"Got to feed the Trekkies": Quinto gets asked about Quentin

Hey folks... Entertainment Tonight Canada pressed Zachary Quinto for information on the Star Trek movie Quintin Tarantino is developing, and he has a bit to say about the matter... even if what he says is mostly 'I don't know'.

He does mention the script that Doug Jones and Simon Pegg were already working, on a follow-up to STAR TREK: BEYOND before the Tarantino deal became known, and intimates that a third script, unrelated to the first two, is also currently being worked on.

I'm still not entirely sure what cast Quentin Tarantino is even planning on using. In all the initial hullabaloo about him joining forces with Abrams, I've never read him say he was looking to tell an Abramsverse/PineKirk story; if he wanted to tell a TNG story, for instance, Abrams would still be the guy he'd need to go to. Given his affection for TOS and the advancing ages of the surviving TOS cast members, the safe bet is that he's talking the Abramsverse. But you never know. It remains possible that he's planning a different cast altogether. A George Takei Sulu film, for instance, is not out of the realm of possibility.

Hearing Quinto say that his Star Trek cast is eager to get back to making movies is good news, but it's bittersweet. I am sure they'll work respectfully around Anton Yelchin's absence. My secret hope is that they'll approach Mika Boorem, who did two features with Yelchin as kids, for the role of Nurse Chapel. I don't know if she'd even do it, but I sure hope she'd consider the part... that would have a nice symmetry to it.
