Annette Bening will grace CAPTAIN MARVEL with her sweet science!

Hey Everybody Freddy Beans here,

With news that Annette Bening will be in the new CAPTAIN MARVEL movie!

News broke at Hollywood Reporter

Clearly Marvel understands a highly respected actor like Annette will add the much needed legitimacy for this flick.  Even though it seems like Marvel isn’t capable of a misstep lately.  I worry a bit  as Captain Marvel is a lesser known character for most.  That and this is their first female-led feature film, though personally I’d have preferred to have seen a Scarlet Witch storyline first.  They really have just started touching on Magneto's daughters skillset.

Annette jumping into this film is as odd as Meryl Streep in a horror film, (DEATH BECOMES HER doesn’t count!)  Yet it fits.  Marvel gets their Oscar nominee level actress and Annette gets the residual checks of a lifetime….WIN WIN!
Insert Annette Pic…damn she’s still gorgeous!!

Those that have seen the Avengers know it ends on a Captain Marvel cliffhanger.   This movie however, is set in the 1990’s, so I think we have to wait til the next Avengers before we get to see how the two worlds meld.

CAPTAIN MARVEL is scheduled to come out March of next year.  Anna Boden is in the director’s chair here and I think she’s more than serviceable.  SUGAR was a damn fine film about a Dominican kid recruited into American minor league ball and MISSISSIPPI GRIND was surprisingly really fun, a movie about American disguised as gambling. Neither were big tent features but she can handle this and I hope impress the hell out of all of us.

Brie Larson is playing the 7th incarnation of Captain Marvel as Carol Danvers.  A pilot who’s DNA fuses with that of an alien (Ahem, Venom) and send her into an intergalactic adventure for our viewing pleasure.

Samuel L Jackson called to CAPTAIN MARVEL to save the day as the world faded away last we saw him, but here he’ll most likely be in recruiting mode, hence the call he made at the end of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR.

After DOCTOR STRANGE, BLACK PANTHER, and now AVENGERS, I’m solidly anticipating everything Marvel does.   Their world keeps expanding and therefore opening the doors to many more stand-alone movies and connected worlds.  It’s an exciting time to be a geek for sure!

Til next time Kids
