Hey folks, Variety brings word that the Stephen King novel From A Buick 8 is now headed to the silver screen.

Written and directed by William Brent Bell (THE BOY), FROM A BUICK 8 is about Curt, a state trooper killed by a drunk driver and his son, Ned, who begins spending time with his Troop D family after his funeral. Over time, Ned is let in on a secret within the ranks about a Buick Roadmaster found abandoned 20 years ago and locked out in a shed behind the trooper barracks. As Ned begins to untangle the mystery, something begins to stir in the old shed.

King loves 1950's car culture, and ghost cars that are 'just plain wrong'. One of the best tales of ghost cars ever is John Carpenter's 1983 adaptation of King's CHRISTINE:

I have always found it silly that cars drive around attacking people, knowing that they've only got about 1500 miles maximum before they're starved for fuel... unless they're awfully efficient, or solar. Which King actually delved into with MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE, his first outing as a film director:

Evil-possessed cars, despite being a GREAT trope, weren't invented by King, either, This one my older brother used to tease me about:

And never forget: the trope is so old, it predates being used for horror!
