Locke & Key has been picked up by a new Network!

Hello all, Mad Dashiell here and thanks for joining me today.

News of a live-action adaptation of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez' groundbreaking graphic novel Locke & Key has been picked up by a new Network. Eager fans have been clamoring for a live action version since Fox filmed a Pilot back in 2011. It has been in cable network purgatory ever since. For a moment there was also talk of Scott Derrickson the writer and director of DR. STRANGE helming the project for Hulu. Word is sets were even already being built. But now Deadline has announced that the family of Keyhouse has taken up a new residence at Netflix.

Locke & Key is a complex, sprawling tale that spans generations while following the story of Nina Locke, her three children, Tyler, Kinsey, and Bode after surviving an unspeakable horror. The relocated family attempt to rebuild their broken lives at Keyhouse, their family home in Lovecraft, Massachusetts. Keyhouse is a mysterious New England mansion, with fantastic and transformative keys hidden throughout its grounds. The keys are also being sought by a relentless hate-fueled creature with deep ties to the Locke family's past. Whatever this creatures past may truly be It will stop at nothing to accomplish its dark design.

Mad Dashiell's Space For Rant- To say Locke & Key is Lovecraftian is an understatement. The town is named Lovecraft and if that isn't already a 1000-pound hint then the story itself touches on all the right elements for cosmic horror fans. The tale pulls no punches and gets you off to the races immediately with catastrophe afflicting the family by page 2. It is bloody and gruesome without having over the top gore trying to carry a scary story. Panels are brought to life with perfect art by Gabriel Rodriguez who is one of the greatest comic artists alive in my opinion. The levels of depth within the characters are amazing and emotions captured at times might move you to your core. Joe Hill for those that don't know is Stephen Kings son. I know that must have been a lofty shadow the try to get outside of being his kid but that apple fell right under the family tree. Some say Joe Hill writes like King except he is getting somewhere. As a King fan, I can relate, but Locke & Key is a graphic novel that must be experienced to really understand its inherent greatness. It is certainly one of my favorite comics I have ever read, I was addicted- Do yourself a favor and get started on the series asap if you haven't yet.

Just for fun here is the old pilot they filmed in 2011-

Let's face it- Thank the sticky star spawn that Fox didn't get a chance to ruin it all and cancel halfway through.

Thanks for joining me, Mad Dashiell signing off.
