“Birdboy: The Forgotten Children” Trailer and Poster!

Animation geekette checking in!

A magnificent looking piece of art from Spain has been brought to my attention! It’s dark, it’s creepy, the art is tasteful and simple and feels like something from a child’s nightmare. I’m talking about “Birdboy: The Forgotten Children”!

“There is light and beauty, even in the darkest of worlds. Stranded on an island in a post-apocalyptic world, teenager Dinky and her friends hatch a dangerous plan to escape in the hope of finding a better life. Meanwhile, her old friend Birdboy has shut himself off from the world, pursued by the police and haunted by demon tormentors. But unbeknownst to anyone, he contains a secret inside him that could change the world forever. Birdboy: The Forgotten Children is a darkly comic, beautiful and haunting tale of coming of age in a world gone to ruin.”

The film is based on a graphic novel titled “Pscionautas” and a short film by co-director Alberto Vázquez (“Decorado”), winner of the Goya Award for Best Animated Feature, he also won Best Animated Short Film the same year! The other co-director is Pedro Rivera (“Unicorn Blood”). Vazquez and Rivera penned the screenplay together as well.
