The bugs are only bug-size in Spike’s engrossing first episode of the series version of Stephen King’s novella “The Mist,” but the TV version of the title vapor still brings plenty of intrigue to the small Maine town in which it’s set. (Of course I loved the pilot for CBS’ series version of “Under The Dome” too, and that series went off the rails in a big hot hurry.) The “Mist” series gets more square footage than the movie by inhabiting an indoor mall rather than a mere grocery store. Showrunner for the new “Mist” is Denmark’s Christian Torpe, who also created the Netflix schoolteacher hourlong “Rita.”
Tommy Maitland, host of ABC’s new primetime version of “The Gong Show,” sounds suspiciously like Shrek and Fat Bastard!
