A lot of amazing stuff came of CineEurope in Barcelona this year, so let’s get right into it!
Lightstorm Entertainment’s Jon Landau announced on stage that the AVATAR sequels are in the middle of production, according to Deadline. James Cameron himself announced that water will play huge part in the sequels, and added that Kate Winslet can hold her breath for seven minutes. Okay… Apparently with the amount of water that is going to be in AVATAR 2 and 3, there have been a lot of problems with the surface of the water reflecting the markers, making false markers, slowing the production process of trying to fix that.
Zoe Saldana has just wrapped up her parts in “performance capturing”. Cameron went on to say that the early results have gone “beyond even our expectations.” There was no mention of what was going on with AVATAR 4 and five, but I’m sure they’ll cross that bridge when they get to it.
The AVATAR movie was so beautiful, it would be amazing if they shot one of the sequels as 360 degree movie. Who wouldn’t want that?
ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL, which Cameron wrote and is producing with Landau, had a handful of scenes shown to attendees at CineEurope and I am super jelly. We’ve only had one actual trailer for this movie, and it was announced that it was due to come come out on Christmas this year. Originally it was supposed to come out just a few days sooner on the 21st of December instead. If this doesn’t change by then, I’m probably going to see both SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE and ALITA on Christmas Day! That’ll be fun.
