Stephen King’s 1922 Hits Netflix!! Carville Returns To MAHER!! More INHUMANS & EXORCIST!! Friday!!

HBO vets Thomas Jane ("Hung") and Molly Parker ("Deadwood") star in the Netflix movie “1922,” based on the 2010 Stephen King novella. Neal McDonough and Kaitlyn Bernard play Harlan and Shannon Cotterie.

When Stephen King wrote his 1981 non-fiction book about the horror genre, he had to write about only three Stephen King screen adaptations: “Carrie” (1976), “Salem’s Lot” (1979) and “The Shining” (1980).

Times have changed. Right now we are in what I would call a King tsunami, with adaptations of “The Dark Tower,” “It,” “The Mist,” “Mr. Mercedes,” “Gerald’s Game” and now “1922,” all launched in a span of less than four months.

Was it always like this? Not so much!

Last year there was really only Hulu’s “11.22.63.” In 2015 “Under The Dome” and “Haven” were both concluding multi-year runs. In 2014 we got the straight-to-DVD “Mercy” and the Lifetime TV-movie “Big Driver.” In 2013 there was the Hit Girl remake of “Carrie.” No King movies in 2012. 2011 gave us the A&E miniseries “Bag of Bones” and the straight-to-DVD “Children of the Corn: Genesis.” No King movies in 2010. In 2009 there was the Syfy remake of “Children of the Corn.” Nothing in 2008. In 2007 we got Frank Darabont’s “The Mist” and the final season of USA’s “The Dead Zone.”

Guests on tonight’s “Real Time With Bill Maher” include political strategist James Carville, activist-musician Daryl Davis, editor Janice Min, radio host Erick Erickson and political commentator Margaret Hoover.

ABC says of “Something Inhuman This Way Comes”:

On the run from Auran's forces, Black Bolt and Medusa reluctantly work with Louise to help locate the rest of their family. Back on Attilan, Maximus' actions change the game completely.

Fox says of tonight’s “One for Sorrow”:

As Andy confronts the strange incidents taking place on the island, his foster home receives a surprising new addition. Marcus investigates a series of natural disturbances with the help of a local wildlife biologist, while Tomas continues to question the strange visions that led him to Seattle. Meanwhile, Bennett's uneasy partnership with the enigmatic Mouse takes a dark turn.
