Freddy Beans here with some probably underappreciated news from Deadline.
Nathan Abrams, professor of film at Wales’ Bangor University claims to have unearthed a long thought unfinished screenplay from the master himself Stanley Kubrick.
Written in 1956, with Calder Willingham (The Graduate), it’s titled BURNING SECRET and is an adaptation of the 1913 novella by Stefan Zweig. Kubrick and Willingham changed the Jewish woman and son into a contemporary Americana story, where a man befriends the kid to get intimate with the mom.
According to Abrams the script is essentially completed and could be made into a movie.
Of course that begs to question, do we want someone else filming Kubrick’s vision without anything but a half finished screenplay? I’m not sure I do, but it’s still awesome news and I’d like to read it.
Am I wrong? Is this something you want coming down the pipeline?
Til next time Kids
