Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. We already know that Weta Digital's team are the best pixel manipulators out there and ahve been on the cutting edge of photoreal CGI for over a decade, but sometimes you need to actually see their work in action to be reminded just how amazing their work is.
Thankfully, Weta is the focus of a new featurette Fox released about War for the Planet of the Apes and you can take a little look at not only their digital magic making, but also see Andy Serkis' incredible performance in the raw.
I'll never tire of seeing Serkis performing in his gray suit and white-dotted face. It just makes it so clear that he's constantly being snubbed for acting awards because the various institutions are so slow to catch on to the fact that a real actor is giving a real, touching performance under what's essentially digital makeup.

I think I'm allowed to tell you guys that I got to see War for the Planet of the Apes and that it's straight up oustanding. Full review will come soon-ish, but I did get to see the movie before I left for my semi-vacation in New Zealand (I'm doing a few things here for the site and will be updating news and stuff, so that's why I had to qualify the vacation part of it) and was blown away by it.
