A KINGSMAN Sequel and KICK-ASS Reboot Announced! ELTON JOHN Biopic! Universes Are Expanding! It’s Too Much, Man!

Morning, geeks. What fun news, this morning!

Matthew Vaughn, who brought you the previous KINGSMAN AND KICK-ASS movies, continues to deliver! Vaughn had a hand in either directing, writing, producing, or a combo in all of the KINGSMAN AND KICK-ASS movies thus far, and it was just announced that he will be directing the third KINGSMAN with MARV Studio, and bringing a reboot of KICK-ASS.

Do we really need a reboot of KICK-ASS already? The sequel came out only five years ago. The first one was great, the second didn’t do too well. I didn’t find out until AFTER I saw KICK-ASS 2, that Jim Carrey played Colonel Stars and Stripes! I was such a huge fan of Carrey when I was a kid, it’s strange that I didn’t recognize him. Looking back now, it was extremely obvious.

There seemed to be a lot of “normal folk trying to be superheroes” films coming out around the same time in the early 2010s. I’m still weirded out/appreciative of the 2010 film SUPER, that starred Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page.

Vaughn has not confirmed which incarnation he is going with for the reboot of the KICK-ASS series, but there is heavy speculation that they will go with Patience Lee, according to Empire. Lee is an African-American mother. So this new KICK-ASS series could be completely different from what we’ve seen before.

There is also talk of a solo HIT-GIRL movie in the works.

The KICK-ASS reboot will be shooting back to back with KINGSMAN 3. So KINGSMAN 3 is going to be called KINGSMAN: THE GREAT GAME, which will give us a look into the early years of the organization during the early 1900s. So it’s actually a prequel.

On top of all of that, there is a KINGSMAN mini TV series that will run in total about 8 hours long. A STATESMAN film is following that. STATESMAN is “following the world of Channing Tatum, Jeff Bridges and Halle Berry’s American agents.”

Marv Studios is promising us quite a lot. By the way, they also mentioned that there is an ELTON JOHN Biopic happening. What an ambitious studio.
