Ron Howard has been sharing a ton of BTS shots from the set of HAN SOLO! Chewie! Lando! Lando's Capes!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Ron Howard's in a tough spot. A damn tough spot. By coming in at the end of shooting after Chris Miller and Phil Lord got the boot he's in a bit of a no-win scenario. If the movie's somehow good then it'll be seen that Lord & Miller did the lion's share of the work. If it's not so good then it'll be the evil studio and Ron Howard who messed it up.

I don't know enough details to tell you which way the cookie's going to crumble on this one, but I do know that I'm pulling for Howard and Lucasfilm and even the banished Lord & Miller because the last thing I want is another shitty Star Wars movie.

After a brief production halt, Howard has been officially directing for about a week. In what I can only imagine is a bit of damage control by the powers that be he's been releasing a bunch of images via his social media (both on Twitter and Instagram). It started off showing nothing and quickly escalated into real deal reveals.

His first image was of bottles of water on a cement floor. It was so boring I couldn't even be assed to link it. Then he graduated to a Star Wars coffee cup from the editing room...

Okay, that's at least Star War-s. Keeping that pattern, next pic should have been a beer on the set of the Millennium Falcon or something, but he hyperspaced past that and gave us our first real look at young(er) Chewbacca:

Chewie's cool and all, but what's really crazy is what's on the monitor. It looks like he's watching playback of a scene in which he's embracing another Wookie. “Sorry, honey. I guess I gave that human dude a life debt, so goodbye forever, maybe?”

The next stuff Howard shared was a guessing game. “Guess who's closet this is?” The first image might make you pause for a half second before yelling out “Oh, I know! Lando!” at your computer screen, but the second image confirms it. That's certainly a Lando cape there.

Not content to just show you his clothes, Howard took a selfie at the monitors on set and gave us our first look at a yellow-topped Lando in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon.

That brings us up to his most recent picture, which shows us more of Lando in the pilot's seat (I assume the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy is still owned by Lando for a good chunk of this movie) and also the incredibly badass way they're creating the jump to lightspeed effect:

The fan service might be transparent, but I think breaking the veil of secrecy surrounding these projects is a good move by Howard and Lucasfilm. Ultimately what matters is the quality of the film they release, but giving us a peek behind the curtain is pretty neat.
