Directed by Jesse Peretz ("Girls") from a screenplay by Evgenia Peretz (OUR IDIOT BROTHER) and Jim Taylor (DOWNSIZING) from the Nick Hornby novel, and starring Rose Byrne (BRIDESMAIDS), Ethan Hawke (FIRST REFORMED), Chris O'Dowd ("The IT Crowd") and Lily Newmark ("Emerald City").
JULIET, NAKED is the story of Annie (Byrne), who feels like she may have 'wasted the last fifteen years of her life' in a relationship with Duncan (O'Dowd), who is obsessed with his idol, the flash-in-the-pan alt rockstar Tucker Crowe (Hawke). When she mocks Crowe's latest album on Duncan's website, Crowe responds, and an unlikely friendship begins between Crowe and the long-suffering wife of a Crowe devotee.
I dig this. From the telling looks Rose's friends give Duncan as he talks himself out of his own relationship, to Crowe discovering the wall of idolatry where his chess club picture is hanging, this looks like a great story.
JULIET, NAKED opens August 17th.
