Disney Assembles An All-Star Cast To Adapt THE ONE AND ONLY IVAN



 Hello all, Mad Dashiell here and thanks for joining me today. Disney has begun production on THE ONE AND ONLY IVAN, the film is an adaptation of the award-winning book written by Katherine Applegate with illustrations by Patricia Castelao. May 1, 2018, in Burbank, Calif. Production began at Pinewood Studios outside of London. This project will be a live-action/CG adaptation hybrid of the well-known children’s book.


 The project will be directed by Thea Sharrock(ME BEFORE YOU) and the screenplay is penned by two-time Independent Spirit Award winner Mike White(PITCH PERFECT 3 and SCHOOL OF ROCK) The project will be produced by Angelina Jolie(MALEFICENT). Jolie is also lending her vocal talents to the film alongside a lively list of talents such as Danny DeVito(HOFFA and Emmy® and Golden Globe winner), Bryan Cranston(BREAKING BAD and Academy Award® and Golden Globe® nominee and four-time Emmy® winner, not too shabby), Sam Rockwell(THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI and also Academy Award® winner), Brooklynn Prince(THE FLORIDA PROJECT), Helen Mirren(HITCHCOCK), Ramon Rodriguez(IRON FIST and THE TAKING OF PELHAM 123, the 2009 version), Indira Varma(ROME), Arianna Greenblatt(AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR as young Gamora), and also Eleanor Matsuura(WONDER WOMAN, as Epione). The Mouse House is packing in quite an all-star cast, to say the least.

Based on a true story of a gorilla with unique talents and other animals that are sharing a communal habitat in a suburban shopping mall. THE ONE AND ONLY IVAN, has been an unforgettable tale about the enduring bonds of friendship, the powers of visualization, and the significance of the place where we call home. Applegate’s book, hit the #1 New York Times’ bestseller list garnishing numerous awards, including the Newberry Medal, tapped for the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children in 2013.
