New Poster & Spot for PACIFIC RIM UPRISING! Now with Brand New TRAILER!

Hey, everyone, Rose Geiszler here! I have a new PACIFIC RIM: UPRISING tv spot and poster for you guys and holy SHIT am I excited for this movie. I am a MASSIVE Pacific Rim fan and these practically had me bouncing out of my seat, I am hyped like you guys wouldn't believe.

The new poster brings a better view than ever of the Jaegers both new and old. Gipsy Avenger's plasma cannon looks sleeker than ever, Saber Athena is showing off an ability to wield a single sword instead of the dual-wield combat we've seen from previous trailers, and both Guardian Bravo and Titan Redeemer look stunning in what is a clear nod to the design of Yoji Shinkawa's poster for the original film.

The spot for sure gives a few more recognizable nods to the original. The poolside Kaiju skull echoes back to the Bone Slums and thoughts of Kaiju cultists, but likely indicates more of a focus on the material effects of the Kaiju where the original seemed more concerned with the emotional toll. Guardian Bravo's love tap on the BMW, on the other hand, is the exact kind of over-the-top ridiculousness we got from Gipsy Danger's fist bump with Newton's cradle.

Speaking of Newtons, we clearly are going to be getting much more than a cameo in Charlie Day's reprisal of his role as Newton Geiszler (my personal favorite character), and Burn Gorman as Hermann Gottlieb. Plus, John Boyega's seemingly endless source of inspirational speeches certainly echoes back to Idris Elba.

My biggest real concern is, with such heavy-handed references to the original is in this sequel's ability to define itself as a unique experience, but with the clear change in aesthetics and with what little of the plot and characters have been released, I'm confident that Pacific Rim: Uprising will strike a balance and be just as fantastic as the original.

I am seriously counting down the days until this movie comes out, and honestly, March 23rd is right around the corner! Are you guys as hyped as I am!?!?!?

Until next time, Rose Geiszler
