Surprising no one, THE CONJURING 3 is in the works!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I'm a big fanboy of James Wan's Conjuring films. After years of languishing in watered down J-horror adaptations and shitty found footage movies, Wan finally brought back a little production value and class to the horror genre and altered the course of scary movies overnight with the blowout success of his first movie.

The second flick is a little less effortlessly perfect as the first, but it's still a deeply scary movie with Wan's talents behind the lens at their peak. He plays with tension so precisely in that film you'd think he was specifically put on this Earth to scare the shit out of us.

Conjuring 3 was a no-brainer. We knew it was coming. These movies have made over $600 million in box office world wide (not counting any home video, streaming or the spin-off movies) and New Line has a few branch-off movies in production, the newest Annabelle being the one closest to release and The Nun in production.

Deadline has the not surprising news that the studio is moving forward with The Conjuring 3 by hiring Conjuring 2 screenwriter David Leslie Johnson to pen a new creepy mission for Lorraine and Ed Warren to go on. Details are still under wraps, but we know that the filmmakers will once again dive into a real life Warren case file for inspiration for this film.

Another thing up in the air is whether or not James Wan will return to direct. We know he'll produce and guide the project along every step of the way, but he's not yet agreed to direct. I hope he does. I know he's making big DC superhero movies now, but he's so good at making scary movies I hope he doesn't forget his roots and comes back to creep us out once again.

What do you folks think?
