Gerwig eyes bringing us the third LITTLE WOMEN in three years!

Director Greta Gerwig is in talks to direct an adaptation of LITTLE WOMEN, the Louisa May Alcott classic for Sony. The potential cast for this project would include her LADY BIRD star Saoirse Ronan, Meryl Streep, Emma Stone (LA LA LAND), Florence Pugh (LADY MACBETH), and Timothée Chalamet (CALL ME BY YOUR NAME). No word on who would be playing what role... can't see anyone but Stone playing Jo in that cast.
As a Gerwig fan, I want to be on board with this. I really love this cast. I have watched terrible movies before because Emma Stone leaned on the DVD box and her elbow made an impression, so, yes, I'd likely see it. Meryl Streep makes a great matriarch, and Saoirse Ronan is more talented then the law should allow. And, I think they'd all be so wonderful in this movie. I just think as a modern update is coming out in September, and the BBC just did a classic version of it last year, it's becoming a glut of this same story. (And I'm actually looking forward to September's modern retelling, it looks good.)
