....It would probably be done by Cartoon Network since they have most of the rights to the series. I wish Cartoon Network would show the Transfomers cartoon series!!!....That would be soo cool!....

This would be a horrible, horrible movie

    by Prime

OK, first off, would you jackasses please read the bloody talk backs before you write, i mean hell, maybe a third of all of them have the same explanation of what it is , how it was done and how it was fake, hell, with everybody's info up there, anybody could make one so stop makin yourself a jackass. Yes its fake, we know, so shut up. Now, as far as a live action movie, no, hell no, i believe youd get your ass kicked for saying something like that, now i love transformers , but a live action movie would be horrible, with all of the other ones already out, the anal rententive directors as some have said and overall hollywood. Now a new movie with the old formers ANIMATED would be good, id like to see that, that would be good, but live action HELLS NO, and am i the only one that hates all the new 3d shows, come on, they were cool when they first came out but now they are basically all the same, i see nothing super good abut em anymore, i absolutley hate em, am i the only one that actually enjoys good ol 2D animation, all this 3d crap is stupid and looks like it too, the old tv shows should start being aired again i believe , new movies would be nice if done by the origianl or at least good artists of the old days, i hate when they redo chars to make them more "edgy" , they completely ruin them, just stick with the old, you want new shows and 3d animations, make new SHOWS and such and not shark offa old classics. Sweet Sassy Mollassy Bryman, i got the Transformers VHS and i dont remember hearin Spike ever say shit but Ultra Magnus does say dammit, i had to rewind it when i first got it to make sure but he says it, oh yeah, and if they do hafta make a new live action TF movie, at least keep it with an all 80s soundtrack like the animated movie Prime

For some cat who probably threw that together while bored at work in ten minutes or so? At least it's kind of imaginitive. On the other hand, I can't believe Harry fell for that. I could dig a live action movie though. The lsat Transformers movie kicked heavy ass.

That's a Photoshopped Metal Force Convoy statue. This whole article gives me a migraine. Nnnnnggggghhhh. There is no Transformers movie in the works, none. It's not logical, it would lose money. Why? Other than a handful of fanboys and a smaller group of legitimate Transfans, no one would see the movie. No one.

Autobots transform and roll out please!!!

    by RAVAGE

This was some very coll news to wish for.Ever since they started all this CG crazy movies and saying they can do things they never thought possible, I thought wouldn't it be cool if they did a Tranformers movie.I only hope that if they do they stay true to the storyline and have it set in 1984 when the volcano awakens "telatron one".I had the chance to record all the "BEAST WARS" episodes and I thought that their story was way cool like towards the end when they found the arc and the decepticon battleship. It was also cool to see Ravage come back and to hear the original transform sound when he changed into the cassette. Until they could do the movie why don't they put the old transformer episodes on Cartoon Network during Toonami I can dream. P.S. What ever happened to that GI.JOE live action movie they where suposed to make in the early 90's.

    A True Story

    by Pildorr

Just the other day I was driving down the street, glad to be done with work and a mazda cuts me off. I look at the purpke car, a bit miffed until I see that the driver had stuck the Decepticon insignia on a window. This caused me to think of how cool a live-action Transformer movie would be, and how the original voice actors and robot designs would be crucial to the film's fiding favor amongst the geek population. I thought "Would you still want to hear the weird 'fugh-huh-hah-ha" noize when they transformed?" "Would they transform quicly, like on the show, or would the director go overboard and do a slow series of closeups as the car/plane became a robot?" Obviously, the origin sotry would have to be retold and that's it abecause just about everything eslse had so little continuity. Cripes! Megatron and Astrotrain are just a few of the spacial-mass-continuity criminals in that show. FReaking Heart oF Cybertron episode. Where did that come from? How come Megartron built the Constructicons in one episode, then, in a later episode, it showed the birth of Megatron --- with the Constructicons building him! Crap. That sucked. Beast Wars and Beast Machines went in directions I didn't care for, but then, I also didn't like the death of Optimus and Megatron and every other character in the movie. I was disappointed that the writers would resort to deaths of popular characters to tell a story. But I did love Unicron and the Quintesons. Keep them. Maybe the origin story with Unicron coming to eat Earth, Galactus style. Oh, and Inhumanoids, from the deapths of firey earth where nightmares begin. "Who can stop them?" "Earth Core I hope." Yeah yeah. I liked that one, too. And Zoids had the Giant Zerk, which was the brontosaurus, but I liked a different more complex series of Japanese put-together robots that I think were called Robostrux. (No, not Robotix or Constructs! I may have a million typos i this missive I'm not going back and checking, but give me SOME credit!)

  • Jan. 30, 2001, 7:37 p.m. CST

    It's pretty decent.

    by Lobanhaki

If it was photoshop. Expert would have people staring at this 20-30 foot tall robot in the middle of the road, but this looks to be a pretty good 2-D composite. He lined up the lighting pretty well, and managed to place the car in front of optimus to force perspective. However, I think he missed 2 things: Optimus has no shadow, and I think (don't know for sure) the compositor failed to show Optimus's legs through the windows of the car.

    by Ch

With the exception of GoodMachine having its offices here, nobody cares what happens in SoHo anymore - which I suppose is why none of the bystanders are reacting to a ten-foot-tall robot. A million talkbackers have said it, but I'll say it again - it's so fake, ooh. Where the hell did this picture even come from? Had it even been the product of a CGI-house test, they would have at least made him much much taller and put him next to the World Trade Center or the Empire State Building or something, certainly not on Wooster Street.

    live action G1

    by Harry The Hutt

Does anyone else remember the live action intros in the last season of G1?There was a CG Prime(powermasters version) talking to a kid named Ricky at the beginning and end of every show. They would set up the episode and then show the cartoon.Like in "The Return of Optimus Prime",Ricky asked how Prime came back and he'd basically say,"Like this"and they'd show the cartoon. This was at the same time they had Sgt.Slaughter host the G.I.Joe cartoon.

