WHAT YEAR IS IT?! Backstreet Boys’ NEW Music Video! A Wave of Musical Nostalgia?

Evening, geeks.

Yes, you read the title right, the Backstreet Boys dropped a new video “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” on YouTube!

I know it’s not your normal movie or comic book news, but music can deserve to be talked about too at times, especially when nostalgia is involved!  This is indeed a spectacle to be seen and observed, check it out!

Suddenly I’m transported to 1999, listening to “Larger Than Life” on the radio while I play Super Nintendo games. It may have been 19 years since then, but they still got it! Their voices sound just as good as ever, unless I’m being fooled by auto-tune, and they dance just as well in their youth! I was never one of those girls who was obsessed with the band, but somehow hearing from them today is like hearing from an old friend. I’d be lying if I said I never had one of their tunes stuck in my head. Though I have complained about the harm of nostalgia in the past, I’m still human and succumb to it myself at times.

The Backstreet Boys currently have a residency in Las Vegas, according to Rolling Stone, scheduled all the way to November.

Will we be seeing a whole new wave of music nostalgia in the media now? Not too long ago, it was announced that the Spice Girls were “returning” with an animated superhero film starring themselves. (Not many other details beyond that right now.) Will we see NSYNC pull something next? Although Justin Timberlake seems to be doing well for himself with his own music, acting, and great spots on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, I could see him getting into it.

Are you guys weirded out by this return, or welcome it?
