Actor Russel Geoffrey Banks contacted me and shared the trailer for his latest film "Who's Watching Oliver." A film that follows the obscene and insane actions of a serial killer named Oliver. The trailer is quick, graphic, and leaves you with an icky feeling, daring you to watch the film. Banks is probably best known for his work on "Tekken: Kazuya's Revenge," "King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table," and "Ghost House." Not only is Banks the lead actor in this he also helped co-write it with the director and Raimund Huber. Huber has written for the films "Dragonwolf" and "FreeRunner."
"Who's watching Oliver" is directed by Richie Moore who is making his theatrical directorial debut with this film. However, Moore is by no means new to the industry he has a hefty amount of Hollywood films he has worked on via camera, electrical department and as a cinematographer. Some films Moore has worked on are "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol," "Fallen," "The Hangover 2 & 3," and televisions "Marco Polo."
"Who's Watching Oliver" has won 6 awards on the festival circuit, three of which were Best Actor, Best Film, and Best Supporting Actress at the Vancouver Badass Film Festival. The other three awards were for best actor at three other fest's. The fact it's garnered some festival kudos gives me hope, and I look forward to reviewing this one soon. I am eager to give this film a go, what do all you out there in Geeklandia think? I know it looks like a lot of violence projected towards women in the trailer, and this may be profoundly disturbing to some, however, it should be. Statistically, most serial killers have issues with women usually stemming from relationships with their mothers/maternal figures and thus project their anger upon them. As a woman it is disturbing cinematically, however, the real world is even scarier. "Who's Watching Oliver" will be released on July 3rd that's only 8 days away!
