ON THE BASIS OF SEX trailer is notoriously RBG!

Felicity Jones and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, ON THE BASIS OF SEX

Hey folks! For you, a trailer for ON THE BASIS OF SEX, the Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

The biopic stars Felicity Jones (ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY) as Ginsburg, a top-of-her-class lawyer who can't find work as a woman. Her husband Marty, played by Armie Hammer (THE SOCIAL NETWORK) happens upon a piece of litigation that might just open doors, both for Ginsburg and the concept of legal equality for men and women in the United States. Directed by Mimi Leder (DEEP IMPACT) from first-time feature writer Daniel Stiepleman's screenplay, the cast also includes Sam Waterston, Kathy Bates, Justin Theroux, and Stephen Root.

I think this will be, as biopics go, a great one, but I'm going to be uncharacteristically negative here, for just a moment.  What I hate about this trailer is the music, which is meant to be empowering to women. I have nothing against the song itself, or its use-- but it's the music editing of the trailer that makes me really cringe. I'm still in shellshock from having to cover all those 50 Shades trailers my AICN coworkers refused (oh, you KNOW I'm looking at you, Wheels!) and the music they are using is done in the exact same way as a 50 Shades trailer. So, Focus, please stop ruining great film trailers by associating it with dumbed-down S&M and wealth-porn fantasy that says money makes people better. Thanks!

ON THE BASIS OF SEX opens Christmas Day.
