Hey folks, Harry here... When I was in Los Angeles earlier this summer, I got to tour the offices of Spectral Motion, Kevin McTurk served as my guide. Kevin is one of the sweetest & geekiest creative wizards you're likely to meet. He's worked for Weta, Henson, Amalgamated Dynamics, Spectral Motion and more. I had to sign a non-disclosure form as I was touring Spectral Motion, but while I was there... Kevin McTurk showed me the enormous and amazing puppets for THE HAUNTED SWORDSMAN which... I instantly fell madly in love with. The pre-production art is incredible and a lot of what I saw has shown up on McTurk's Kickstarter for THE HAUNTED SWORDSMAN!
Now if you head over to the Kickstarter - there's an excellent Kickstarter video with parts of the story pitch narrated by the lord master of the Earth itself, Maurice "The Brain" LeMarche! I don't know about you, but just hearing his voice gave me the wickedest case of the Happys! The idea of this being a serial of stories is fantastic. I wish that we could see a whole series of these made. This is the dream given birth by Jim Henson's work in the field. McTurk told me the work being done on Netflix's DARK CRYSTAL is just stunning beyond belief - but THE HAUNTED SWORDSMAN is a different animal altogether.
This is the wild amazing kind of work that truly inspires filmmaking artists to think outside of the typical streams of filmmaking. This is magic! Thought I would share this with all of you. It is so cool!
