A Strong Addition to Bond 25

Hello, there! McEric here with an update on the upcoming 25th Bond film directed by Danny Boyle. It appears that veteran actor Mark Strong (KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE) will be joining the cast in a rather physical role.

Strong is no stranger to blockbuster films; he’s added support to SHERLOCK HOLMES, GREEN LANTERN, and KICK-ASS, as well as adding gravitas to dramas like TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY. This news is particularly invigorating based on how the lead was brought to our attention: through an Instagram post from trainer Giacomo Farci, who has been helping the actor get into fighting shape and hashtagging the shit out of his progress.

While it’s not unusual to drop casting news via social media (we’re all looking at you, Tom Holland) the reason this news sparks interest is in the training, itself. I loved Strong’s role as Merlin in the Kingsman films, particularly when he stepped out from behind the desk and did a bit of ass kicking, himself. To know that he’s focusing on getting in great shape leads me to believe that he’ll take an active role in this next James Bond film, playing either a villain (at which he excels) or possibly even a fellow MI6 agent. Either way, I’m excited to see what he will add to the franchise.

But personally, I’m hoping for villain.

Undoubtedly Bond will uncover these secrets next November, and if any clues arise between now and then, we’ll be sure to pass them your way.

Until then, see you at the movies!

McEric
