Fullmetal Alchemist live-action movie! New trailer!

Big Eyes here with some news in animation!

There’s a new trailer for the new “Fullmetal Alchemist” movie. I don’t normally look forward to the live-action adaptations of animes, but the “Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood” anime has always held a special place in my heart, and I’m pretty excited for this one.

For those who didn’t have the show as a part of their childhood or teen years: FMA is a story set in a world based around alchemy, which pretty much acts as magic in this show, and it’s based entirely on equivalent exchange. Two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric attempt to resurrect their recently passed mother with alchemy, but it goes horribly wrong because there has been no real “science” on what the equivalent exchange of the human soul because it is an extremely forbidden practice. Ed lost an arm and a leg in the process, and Alphonse lost his entire body (now his soul resides in an empty suit of armor).  Now, they seek out the legendary Philosopher’s Stone to defy the laws of alchemy in order to gain back their body parts.

It looks like this movie only covers the first season of “FMA Brotherhood”, we see the homunculi named after deadly sins: Lust, Envy, and Gluttony. If Greed was in there, I didn’t recognize him. I’ll admit has been a good while since I’ve seen the show, there may have been more I missed.

One thing I didn’t miss was that chimera. If you ask any old school FMA fan about the chimera, they’ll get upset. I still see memes of it pop up on facebook occasionally, posted to ruin someone’s day.

Hope you all enjoy the trailer as much as I did, here it is!

“Fullmetal Alchemist” first premiered in Japan on October 25th at the Tokyo International Film Festival, and hits theaters in Japan December 1st. Over in the states: there will be a screening at the Anime NYC Convention for convention attendees only on November 19th. When or if it hits theaters in the US has yet to have been determined or announced, it will likely go straight to Netflix in 2018.
