SUICIDE SQUAD Gets Animated...Again! Trailer

Animation geekette checking in! Upon seeing this trailer for “SUICIDE SQUAD: HELL TO PAY”, I don’t even know where to begin, you guys.

The fans were not too thrilled with the live-action “Suicide Squad” movie. I thought it was okay, they had a good setup, but it was like they just changed their minds about everything that was going on half way through and went into some other stupid direction that had nothing to do with the first half. I vaguely remember some stupid things going on in the background with production that was the reason for it.

Anyways, with the lack of success the live-action version had, I’m surprised that they went ahead and produced another animated “Suicide Squad”, this one titled “SUICIDE SQUAD: HELL TO PAY”.  The official synopsis: “Amanda Waller’s top secret “Task Force X” – Deadshot, Bronze Tiger, Killer Frost, Captain Boomerang, Harley Quinn and Copperhead – on a mission to retrieve a mystical object so powerful that they’re willing to risk their own lives to steal it. But the Suicide Squad isn’t the only group of villains seeking to possess the object. The race is on for the golden prize … and, to stay alive, second place isn’t an option."

So they’re booting the Suicide Squad in the animated DC Universe… or rather, they’re doing it again. There was an animated Batman movie called “Batman: Assault on Arkham” that was pretty much the Suicide Squad that came out in 2014, two years before the live-action “SUICIDE SQUAD” came out. (Additionally, the comics came before all that, but we we aren’t talking about those.) What I don’t understand is why they felt to boot it in animation again, and this time with worse animation and cardboard design. See what I mean below.

Here is a picture of some of cast from the new “SUICIDE SQUAD: HELL TO PAY”.

And compare it with a shot from “BATMAN: ASSAULT ON ARKHAM”

The difference in quality is pretty obvious. I can’t quite compare the story between the two  because the new one hasn’t come out yet, but from what we see in the trailer, it’s looking pretty flat. Also, what’s the deal with having a thin Amanda Waller in this new movie? She’s fat in the comics and “BATMAN: ASSAULT ON ARKHAM”. I expected Hollywood too glam her up, but for the same to happen in an animated flick.

I’m going to watch this one, but I’m not too excited for it.

Signing off,

~Big Eyes