    G1 big continuity mistake

    by Harry The Hutt

I just remembered that there was a huge continuity mistake at the beginning of "The Return of Optimus Prime".At the end of the episode where the Quintessons bring him back,he's in a ship going towards the sun.The Quintesons turned him against the Autobots so he must destroy himself. He's in the ship and it shows parts of him and the ship exploding as he nears the sun. He's saying "'Till all are one"over and over the Autobots are on the ground watching him and they see the explosion as the ship goes into the sun.At the beginning of "Return" part one,he's sitting deactivated in the ship as it's heading towards the sun and no explosions or anything. Two astronauts find him in the ship and rescue him.WTF?He was detroyed and then he wasn't.There could have been a better way to bring him back than to just ignore the ending of the previous episode.

Transformers set in the 80s, the time in which the show originated. Crazy? Maybe...But I think that the 80s nostalgia coupled with a gripping story of warring factions from another planet would make one hell of a movie. I'm being totally serious here, so please let me know you're thoughts...

Any Transformers Movie Should Feature the Orginal Autobots & Dec

    by Ultra Magnus

Any movie (live action or animated) should feature Generation 1 Autobots & Decepticons - absolutely NO "Beast Wars" or "Beast Machines" crap. A new movie could successfully incorporate the best characters from the original series & THE TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE, avoiding mistakes such as killing off Optimus Prime & handing over the Matrix of Leadership to Hot Rod, or getting rid of a great villain like Starscream. And how about good ol' Ironhide? In the name of Cybertron, don't kill this trusty veteran in the first few minutes! Keep him around as the resident crotchety tough guy. (He could be the guy keeping Hot Rod in line instead of that stupid Kup character. Sheesh.)

    Animated Transformers from Japan.

    by superninja

It could be cool, but it could also be some really jizzed manga-crap that the American audiences (that means me) wouldn't buy. I like manga in a few places, but honestly...did you see how they re-made Gatchman? It was a cool cartoon, and then they had to make it all "adult" and give them cheezy powers and whatnot. Japanime could destroy the Transformers by redoing them. Beast Wars, etc. had good stories, but he animation was distracting, IMHO, not to mention them adapting as animals in a primitive culture that couldn't understand. If they had been worshipped as gods, that would've made sense...but there was no point in them becoming "animals". And Optimus Prime remains a pop-culture what does that say about his character? Kids loved it and embraced it -- he was a metal John Wayne for our generation. I think these characters deserve a reincarnation, as long as it's done properly. Long live Staaaarrrscreeeam!

A Transformers Photo Real CG/Live Action Movie could be Made...

    by Jason_Canty

But It would have to go the way of The Tim Burtan Bat Man Movies, X Men and not Like Inspector Gaget or Misson Imposible. What we need and probaly won't get is Good writers that know the History of the Show and Characters, A grate Director, and CHeep ass Hasbro to actuly help Fund the thing. Heck if they can Make a #$#@ing Thunder Cats movie (Good GOD I hope this isn't true) then they can Make a Transformers movie. THey just need to put some effort in to it and also give it a grate Marketing. Like a good year before the movie comes out have promotions, Billbords, and what not that Transformers used to have in the 80's.. Remember all the TF Junk back then? TF Lunch Boxes, Underwear, T shirts, Walky Talkies, Voice Changers, Trading Cards, Umm theirs more But I forget... Well if they do this and Make some "noise" it would get the fan base, and the older fans who barely remember it, as well as the Genural public intersted in the Idea. X-Men did well and its been going on for like 30 some years and suprisingly Few people out side of COmics and Cartoons actuly knew about X-Men (I remember watching morning shows last year and the hosts' wondering what it was about). So A TF movie could have a chance. As for the movie its self.. Stick with the Origonal Plot. 9 Million Years ago Prime An Megatron first meet, 4 Million YEars ago they Crash on Earth, 1984 they wake up and start all over again. They could make the first half of the movie a Retelling of More then Meets the Eye. The other half could be Fast foward to THE YEAR 2005. Setting for The origonal movie, Except They could be in their G2 forms (Megatron as a Huge Tank would be more Belive able then a freaking Gun). Since it would be 2005 all the Characters would Logicly need a Update any way to blend in so some of the Generation 2 Transformer forms could work too. Oh man Tank Megatron and Laser Rod Optimus Prime Beating the SLAG out of each other at Autobot City. And finaly they really need to show BIG BIG Explosons and Humans dieing. Thes are freaking giant Robots with Techknowligy Millions of years more advanced then ours. I want to see Major MAJOR damage to Citties, Blood, lose Parts and Leaking Energon all over the place.

    by f250

This sounds like a really great idea. If they can do X-Men and Spiderman, why not the Transformers. All the characters would be updated as far as their disguises are concerned. Optimus would probably look awesome as a brand new Mack or Freightliner semi truck, Megatron as a tank (preferrably a Russian T-90), Starscream as a F-22 Raptor, Prowl as a Ford Crown Vic police car, Bumblebee as a New Beetle, etc. I hope this movie comes out real soon.
