Hey folks, Harry here... I loved the films of the Hughes brothers. Their last, united work was the terrific BOOK OF ELI, but after that film - they've decided to divide and conquer. Now Allen Hughes was first with BROKEN CITY, back 4 years ago. Terrific crime flick. But now it's Albert Hughes' time at bat - and he's making ALPHA - an Ice Age tale about... well, the trailer will show you. You'll see a buffalo hunt, fights with wolves and even a glimpse of a sabretoothed tiger. Love me some Ice Age beasties in live action! Truly do. The "Boy" in the story is played by Kodi Smit-McPhee - who I've been quite a fan of since he starred in the terrific films, THE ROAD, PARANORMAN, THE CONGRESS & DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. Oh yeah, as well as being a pretty great Nightcrawler in the AGE OF APOCALYPSE. My only concern with the film is a fear they might be speaking in colloquial English - and personally... I'm a much bigger fan for pre-history to go the route of QUEST FOR FIRE or WHEN DINOSAURS RULED THE EARTH - where there's a primitive language attempted. But that narration could be just for the trailer - only Albert knows for certain.
I'm rooting for Albert Hughes to knock this film out of the park.
Keep it cool,
Harry
