You’ll have to wait six minutes to see Alison Brie very naked and less than an hour to see her naked and having sex in “GLOW,” a behind-the-scenes look at a late-1980s wrestling TV show modeled on WWF programming. Liz Flahive, who wrote 21 episodes of “Nurse Jackie,” created the series.
Bonus! The guy Brie’s character has sex with is played by Rich Sommer, who starred as Harry Crane in one of Brie’s earlier period series, AMC’s “Mad Men.” (More connections: Sommer also recurs on Netflix’s “Love,” which stars Brie’s equally hot “Community” castmate Gillian Jacobs!)
“GLOW,” which stands for Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling, is plenty silly – wait till you see the tortured means by which Brie’s actress character clinches her episode-ending audition – but it’s hard to resist a show that puts Brie front and center (and naked) after so many years of seeing her in supporting (fully clothed) roles.
Plus, the series is awash with the super sounds of the ‘80s; Patty Smyth and Scandal’s 1984 MTV staple “Warrior” plays over the opening titles.
The roundtable guests on tonight’s “Real Time With Bill Maher” are “West Wing” icon Bradley Whitford (“Get Out,” “Megan Leavey”), journalist Bianna Golodryga, political analyst Charlie Sykes. Counter-extremism expert Maajid Nawaz is the top-of-show interview guest. Lawyer Richard Painter is the mid-show interview guest.
