Loads of scenes from JUSTICE LEAGUE! Precious Roy

Hola Dannie aqui!

Precious Roy popped outta my sock drawer with a ton of clips from the upcoming Justice League film! Read on for the clips and Roys precious reactions!

Precious Roy back again!

There's been a flood of new clips of JUSTICE LEAGUE as we draw closer to the opening in less than two weeks... I've had a peek at five of them... and, as usual, I see some good things and some bad things, but above all, I think I see light at the end of the tunnel for the DC cinematic continuity. Here are the clips, and some reaction to 'em:

For me, the jury's still out on Cyborg. He doesn't feel wrong, but I've yet to experience a moment where I connected with the portrayal. This should have already been established, but something just isn't working right for me. Still, seeing the Justice League work as a team on their individual strengths is quite fun! As is seeing Steppenwolf's henchman rendered beautifully for the DCU.

The Wonder Woman clip does not disappoint. Watching THE DEFENDERS, I got a sense that I was watching a very 2-dimensional take on the Jessica Jones of her own series, that some of the dialogue felt clipped and off, and just didn't capture her as well as JESSICA JONES did.  This feels like Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman here, like Diana translated better to the team, and I'm grateful for that.

I'm loving the incorporation of the Batman animated series theme as his leitmotif in the Batsignal scene. It's a little on-the-nose, but less flagrant than the imagery lifted from Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns in BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE. J.K. Simmons is cutting a fine Gordon.

Batman teaching The Flash how to hero is really cool. We haven't seen a lot of unity that doesn't involve a cynical, "I hate you but you're okay I guess" humor so far. Affleck's Batman takes this Flash seriously, believes in him, and this is the scene that most makes me want to see the movie. It is setting up a sense of the superteam in a way that the Avengers didn't quite do until AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, and making me sharply miss CITY OF HEROES.

Bruce saying "the team needs Clark" feels like it comes from someone who actually gets the importance of having both a Superman and Batman around, the God who does decent stuff AND the dark devil that uses fear to keep the monsters in check. It feels like Zack Snyder took the BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE criticism on board, and went back to BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES and the JUSTICE LEAGUE cartoons (or perhaps even Waid and Ross' KINGDOM COME). I wonder if this is Whedon's influence as a step-in director, or part of the plan Snyder already had in play before he left? I'd like to think this is mostly Snyder, with a little Whedon.

All in all, it feels good-- not epic, but a great full-team Justice League movie.

 Precious Roy out!
